  • Check out charm school like a moth to a flame

  • I'll bet he thought that toilet seat & bog roll was hilarious, daft twat.

  • A really exciting rock and roll band.. when on form they were much more exciting than the Stones.

  • Fuckin Rod man me and my friends head down to the Village green over in Levittown Ny and smoke ciggs and listen to this I fuckin Love Rod!

  • I think "it's been 36 yrs since Rod Stewart died" is referring to how he was never as good as he was with the Faces, maybe...idk, 70's Rod is the best Rod, imo.

  • brilliant pure rock n roll!

can't get any better than this.

  • The "Mother you wont recognise me now" at 1:56 - is that in case Mrs. Jones is watching and doesn't realise it's her son with that porn star moustache?

  • who believes rgbuzzrod?? LOL

  • This is the good stuff man, Summer music !!!!!!

  • This is the good stuff man, LOVE Wood's toilet seat guitar . this was the grooviest band of the land in this era, Ronnie L is a happy lookin' chap , his back up vocals and bad assed Bass playin' make The Faces, timeless.

  • It's been 36 years since Rod Stewart died...r.i.p.

  • @rgbuzzrod ha ha brilliant

  • @rgbuzzrod Rod Stewart isn't DEAD! Who might you be thinking of I wonder? Brian Jones from the Stones or something? Am I the only one who caught this comment?

  • who cares about all this band history shit...Joey Peeps muthafucka!!

  • E 'meglio la Rod Stewart che si può vedere quando si inizia a giocare a questi pazzi musiche

  • Only band ever who could go on stage absolutely pissed and make music this good! (for any American viewers, pissed on this side of the pond means drunk, not angry, over here, angry is "pissed off", subtle difference.

  • I know its easy to look back at this and say how great rock n roll was back then, but remember, the Faces only had one top 20 hit in the USA, so even back then audiences didnt recognize how great this band was. They could out rock almost any group back then and groups today dont even come close to rockin like this. Its great to see all the thumbs up for this. True rock n roll will never die.

  • beautifulll!!!

  • how the Faces didn't go on to rule the world is a mystery.

  • he still rocks...1963 till present ,,,cmon people...really

  • real musicians, what a novelty these days, that art is dead in America

  • @kapat45 Ronnie & Woody both left because they were both sick of just being Rod's sideshow act. Once they started to be introduced as"Rod Stewart and the Face" it was the beginning of the end. After Ronnie left they still carried on for some time with Tetsu on Bass and did not break up until after Woody left for the stones.Kenny didn't join the Who until well after the band had broken up. The point is NONE of them would have left if the band had carried on as a band and not as Rods side act.

  • @kapat45 Sorry but It was ultimately Rods fault for the demise of the faces. Maybe not directly, but certainly without a doubt indirectly. Rod would have been happy and content using the Faces as his backing/ backup band for as long as he could. In the end Rod wouldn't even show up in the studio to record new faces material because he was only interested in writing material for his solo career. Ronnie left and Woody soon followed. Rod's greater interest in his own career caused the split.

  • best shit ever

  • Never seen Kenney with a moustache before. I think I can see why. Had he just shot a porn film?

  • heard this on the sopranos

  • cracking guitar!

  • Kenny Jones had a killer 'stache!

  • Damn! are they having fun on stage!?!?!

  • love the drums on this one!

  • Thumbs up to Kenny's mustache

  • Comment removed

  • I love the mix on the drums ! So tasty, dirty and groovy!

  • 1 dislike...what a miserable fuck that person must be.

  • @TraderRockBlog - The person who 'disliked' this should be named and shamed immediately!

...unless of course, he was stoned and clicked the wrong button.

  • @TraderRockBlog I think you suck good music would slap you in the face and you would run..............RON WOODS guitar is a majic maker is wonderful.bet you had more ass wipes stuck to your ass....HA HA HA

  • chris robinson totally stole rods style and rightfully so

  • Why don't bands have this much fun on stage anymore? Walking around and joking with each other. I don't wanna pay good money to come see you snarl and give me mean looks. Just play some rock 'n' roll and have a good time!

