  • Man, they really danced back then. No wallflowers, no dry humping, and best of all no AUTOTUNE :)

  • Man in would be nice to go out and just dance the night away without being gawked at and getting your butt smacked. This looks like an awesome time!

  • I think the hosts shirt was trying to eat him!

  • @1:04... Brotha' got kinda' confused for a second did'nt he? Hahahaaa!!!!

  • @FRESHCOOLAIDE

I think that was just an edit. I don't believe the sensors were comfortable with the lyric, "Want some coke? Have some weed."

  • @757GLG But they were fine with "I'm that nigger in the alley"?

  • @DrunkenPoliceGod

I thought the same thing. (LOL)

  • I had this album and Sly and The Family Stone, and a few other bad ass black L.P.s in the early 70s. Not bad for an 11-12 year old white boy, raised by racist parents(rip mom) I ended up in youth lockup alot and had to choose sides. That sucked cause I got along with the blacks better then I ever did with the mexicans,lol..

  • @rbreton59 Let me add, where I came from the white boys were alies with the southern mexicans, thats where the choice came from.

  • they said nigga on TV lol

  • so black.

  • This white boy wishes he could have been there getting loose on his feet with some TRUE dancing cut loose folks with Mr. Mayfield. WOW. People do NOT know how to dance like they did back in the 70s. Thanks to African American clubs for allowing me to get in and learn how to get funky and appreciate true soul music.

  • @n2muzyk it's because they don't have the same music to dance to. they don't call it funk and soul for nothing.

  • killer song....mp

  • HE WAS THE MAIN MAN HIS PARK CONCERTS WERE FREE IMAGINE THAT FREE ??

  • i wish our school pusherman would make a song like this xD

  • there should be a separate movie with the guy in the yellow shirt!

  • this sh!t was BAD ASS! also looking at curtis, you wouldnt think the dude has such a smooth falsetto as he did, some of these "pretty boy" singers today give it a shot, but please know it came from right here. curtis, we love you!

  • WHY were they singing about my cousin Jery.. he was a pusher, man..until the law caught him...then he was gettin pushed in the ass,man...dont sell dope!

  • @nealadams70 getin it pushed waaay up....... " Training Day"

  • This episode was broadcasted around 1973!

  • Where is that sell out Jap chick dancer who always thought she was the shit and better the rest of the natives?

  • I guess it is alright to say Nigger, but they censored out everything else....Damn bastards.

  • good quality

  • Also, they censored out, "baddest bi***es in the bed."

  • They made him censor this song. When he says, "I'm your doctor when in need", the next line should be, "have some coke, have some weed." Also, after the line, "secret stash, heavy bread", the next line should be, "baddest bitches in the bed."

  • This is one GEM of a video clip!! Thanks for posting it! :o)

  • The way they dance looks like an old styled cartoon...I love it.

  • curtis mayfield had the purest falsetto in soul music

  • 02:00 beat kill hahah

  • They didnt block the N word that was in the song !

  • @gtrscience1 - THAT'S BECAUSE THERE IS NO " N" WORD IN THE SONG. IN THIS SONG HE TELLS IT LIKE IT IS AND SAYS NIGGER. AT LEAST IT SURE SOUNDS THAT WAY. RIGHT?

  • omg omg omg the dancing at the end is BAD ASS to put it in charlie kelly's words.

  • Thank u for posting this!! :-)

  • jaja como bailaban los chabones

  • man the monkey from hangerover 2 had me rolling on the fcking floor with tears in my eyes when they play this. i have always like mr mayfield, he taught me to never give up on my people! and to love them at whatever level they are in life. really sad how the new generations "do not have enough" real role models to help them along the way.

  • holy shit

  • You could hypnotise people with yellow shirt man's arms.

  • oh hell thank you so much for posting this....think you can beat out the posting from Superfly?...this is so much better!

  • 1 man was D.E.A !

  • How can a couple hundred people in a room dance like that, and nobody ends up with a black eye?...Oh wait.

  • 1:42 man appears at 4:22 as crazy as ever!

  • Since when do they get Soultrain in Asia? Excluding, of course, Seoultrain.

  • people will remember the guy in the yellow shirt at 1:42 forever lmao

  • @dkbproductions i dont think so bro. but u never know.

  • @dkbproductions hahaha, for real! ;)

  • @dkbproductions You ain't never lied, L M A O ! ! !

That brotha was doing his own thing . . . #Classic

  • @kingbmore73 man evry time i see that my heart laughs a little inside lol

  • @dkbproductions loooooooooool!! beautiful!

  • @Carto0n7 especially the encore at 2:11

  • @dkbproductions why did you do that to me?

  • Comment removed

  • @dkbproductions ROFLMAO! I know I will

  • the censored it! thats gay

  • The soundtrack to my youth and a voice of an epic generation. Black people, what happened to us?

  • @MrVeesworld Indeed. What happened to ALL of us?

  • @MrVeesworld what happened to black music is more like it.

  • I'd be the only white guy in there and i'd be loving it!

  • @yankeeballgame ... No you wouldn't ... there'd be a bunch more ... even freckled people be there getin some and everyone digin the groove ...

  • @yankeeballgame ... No you wouldn't ... there'd be a bunch more ... even freckled people be there getin some and everyone digin the groove ... in a flawed world ...

  • Love soul train back in the day black people had fun without fighting and acting like fools it makes me happy to see this i just wish things were like they use to be they should of never took soul train away thats wat kept all people together

  • i like the dance of at the end,how come we dont come out of night clubs like that!!!

