  • I actually got to meet Harry earlier today at my jazz band competition and we did a clinic with him and watched him play with the University of Missouri St. Louis and I must say he is probably one of the best trombonists I have ever heard.

  • That trombonist sounds like Dog Dagget!

  • I there any shee music for this arrangmnt?! Wow!

  • @leojamesconroy

There is sheet music. It's arranged by Paul Mutha for concert band. My trombone choir is doing it with Harry in January just using the clarinet, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, and tuba parts. It works pretty well.

  • @foxxbj thankyou so very much! I shall check that out. Thankyou!

  • 136,000 of these views are because of me

  • THE TUBA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Look up Bob McChesney. He's amazing just like him. Listen to Carnival of Vience by him.

  • YOU GO TUBA!!!

  • HOW?!?!?! Only person I have ever seen to tongue that fast!

  • Does anyone else have a tromboner because of this?...

  • Beautiful!!!!!! :PPPP We just need some drums exotic ones :PP and some string, double bass etc make it more flammy! :PPPP

  • Army should hold their instruments instead of weapons! :) That's the real weapon!!!! The instrument to play music.

  • i play trombone and i cant even get the first note right!!!!

  • All the younger kids are thinking theme from "Kill Bill".

  • @zachsplep Except the ones that play brass instruments, especially trumpet, like me :P

  • Then this damn lady walks in front of the camera >:(

  • Amazing.. wow.. department.. give this guy a raise!

  • Great Job Harry. The Veterans so enjoyed your work at Yountville, CA - Vets Retirement Home. You are an awesome leader and player. Keeping the Spirit Srong!! Music the universal language!!

  • Dang

  • Damn, that guy is crazy...I better start practicing if I wanna be half that good :P

  • he must have lips of steel

  • That is probably the greatest flight of the bumblebee arrangement i have ever heard! Fantastic job! Also, Harry Watters, you just keep playing that bone!!!!

  • Mr. Watters, you win at trombone playing and life.

  • HOLY F**KK!!!!!!!..i had no idea it was possible to play flight of the bumble bee on the trombone!!!!

  • i could do that if i found a dumb-bell for my tongue, like my girlfriend

  • This is a nice arrangement. It kind of reminds me of a tv theme from the 70s. I wish I could play trombone half as good as that guy.

  • that trombone makes such a beautiful sound in the higher range

  • @secdec it does

  • his soul

he sold it to the devil

    thats the only logical explaination

  • @secdec i didn't know that, that's pretty cool =)

  • Harry James will proud when He see this video from Heaven! :D

  • Is he only double tounging? This man is godly.

  • @WelKeRBoy83 he's gotta be double tounging, or triple if he can

  • @peebrain26 Double tonguing is faster than triple tonguing. Triple tonguing only puts the emphasis on every third note instead of every second note.

    He is double tonguing.

  • One of the great trombonists make it look so easy ,the sign of a true artist!,outstanding!!

  • Double tonguing.No.Triple tonguing.No.Septuple tonguing.Maybe.

  • I think i have to call h4x on this one. moving the slide while still maintaining one pitch is wizardry.

  • @sonic7122 ever played a high C on first position and slide down, but go up the partials? you hit the C on first, third, 4.5ish, 5, and 6. and he was playing much higher than that.

  • i went to a clinic with this guy he's awesome! and he played this.. now whenever i'm sitting next to my friend in band and we mention his name i'll wildly play 16th notes n a super high register. and go Wowowahahehehahehe

  • I saw this guy today at the Eastern trombone workshop. Fucking came on my self.

  • Muy buen video y excelente trombonista

  • I hope one day I can get that good!!!

  • Dat guy......

:D I saw him once! It was amazing.

  • he's half dolphin

  • @stuffedicing HA!

  • The bone player is amazing though!

  • @vtuttle1 Even if he is doing a lot of tonguing vs, hitting each pitch. It is just like doing the S&S piccolo solo on te tuba. I like hims doing the fake Maynard stuffs. LOL :0)

  • The tuba player chipped a note in the first 8 bars. Yes I was a Macom 02F player for many years. If I had male parts, I probably would have been in the Army BQ.

  • i am a trumpet player and i never see this song play with trombone is amazing!!!!

  • He was at the American Band College last summer and he NEVER stopped practicing... this is actually quite a bit slower than he played it with us. He was absolutely phenominal to hear.

  • Every other video with a trombone playing this piece sounds like Flight of the Retarded Dollphin. This guy is amazing!!!!