  • happy birthday Rod!

  • Rhythm & Blooze at its finest.

  • Faces fuckin rocked. Always amazing bass/guitar. As a teenager I went rooting through my Dad's vinyl and Nods wink just cried out to me, played it all the time! Also lovin those big old Premier drums.

  • oooh fucking yes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • oooh fucking yes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • American Song Book my ass!! Rod get your old job back this is the shit we want to hear again.

  • @57Greggmak I'd love to hear more of this also but ol' Rod's pipes are a bit worse for the wear lately. Well, you're right, f! it, I'd rather hear him try to wail through 40 years of scratch than puss out. Rock on Rod.

  • "Mother you won't recognize me now!..... "MOTHER YOU WON'T RECOGNIZE ME NOW!" This song is incredible.

  • ROD HAD BALLS

  • I want a toilet seat guitar!

  • how does one mic the drums to make them so dirty sounding without too much bass like this? I havent heard any modern live recording that sounds like this

  • He was actually a really good looking bloke in his younger days.

I always considered him one of these guys who slept with 1'000 women, as he's sort of a millionaire lothario.

I bet he'd have got women, with or without the fame.

    has almost model looks

  • one of the best bands ever

  • Fuck, I love all the mob movies. I had to look this up, when I heard it in The Sopranos. I also discovered "I Ain't Superstitious" by Jeff Beck ft. Rod Stewart (from Casino)... holy shit, amazing song!!!!!

Not to mention all the Stones in mob movies, Cream, and The Animals.

I guess the Mafioso's liked some awesome tunes. Those movies even make Sinatra cool..

  • Rod n' Faces...one of the tightest bands ever ...ROCK ON!!!

  • The Sopranos!!!Tony b running along the street after killing that guy...Pax Soprana!

  • Awesome song and performance!! Rods voice is great as always :) Thanks for posting this footage!

  • what a voice

  • This is why folks need to give Rod a bit more respect. Sure, he started doing pop, when he got older, and is a bit cheesy now he’s 60 odd, but he and Ronny Wood were real rock pioneers at their peaks

  • mitici!!!!11

  • mitici!!!!

  • Sweet Jesus!!!! Where is music like this today? Oh right, in Austin, TX or New Orleans, LA or is it in Memphis, TN.......no its all gone. SAD but I can still hit repeat on my stereo!

  • @andrewjacksonbr It ain't all gone. It's there, right a strong-worded letter to the record labels and demand artists not cheese

  • LOL @ the toilet paper hanging from Ronnie's guitar

  • awesome song, makes me think of when i was a child, and than older when I was in the military. Also, I have to thank David Chase of the Sopranos, for introducing me to this song.

  • I really love the first 45 seconds of this clip - Funky White Boys, no doubt!

  • classic

  • THE TOILET SEAT GUITAR

  • that is one meek looking drummer playing to a heavy, albeit minimalistic, groove

  • @purphanz

    That's Kenny Jones!!

  • this tune fuckin rocks!!

  • one word stunning

  • i never was a big fan of Rod but damn hes fantastic inj this great song got this from Joey Peeps lmao Great show=Great song

  • Great Rod

  • TOTP is the british version of American Bandstand. Thats why the playing is out of sync and an organ sounds like electric piano.

  • is it just me or has any one noticed that the piano and organ playing aren't in sync with what he's playing? I wonder how many of the instruments were prerecorded? But what a fabulous version. Beats the studio version.

  • 3:29 - probably the best sound BBC TV ever recorded from a live drum kit- take note Jools Holland audio producers!

