  • I'm getting ready to do my hop n pop's , next jump actually. I'm not scared or worried , you just need to remember how to exit the plane. Arch, but a wider stance than the box postion, but arch, arch, arch 3 seconds to stable and pull!!!

  • Pretty sure I'm doing both my 5.5 and 3.5 hop n pops this Saturday! Pretty stoked about it!! Nice video, bro

  • Just did my hop & pop AFF required jumps today from Skydive City in Zephyrhills FL. The 5.5k one was fun but I've got to admit, the 3.5k one was a bit of a gut check. Looking out the door of the Twin Otter at 3.5k looks pretty damn low! Exit was a little wobbly but overall it went well. Great video. Really captures the feeling.

  • I'm about to start my AFF training pretty soon. I just finished my third tandem today and I'm now comfortable with everything. Well, until I saw this. Doesn't the reserve deploy at 2500? You must have little to no time to get stable and pull. How long is it exactly and does the computer on the reserve disable as soon as you pull your cord? I can only imagine the chutes getting tangled if you pull too late.

  • @TheBSaget

AADs activate much lower. The Cypres 2 activates at about 750 ft. Given that the first 1000 ft take about 10 seconds, and 5 seconds per 1000 ft thereafter, from 3500 ft you have about 20 seconds before the AAD will activate and deploy your reserve. Hope this helps. Good luck with your training!

  • i've got this one coming up, but I was expecting it at 5K - how long have you got to get stable because it takes me at least 3-4 seconds just to get a decent position!!

  • Awesome Vid! I just did my 8th (it's on Youtube) and this jump's scaring the sh+t outta me already.

    Blue Skies!

  • Thinking about it is the worst part. I was all psyched out when I did my 3.5k hop-n-pop as a requirement. Practice exiting like that a couple times from normal exit altitude and you'll be fine. They're fun!

  • Good advice! I practiced the exit twice already and wow, it was FUN. I didn't know you could fly your body right out of the plane. All I did was exit towards the wing and right a little bit and Presto. I was falling facing the tail of the plane within 1 second ready to pull. Thank You!
