He practically orginized a denial of service attack on youtube in 06 and instead of being suspended, he was given a special-super-deluxe partner contract some months later.

It was not created to antagonize. YTA has reached out to staff, on more than one occasion, and made compromises in an effort to improve communication with staff. There was no criticism of the former advocates, and and I specifically mentioned that the individual council members are good people facing unfair restrictions. Please watch again. No one else perceived the message, as you have.

ok. quick question. i agree with a lot of your points, but... the simple fact remains youtube serves a ridiculous number of vids everyday. I am not sure if this is correct, but i heard 100 mill a day.
If say 1% write to youtube, how would it be humanly possible to answer everyone and check every flag. i have a feeling they have a runaway beast on their hands, and the only way to run it is to automate it with flagging systems. as sad as this is, i dont see a way they can fix it.
We have been told that is is not an automated program, and that each flagged video is reviewed by an individual staffer who determines if it will be restricted (to those under 18) or removed.
As hard as we work on getting this issue settled, we have to remember one thing: YT is like an unstable earth. No matter how we till the land, if mother nature doesn't want it done, then it wont be done. I very much don't like the idea of leaving YT, so i support trying to convince YT that keeping the domestic residents (the community) is in their best interest. But we need to also be ready, to be silenced, if the government doesn't like our voice.
As usual what Google says.. goes. So until time warner or one of these big companies shuts them down.. nothing will happen. Regarding free speech.. well this isn't anyone's site but googles. It is my understanding that they can ONLY address issues that they receive via email. I tried to correct that in the description. It was almost 7 am, and I my insomnia was finally subsiding. We (the community) were never told you were assigned to different task. Anyone new to the site, that tried to catch up through blog post, would assume you were still the official community advocate. Someone on staff should have let us know you were assigned other responsibilities. Many people wonder why there isn't more, official, video communication with the avg tuber.
Many of us are also still puzzled as to why it appears staff abandoned the community, and YTA, after making recommendations for the direction of the channel . At the request of staff, YTA extended the term limits. It was a genuine compromise, and effort to reach out to staff,
and strengthen lines of communication. This was done with the understanding that some issues would actually be addressed in a non-confrontational manner.

I get disgusted when I see how one certain religion is actively protected and defended around here by way of removing any videos that are negative about that particular religion. I get discouraged in a major way when I become aware of a once suspended person becoming a partner. I also get discouraged to see on a daily basis a few partners routinely use the tits and ass icon to suck in the views they'd not otherwise have. YT allows them to use the icons, but had suspended others. Huh?
Selective censorship, and favoritism, seem to be the only answer. The individual using "boobs" may do themselves in. I noticed a comment, that the photographer of the last image he used, had been contacted. I don't think he understands how serious the monetary ramifications could be. A member of staff approves all partner vids, so they could be held legally liable as well. A non-celebrity stock image can cost $500 to license.The ones he uses could be in the $1000's of dollars.
I was referring to him, but also to the partners whose each and every icon is of their tits in a bikini or ass in a thong, when those shots have nothing whatsover to do with the supposed premise of their channel or videos.
There is a huge amount of inconsistency when it comes to flagging. I've come across many videos that should simply not be flagged at all... there doesn't seem to be a well-defined basis for such action.
The suspension of Billybobjoe57 was the straw that broke the perverbial camels back! No way has he ever come close to copyright or TOS. Sure he has used some curse words at times,but if that was enough to get you suspended..then there would be no YouTube. Community Council us utter Bullshit..period. By law you are allowed(at least are supposed to be allowed)to post short(usually less than 30 seconds)clips of movies or songs without infringing on copyright status,the only way that would be illegal would be if you were charging or making money off of the clip. Flagging has to be automated. Me and my friends once made a video called Trapped in a bathroom. It was mostly my friend Phatpug's creation he posted it on his account and eventually generated up around 60,000 views one person said he flagged it and it remained flagged for over seven months. After constant emails it was finally unflagged after eight months of the video being up. I can't imagine how much worse the system is now that the site has gotten much bigger. We need this system fixed.
Yeah if anybody watched that Lassegg video and thought he actually killed himself was quite stupid. I don't think anyone watched it and the only reason his account was reinstated was because he made Hyperactive and Ameteur. I know one of Google's lawyers refused to disclose to some Brit politicians how many people are employed at YT for reviewing vids for flag/removal.
I think this wall of secrecy has in part to do with the Viacom lawsuit.

