DEVONNE "DEE DEE" ROCHELLE I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU AN AM GOING TO MISS SEEING YOU. YOU ARE A VERY BEAUTIFUL YOUNG LADY THAT I HAD THE GREAT PLEASURE OF MEETING AN BECOMING FRIENDS WITH. WISH I COULD HAVE CONTINUE SEEING YOU , BUT THINGS NEVER WORKOUT THAT WAY FOR ME. I REALLY LIKE THIS SONG AN IN REMEMBERING YOU , I PLAY IT TO REMIND ME OF YOU ! I LOVE YOU YOUR FRIEND ALWAYS "MANUEL"
This is my cousin Billy Stewart from Wash, DC. Billy was a Chess Recording artist in the 50's and 60's and was discovered by Bo Diddly, and his uncle Calvin (Hound Dog) Ruffin. Billy wrote and recording the 60's hits "Sitting In The Park" and this classic "I Do Love You". Billy died in 1970 when his vehicle plundged into the Neuce River in NC along with 3 of his band members. I am proud of my Family's Music History-Recording Artist Dane Riley
@DIJV79 wat a dumb racist piece of ignorant shit ur.talkin big and bad but try 2 pull that kinda shit on a homeboy and ud c wat happens.just stick 2 talkin shit on the internet doggy,u'll be speaking spanish in ur coumtry in 20 more years anyways.and have a great nite
@DIJV79 I'm white, and thank God you don't speak for all of us.How dare you come in here and spew hate. People just coming here to to relive old memories,or make some new ones. I'm also a conservative Republican, you don't speak for them either!! What a loser.
OH GOD, how I do miss you my beautiful girl... if you hear this song, you know I'm thinking of you ... pathetic to see it in written words... I don't care.
In my heart, you're always there. And I DO LOVE YOU...
ola louie, thankx, for the oldies but goodies music. i remember billy stewart's "i do love you," back in the '60's. happy dancing, sonny santiago (aka: benito)
I had the pleasure about 5 years ago of being in a band with Billy's younger brother Frankie, now deceased. I've loved Billy's music since my high school days in the 60's.
Ahhh... childhood memories. In the 5th grade and liked a guy who lived up the street from me. This song established me asa virulent Billy Stewart fan.
wow ... I just love this song and his other hit "Sitting in the Park". Brings back all the great feelings of falling in love, heartbreak and a time when Guys and Girls knew how to court each other.
This record and 'Yes, I'm Ready' by Barbara Mason were the first two records I ever bought! 95 cents each from Spoon's Record Shop, no tax and I especcially remember the 5 cents change from a dollar. Funny how certain things from your childhood you never forget!
speaking of "YES I'M READY" by BARBARA MASON, this is the first song I ever
bought. As a teenager in 1965 I do believe. I was 14 going on 15. As for the cost of the record, can't remember. I believe it was just $1.00! How things have changed.
rappers will sample this while this is part of my generations rich tapestry that goes way beyond the the dollar signs in this generations souleless eyes
No offense to anyone, but I have to just say this. BLACK ARTISTS AND ENTERTAINERS make the absolutely BEST music ever in history! There's a sense of soul and emotion that no other race can capture. This is why the music of Black artists is always so universal, From Jazz, Blues, R&B to Hip Hop, black artists have this on lock.
@CarlDevote No offense 2 U but when played or sung from the heart, Tchaikovsky, Puccini and many others can bring one to near ecstasy or pathos just as well. Listen to Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love" and see if you can explain why it's a "blue eyed soul" classic after 30 plus years.
@CarlDevote I would agree Carl and I am white. Rock n roll was taken from the blues down in mississippi and Louisiana down on the Bayou. Cats like Muddy Waters really invented it. You listen to people like AL Green, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Earth, wind and fire the list goes on and on and on. Elvis, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, they all credit black musicians as their influences. Sadly today, white or black artists have no soul, there are few exceptions. Music is bad now
When I first heard Billy Stewart, he was singing "Summertime" with that tongue action he loved to use. My buddies and I laughed like crazy because it sounded so funny. But one of my friends always used to sing "Sitting in the Park" and that led me to this song. I love "I Do Love You," a great 'heart song.' And when I hear Billy Stewart today, no matter what he's singing, I don't laugh at all - I feel moved.
This...... is how you sing a love song!!! The way he end his songs, makes you want to.......Man! I can't explain the feelings. I do THANK you for the post wspflats23.
this is my thang right here, when i find the one, she gonna hear this sacred song, best believe that. Aint gonna waste it by playing it for no skeezer.
my fav song of all time.. Billy stewart is the best.. I luv oldies all odies but this is my fav ..My kids just look at me like i'm crazy.. These kids of today don't know real music.. But i try to teach them like my mama did.. Thanks for posting... : )
Billy 'Fat Boy' Stewart was one of a kind, who sadly died in a car accident at the age of 32. His scat-type delivery was so distinctive, and this song is one of his best. Sheer perfection.
Man, the yesteryear had so much good music. Like I've said before, I've been born in the wrong decade. Gosh, the folk of that time got enjoy so much good music. Somebody, hurry up and invent a time machine, quick!
I married a farm boy from Wisconsin and since I moved from Cali.. I can't find music like this anywhere here. Thank you, it fills my soul with memories and my Christmas wish fullfulled. BARB
You had it all Billy! The looks, voice, talent. No other like you!

Yet another deserving gem from the past that mainstream oldies radio,in its top 10 repetitive rigidity ,never ever plays!
Just 'cause this song only made it to #26 on Billboard in '65, hardly justifies oldies radio killing a fine single, completely!
