  • I think the therapist in US does not answer the question about pressure because of technical reasons. But your point may also be valid. In the first place no one will contact a relative of a therapist.

  • I really enjoyed your analysis since I'm curious of the differences between the original and the remake.

  • Are we able to do more than one ...thing at a time? It's a challenge and maybe, for a person w/o enough time or space, nearly impossible(?). A directive to "share the truth in love" might imply that a person share the truth, a version of "being direct", while simultaneously showing respect. This means that a person does not just "bounce back" or "shoot" every thought or impression they have received.

    This is a nice video.

  • Hello, great analysis. In Treatment is our favorite show. Can you say were you got Betipul with English subtitles?

  • @tehMugwump

Thanks! I don't know of a copy of Betipul with English subtitles. I actually added the subtitles myself to the videos that I've edited. In case that you're in SF bay area you can contact me about talks that I give on this topic.

  • Very interesting!

I enjoy this series, I feel like my mind is so stimulated after watching.

I agree with you on how Americans keep their distance and privacy too.

    I spent many hours in a jewish household with my friend David Meyers and I believe that the aspects you applied to the Israelis come close to an American Jewish family too. {not totally but closer than say an Irish family}

    Thanks for posting this perspective.

    Regards

    Hal

  • @halpittaway Thank you for your feedback! Indeed there are many things in common for Jewish and Israeli cultures (and it would be hard to summarize them in just a short message).

  • This was great, I hope you do more of these.

  • Interesting work! Congratulations...

  • thanks for the reply - was tackling the ramallah bombing controversial in israel?

i've just finished week 2 so much more to watch.

  • Thanks for this - it was interesting. I've just started watching In Treatment. You didn't point out that the US character is Black but the Israeli character is White. Also, I am very curious about the war in the Israeli version (which is the Iraq one in the US version)? Also how do Jake/Amy work in the Israeli version? Social class is so culturally specific and (at least from the first ep of them) this seems fundamental to understanding their relationship.

  • Thanks you for your feedback and questions! You're right, the fact that he's black is important, and one way to understand that is that there is greater awareness in the US for needing to represent cultural diversity on TV. In the Israeli version the bombing is in Ramallah, a Palestinian city close to Jerusalem. About Jake/Amy they also show class differences, but they are not as strong as in the American version.
