haha why is it that i stuck this trick in only two or three tries but i can't do boingo boingo for to save my life. all it is, is bouncing the yoyo but my dv888 just doest want to bounce! WHY???? lol

If you are amazed by the spin times on this yoyo, you are likely playing with a trans axel or a crappy bearing yo. The dark magic is not the best there is, a northstar is an easier throw with a better response system, and they usually cost less than a DM

If you are going to bother to play yo and you know you aren't quitting, save your money, and get something in the 65-120$ range (depending on style and material) you won't be sorry (I went with a Stryker, best shit ever!)

@Oshyrath You don't NEED to, but from all the yo's I have purchased, I can honestly say I wish I had only bought a Northstar and my Stryker. If you want a longer spinning yoyo you will have to invest in a better bearing at the very least.

A Die Nasty is a good option, but again it won't spin as long.

I have yet to find a 20$ yoyo that feels as good, or plays as long as my Stryker. I bought about 20 different yoyos before I settled on this one. Why bother with a cheapy?

@Oshyrath My Stryker was only 90$, and it is both stylish, and solid. It spins longer than I could really ever need (straight out of the box). I dont know what yo you bought, but maybe it just wasnt worth it. For me, it was either a good yo, or two video games... I mean really, not a hard decision.

I have an ExCon, amongst many others, and I never use them. That is a waste. The Stryker and Northstar I use for hours a day? Money Well Spent ^_^

I have a couple throws I dropped 70 on, and they just can't hold to the Stryker. Some came responsive, and that I can't really understand. For the money, you'd think it would be loose as hell upon arrival. I started with a Fireball, and moved to the ExCon. at the time I was happy with it, but the shape bothered me, I <3 H-style

I think the best advice for a new player would be, PLAY. the more you use a bearing yoyo, the longer it will spin.

@deafomega I don't care if you buy a $500 yo yo. It's just that, it's not always practical to spend $40 extra for a yoyo that is only a little better. I am not saying you shouldn't. I once spent $100 on a v-cube. I can't force you not to do the same. The only thing is. When people start yo-yoing, they don't really need an expensive yo yo. They start off with something cheep, see if they like it, then they can go buy expensive ones.

@Oshyrath I was only commenting on spin time. I don't recommend that a beginner start throwing something like a Stryker... Unless they want to really hurt themselves :P (Ive had returns on that thing that felt like I fractured my finger)

But for someone who isn't impressed with the spin time on their yoyo, there are only a few things they can do.

1. Play more. because the bearings break in and do spin longer)

2. Clean the bearing.

3. Buy a better bearing/yoyo

@Oshyrath but you are absolutely right, no yo will make you throw better.

But a longer spin can let you have more time to make your attempts. It is up to the player, and their budget, what they feel comfortable using. I was iffy about buying the Stryker, but WOW, it was worth it.

I will admit, the Northstar plays equally well, and is half the price. (It doesn't spin as long, but it is awesome nonetheless) I use it when I am practicing, to save my Stryker from getting dinged up.

Yes, Dark magic is very good, but a bit on the pricey side for your first yo-yo. If you want it then go ahead. The man in this video, Andre, uses a Dark Magic.

You can make it responsive or unresponsive. The special thing about Andres dark magic, he has a ceramic bearing for awesome amounts of spin time, but its expensive.