I actually misspoke. I realized it right before I uploaded it, and added the *only* text over that clip. I'm sorry for the confusion. It is my understanding that they can ONLY address issues that they receive via email. I tried to correct that in the description. It was almost 7 am, and I my insomnia was finally subsiding. I should have reshot the clip. =( If true, I still think it is absurd that they have that restriction put on them. What about comments, conversations, and videos?

you have a right to give your opinion but it must be clear that once you are a public figure you can't say everything because when you do you take advantage by the people who vote for you. I'm proud to have Freedom Of Speech :) but if I would be a congressman I have no right to take advantage of this right :) you represent the People and saying: Freedom of Speech! you say The People! and that's not true! :) do what is best for the People :) and that's not your own opinion but the Peoples :)

Regarding selective censorship,billbobjoe57 was suspended last week for reading the news"America Plans To Attack Iran",which violated NO rules.Yet, there are Fitna the movie videos up here which clearly infringe copyrights.This is more than corporate censorship in my opinion:It is cowardice by YouTube.I have no confidence my email would impact their decisions.
Oh, and that religion would be Scientology,whose annoying ads pop up on unrelated videos.

This was an excellent, well articulated video. Ever the optimist, I'll give the email campaign a try too although I'm pretty convinced that YT/Google is only concerned with commercial partners....and I don't mean the partner program which seems to be another cynical attempt at appeasement of the community.

I didn't mean to insinuate you get paid for the Xbox vids, and I stated that I had "heard" you did other things now.
We (the community) were never told you were assigned to different task. Anyone new to the site, that tried to catch up through blog post, would assume you were still the official community advocate. Someone on staff should have let us know you were assigned other responsibilities. Many people wonder why there isn't more, official, video communication with the avg tuber.

Many of us are also still puzzled as to why it appears staff abandoned the community, and YTA, after making recommendations for the direction of the channel . At the request of staff, YTA extended the term limits. It was a genuine compromise, and effort to reach out to staff,
and strengthen lines of communication. This was done with the understanding that some issues would actually be addressed in a non-confrontational manner.

I get disgusted when I see how one certain religion is actively protected and defended around here by way of removing any videos that are negative about that particular religion. I get discouraged in a major way when I become aware of a once suspended person becoming a partner. I also get discouraged to see on a daily basis a few partners routinely use the tits and ass icon to suck in the views they'd not otherwise have. YT allows them to use the icons, but had suspended others. Huh?

Selective censorship, and favoritism, seem to be the only answer. The individual using "boobs" may do themselves in. I noticed a comment, that the photographer of the last image he used, had been contacted. I don't think he understands how serious the monetary ramifications could be. A member of staff approves all partner vids, so they could be held legally liable as well. A non-celebrity stock image can cost $500 to license.The ones he uses could be in the $1000's of dollars.

There is a huge amount of inconsistency when it comes to flagging. I've come across many videos that should simply not be flagged at all... there doesn't seem to be a well-defined basis for such action.

The suspension of Billybobjoe57 was the straw that broke the perverbial camels back! No way has he ever come close to copyright or TOS. Sure he has used some curse words at times,but if that was enough to get you suspended..then there would be no YouTube. However,it appears more and more likely like the Bush/GOP right wing that have taken our constitution and raped it over the past 7 years(in the name of freedom ironic eh)have finally got their fingers into YouTube/Google. Shame.

Community Council us utter Bullshit..period. By law you are allowed(at least are supposed to be allowed)to post short(usually less than 30 seconds)clips of movies or songs without infringing on copyright status,the only way that would be illegal would be if you were charging or making money off of the clip. Sick of this whole censorship crap anyway. Amazing that a company(music or movie) would complain about free advertising which is all many of these vids are anyway. Good vid JustAllen.

Flagging has to be automated. Me and my friends once made a video called Trapped in a bathroom. It was mostly my friend Phatpug's creation he posted it on his account and eventually generated up around 60,000 views one person said he flagged it and it remained flagged for over seven months. After constant emails it was finally unflagged after eight months of the video being up. I can't imagine how much worse the system is now that the site has gotten much bigger. We need this system fixed.

Yeah if anybody watched that Lassegg video and thought he actually killed himself was quite stupid. I don't think anyone watched it and the only reason his account was reinstated was because he made Hyperactive and Ameteur. I'm sure there have been dozens of people who have made a similar joke been flagged and had their accounts deleted.