  • Clarinets wished they can do this.

  • Well, that just killed my self esteem as a trombone player.

  • I love the Bossa Nova setting for this!

  • check out that missed note by the tuba player at 0:04

  • im diggin the double Ab at the end. i saw him perform at the missouri all state music conference. it was magnificent.

  • If it can be done on a tuba, I don't see why it can't be done on a bass trombone.

  • That was insane...i could never do that on my Bass Trombone...my mouthpiece is too big...

  • were you just screaming into the trombone at the end?!?!?!

  • @EdwardIsMine468 You must be a beginning trumpet student because your mouth/chops shouldn't feel "bad" after playing.

  • สุดยอดครับ

  • my ear had orgasm.

  • Wow, that was incredible. When my friend showed me this, my jaw literally dropped. I'm a flute player, and I would have a lot of trouble with that, let alone a low brass instrument!

  • Simply amazing double-toungue and lots of chops. Bravo!

  • @8chopless possibly triple tounging as well, but who knows?

  • after one of their concerts i met their lead trumpet in the bathroom. hahaha

  • I liked the part where he did the thing with the instrument and my brain exploded

  • Haha It's funny how this is discouraging people. My trombone instructor went to school with him at North Texas, which means Harry Watters has been playing professionally for 30 years. It's not surprising he has this amount of skill. Of course, he could be singing those upper notes.

  • @nickmusiclover I know 3 high school trombone/euph players that can hit the notes he does in this video and I myself can hit them on trombone and I'm a french horn player. Not as musically or as pleasing as he played them but basically what I am saying is that for a pro trombone player those aren't hard notes.

I apologize for the fail grammar.

  • @Deathwish42 you obviously know nothing about brass playing.

  • @mluballer Why would you accuse me of knowing nothing about brass playing? What did I say that implies a lack of knowledge?

  • i look up to this guy as a ttrombone player

  • I bet the trombone guy's lips hurt :-)

  • dear god, double Bb. im not sure whether to sell my horn or find the nearest practice room. probably both....

  • @historyland Double B flat actually isnt that hard...but at those speeds....I definitely can't play that fast xD

  • 6 people play clarinet

  • @EDog1o1 I still press thumb up althought I play clarinet

  • 6 people missed the like button.

  • krasser scheiß!

  • I CALL BULLSHIT ON THAT PERFORMANCE. haha im jk, it was freaking amazing!!! consider my mind blown right now. and i always hate how people ask "omgz iz it possibleele to even go that highh?" and im like, duh, he just did it!!!! anyways, harry kicks ass.

  • I will never be good enough to do this. I give up forever

  • When our band director played this video before our Marching Rehearsal today, I wanted to find a corner and go cry and write bad poetry about how I was feeling.

  • *smashes own trombone in frustration*

  • I call robot.

  • My god!!!

  • it should be him vs a girl that screams high and see which one is higher lol

  • @zpull77 It should make you want to practice more to get better.

  • I have just been trombOWNED!!!!!!!

  • @TheYtml OMG THAT tromBONED my virgin ears!!!! that was corny...

  • @RPB510 haha

  • @TheYtml and ur mind was tromBLOWN!!!!

  • @nemokid1220 exactly!!!!!

  • awesome!

  • Fantastic performance. What a talent.

  • I've seen Harry Waters play this live in Decatur, it was totally awesome!

  • Is it just me, or did he empty his saliva on the tubist's foot at 1:29? XD

  • I know Harry, he is not only a great player but a very nice guy! It's amazing to watch in person.

  • im in the marine corps band, and i gotta say, a good majority of the army's bands are horrible, but damn that was sick.

  • That trombone player was a Beast I guess Being in a millitary band has its advantages

  • Epic. I play horn myself, but boners are pretty damn cool

  • that was amazing

  • .....A trombone player showed this to me....I still prefer my trumpet.

  • french horn player looks like turk

  • The trombone intro was really cool.

  • I am goning to play this song for my solo concert.

  • its in 2 nad the botes are chromatic... training your ears listening is a good exercise ;)

btw thats going to be someday ;D

  • amazing

  • Wouh ! Superbe :)

  • are those thirty second notes???

  • wow!!!! Those were some crazy high lip trills, and double tounging in the high range was awesome too. An amazing display of pure virtuosity!!

  • i'v played five years and im pretty good but that makes me wanna quit, he is to fast and hits the notes to clean and plays in the umpteenth octive

  • Hey ive been playin for 8 and sometimes u know your limits..he can double tounge in the upper register but some people can take the middle and lower registers and still amaze people its just how confident you play...but this guy does have a lot of people beat on the upper register so props to him

  • Don't quit! He's probably been playing for 20 or 30 years.