  • These are our parents!!

  • In all the years of watching SoulTrane and clips from SoulTrain, I've Never seen the dancers dance so hard to a song.

  • @sonnyandbilly Yeah, they worked it in this song...but this song makes you want to dance hard.

  • The usual practice of the time, censorship! Those "want some coke, have some weed" lines were left out to only to be clumsily substituted by other lines of the song. Poor Curtis!

  • Snoop Dogg in the yellow vest @ 0:53 - 0:59

  • this is a very magnificent vocal performance

  • AMAZING.....

  • LOVE HOW U CAN SAY NIGGA BUT CANT SAY COKE OR WEED.....LESS U GOT SOME...LOL. BUT THATS THE WAY IT WAS IN MY DAY. TRIP

  • One of the great talents of that era. Rest in peace, Curtis, and thanks for all the brilliant music.

  • Eat them salted peanuts out the can!

  • LE FUNK AVEC L'ESPRIT ROCK N' ROLL , C'EST CURTIS...

  • this reminds me...its girl scout cookie time!

  • If I was smokin this the typa shit that'll make a nigga go hit a stone. An am I trippin or do the song fuck up at 1:05??? lol....

  • honestly i wish i lived in the 70's

  • @crazyyungsta08 you and me both dude

  • the guy in the yellow shirt at 1:42 was flagging down the pusher man!!!!!!!

  • @pimpjuice11850 haha

  • @pimpjuice11850 LOL!!!!

  • @pimpjuice11850 lmao! He was workin it out wasn't he?? rofl! :o)

  • Damn.

  • Timeless classic

  • Smooth as river rocks!

  • This is why music is such a big component in movies today! RIP Curtis

  • They censored out "Have some Coke, Have Some Weed" but not the n word?

  • @ripmeast21 yeah whus up wit dat ?

  • @gblueslover2

    ikr

  • @ripmeast21 That's cause a Black man said it. . . . Jesse and Al said it was okay ;0)

  • @slimdudeDJC good enough for me

  • @ripmeast21 because it's an important statement

  • @ripmeast21 They also edited out "bitches" as well.

  • @ripmeast21 got that from the beginning

  • @ripmeast21 ok enough with bullshit, he put that in there as a part of the artistic expression. i cant believe black folks today got the nerve to forget the real terms of endearment of the word nigga, not nigger,. the power behind it is immense. for you u and the 12 idiots to question a legend and the things he has done in the most turbulent times in black history is straight bullshit, get over yourself and see the bigger picture.

  • @ripmeast21 and you did the opposite

  • I wish my pusherman was here.... right now.....please....

  • I'm Your Doctor,

    What You Need,

    Superfly, Hear I Stand.

    .... WRONG !!!

At 1.04 to 1.07 the proper lyrics have been dubbed out.

The last line should be ' Have Some Coke, Have Some Weed'

  • 1:41 - 1:45. Guy in yellow shirt. Doesn't get any better then that!

  • im yo pusherman

  • Wow, flashback! That Don Cornelius must have been gettin some serious tail back then, haha. What a pimp! It seems so strange seeing a crowd that is 100% black. I'm so used to seeing crowds being mixed nowadays. I do remember what it was like back in the 70's though. Wasn't easy for minorities. But I guess that's what this song is about, really. So glad the backwards racists have lost so much ground.

  • 2 for the price of 1!

  • Damn ! I was born too late !

  • <-- speechless!

    THIS IS SO CLASSIC!!!

  • Soul Train Line at the end is All Time Classic !

  • "I'm that nigga in the alley" .........

  • the most prolific negro is the fool who introduced the great mayfield.

  • how much coke u think they were all on..??..lol

  • @Hustman1619 Hopefully a lot of it. Look at Curtis Mayfield's suit looks like he went for a swim in a mound of coke and came out all dusty. R.I.P Curtis.

  • @Hustman1619 what an ignorant comment! a former flat mate of mine was of African background, he has lived in a few countries including the USA. Infact he had a highly esteemed job working with Afro-American musos and singers. He didn't even smoke cigarettes! He was a fitness junkie, not a drug addict like most idiots like you assume: "If you are Afro-American you are on drugs". Ignorant narrow minded comment.

  • damn i wish i could have experience this

  • remember these days

  • This is awesome

  • Man! I wish I was a teenager back in the 70's! Had to grow up listening to the wack music of the 80's...sigh

  • i want to dance like the guy in the yellow at 1:42

  • @AIRSO97 LMBOOO!!!! Please don't do that to yourself! You would surely loose a few friends. lol!

  • wow....back in the day ....my how things of changed.

  • gotta love that guy who jumps up on the chords

  • Comment removed

  • At 1:54, they covered up the lyric "Baddest bitches in the bed", but continued using the word "Nigger". I wonder why they didn't edit that out?

  • Fuckin Soul Train LMAOXD.

  • After watching this, if you dont wanna be black it's because you already are

  • damn what a smooth voice

  • i'm glad the sound isn't crappy like the video quality.

  • FUNKY, FUNKY, FUNKY!!!

  • When I was in Berendo Jr. High (L.A.) in '72, our math class was in the basement, and every day without fail, this kid would slowly walk by singing "Pusherman" in a lazy, nursery rhyme sing-song style, and the whole class would crack up every single time. The sidewalk outside was above window level, so all we'd see when we tried to see him was his red Converse high-tops. His choice of song to sing was excellent, but I wonder if he understood how serious the subject Curtis was singing of was...

  • This must be around 1973...I miss this stuff...
