Hi, I have a 5mth old ekkie and i have heard reports of how loud they can be - but i have NEVER heard mine screech. I do spend a lot of time with him so maybe thats it ... but he has also learnt that until he uncovered he needs to chatter to himself quietly and he does ... he only makes noise (and not at all loud) when he is in his day cage - hope that helped
Noise levels can vary. some can be quiet & others can be loud. Your home noise level & outdoor noise level can also have a lot to do with it. so if you have noisy birds outside, noisy kids, people, animals etc your ekkie is more likely to pick up these noises & see them as a normal part of life. But there can also be other reasons for ekkies to scream. It can be normal for them to have the occasional scream. It isn't normal for it to continue on for weeks or months.