  • no one can live up to the level of awesomness shown in this video

  • WHaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

I thought that I was a good trombonist, but that guy is just awesome. He also makes it look so easy 0_o

Now i'm happy for hearing this and depressed for my own lack of skill.

  • i shed a manly tear in this guy's awesomeness! *sniffle*

  • beast mode

  • Inspirational. This basically proves that a trombone can be just as agile as any other instrument.

  • @Radicality9 but you have to be that good for it to be agile

  • @cenotosa1

Definitely. I'm not taking this guy's skill for granted; I know what he's doing is really, really hard.

  • No way!

  • I like how he does the lip trill at 1:25 and just moves the slide around for the heck of it - no effect on his pitch.

  • Super!!!

  • well, this guy teaches at George Mason University as the jazz trombone teacher. Hopefully I will get a chance to study with him upon the acceptance letter of my audition.

  • I saw him at the an E.C.U. Wind Ensemble perfromance. He performed this and some other pieces, but this was most impressive, especially his range.

  • lol, I meant to say at an E.C.U. Wind Ensemble performance.

  • Whats funny at :47 secs the lady in the video saying he looks like "Sean Penn".

  • Oh snap, that was amazing!

    *brain explodes*

  • @LowCaloriePie Did he blow your mind? :D -sigh-...puns...

  • holy crap. he tounged that perfectly. such ambeture. wow

  • If you go up high enough on the trombone it pretty much doesn't matter what position the slide is in.

  • @joszefVARADI that's true all the positions up high are between 1-3. i can hit my high F, double Bb, C and D all in first position.

  • its true lol.

  • @guardianchief its not fake..that guy is amazing!

  • This is Amazing!!

  • Dang son... This guy does work! Is he fretting the partials on that? It seems like hes using a lot of natural slurs the way he stays out past forth possision so much. This guy knows what's up. Thats for sure.

  • dude somebody come mop my mind cuz he just blew it all across the freakin room!!!!

  • What note are these??? How many bars above the staff are they, and what are their positions?

  • i'm sure once it gets that high up into the stratosphere you can pretty much play any note open or first position. works that way on trumpet not exactly sure about on trombone

  • exactly the same on all brass instruments

harry's awesome...great guy too, had the chance to meet him once

  • @pedroesteban86 you are correct :) takes a while to get that high on trombone as some notes that are technically first position on trumpet up there should be tuned using your valve slide (or whatever its called, trombonist here lol), often trumpet players dont bother. On trombone you always do because its what you are used to :)

  • @pedroesteban86 same on all brass instruments.

  • @pedroesteban86 It will work that way on trombone, it is just alot more complicated because of the quick embouchure change on a much larger mouthpiece.

  • @pedroesteban86

Its he same on trombone. The overtone series is all the same and you can pretty much play any note in any position when you play that high.

  • @flooddude once you get into the triple high range(which is where he was at his highest) you can play anything in any position. the notes for the melody are chromatics descending down from A and when it goes higher it starts on an E. at least thats how i've always played. the most impressive part of this video is how fast he tongues his notes, in my opinion.

  • @flooddude once you get past about 6 ledger lines, you can play almost every note in first position. notice how he moves his slide everywhere while playing only one long high note

  • @evilwombat51

lol, it's everything past Bb. yes, i'm trying it now :D

  • @flooddude id guess high c or high Bb and 32nd notes too!!!! DAMN DO I LOVE MY TROMBONE!

  • Comment removed

  • Woooow!!! Great!

  • BEASTLY

  • Dude, 0:09.

    'Nuff said.

  • How fast does he spit watermelon seeds?

  • BEAST

  • Makes me proud to be a Trombone player.=D

but i would never dream of going that high because i play Bass Trombone!

  • :o On trombone....whoahhh

  • holy crap. I'm a trumpet player and after watching this... wow. this man is a machine.

  • no.

  • umm.... You sir... or shall i say retard... need to go to a mental hospital

  • sick dude trumpets yea dude

  • wish I could actually lip trill and go that high without sounding like a trumpet...

  • yea trumpets

  • I have his G&W mouthpiece... it's awesome

  • impossible!!! HE'S A WITCH!!!

  • triple tonguing ftw XD

  • I play the trombone, I'm called Harry... does this mean I can play the flight of the bumblebee now? :P