  • I have always been a stones fan and remember reading about the faces through that. But when i heard Rod was the singer I thought of "if you want my body" and avoided. But then this song I found on the web and now I own all faces albums plus the box set plus the mercury albums of Rod. Assumption makes an ass of me and you I think thats how it goes?

  • Rod and Ronnie rock, shame Tetsu isn't here though :(

  • omg!..lookin great rod!......thanks for the upload...great one.....

  • Nice tash, Kenny!

  • Magnificent groove...one of the Faces' best songs. Rod and Ronnie W. would never be as good after this.

  • what is rons guitar? A Rick?

  • More like a John...

  • @B1ggu5 - OMG that's hilarious (if totally obvious). right on! bwah hah hah!

  • @raferyan not a rickenbaker headstock-looks like a lesser known fender style headstock, id guess a smaller local or german gtr maybe a hofner...

  • Great song, Rod's had his voice perfect back then

And ronnies playing posibbly the ugliest guitar ever

  • love the freaky dancin

  • Long live Joe Peeps

  • Fantastic, I also agree this is Rod at the peak, plus a funky guitar!

  • Joe Peeps!

  • like ronnie woods toilet seat guitar lol

  • Anyone know how to play this?

  • @Dazzling0Stranger oh, wait I already asked this

  • demasiado bueno, los manes si roquean chucha!

  • top tune..saw them in 71 at 13...52 now and cant wait to see them again...roll on the reunion!!!

  • Why does he have toilet paper stuck to his guitar?

  • quote @pbmax Why does he have toilet paper stuck to his guitar? endquote

One may well ask why he has a toilet seat stuck to his guitar.

  • Excellent Post. How many of Simon Cowells disposable pop acts will still be around in 40 years time?

  • Great song !!! Great post!!!

  • SPOT ON MATE..

ROD at the peak of his powers...

  • Todays wannabe bands just can't rock like the FACES!!!!!!!

  • Very few could then either....

  • Have to agree with you there Sir!

  • it was great hearing this song on The Sopranos ....... great episode with Steve Buscemi.

  • So is nobody going to comment on the pure, unadulterated awesomeness of Woody's guitar in this performance? Looks like his guitar is right where all of their heads were :) What a fantastic band. Don't make 'em like this any more, that's for sure.

  • Ass kickin shit! what a voice! Groove, trashy guitars.they don't make em like that no mo - well, keep your eyes peeled..

  • Kenny Jones is sporting the 'stache!

  • Ronnie Lane is looking fabulous in that suit.

    What a wonderful clip.

  • yeah... Rod Stewart the faces good

  • Such a shame they never got the fame & respect they deserved. They were just as good as the Stones and a much happier bunch as the Stones were/are always brooding about something. Its a damn shame that Rod chose to pursue his own selfish interests over that of the band. Woody would have never left, all of Rods early huge selling solo albums would have been Faces albums, and they could have cemented their place along side the Beatles & Stones as one of the greatest bands in history.

  • @jmanmango No, Plonk left first because he thought Rod was getting too popular and Woody was apparently always 'meant' to be with the Rolling Stones and he would have left. Kenney would undoubtedly leave as soon as he got summoned by the Who anyway. So, it really wasn't Rod's fault, he said himself that if Plonk hadn't left then the Faces would never have broken up. Although it's an eternal shame, these guys are awesome, I'd give anything to see them live. ROCK ON THE FACES! Best band ever!

  • Yea...this is like gold.

  • What a treasure from the archives - from back when Rod was good.

  • @Icky1961

He’s always been good………He just decided he wanted to be rich as well.

Rod recently listed his 10 favourite songs, for Rolling Stone Magazine. They were all Soul and 1970s R+B rock. Always where his heart was.

  • Ronnie Wood’s a freaking awesome guitarist by the way. He isn’t the songwriter Keith Richards is, but I think he was a better blues/R+B/Honky Tonk guitarist in the 1970s.

    His sound’s unbelievable

  • @Icky1961 ron wood always has been good, excellent...
