I have this cokin model but it doesn't work properly at 11mm, in fact, you can see the corner of the filter holder/adapter at 11/12/13/14 mm but it works ok at 15mm.
Have you ever compare the Cokin filter with the Lee ones? I also noticed cokin makes circular polarising filter that (as i understand it) goes into the holder. have you tried that? wonder what difference it makes compared to the regular rectangle one. my guess is the rectangle one you need to rotate the holder meaning you cannot use the ND grad. the circular gives you the ability to rotate the polarising filter while keeping the ND grad vertical. What do you think?
Hey Dom, as usual i like your video. For a while i had doubt but after the example shots at the end of this vid i decided to ask. Don't you live in Edinburgh? i saw the dry ski slop, the other day was Arthur Seat and other places i am so familiar with.
Hi Dom, I just bought a set of Cokin filter system and I am going to try it our,but
I just wonded when you use Cokin filter system for long exposure photography, how can I stop the excess light comes through the sides between the holder and filter into the lens?
Dom, your videos teach me so much and I just want to thank you so much. I actually did not know that low dynamic range cameras resulted in blown out skies, could you suggest some cameras with a really good high dynamic range? Not fussed about cost though!
Thanks for these videos - it gives me hope as an amateur photographer that its not just me who forgets the names of things and doesnt know all the technical names but can still take decent pictures , i dont feel like im being preached to by a 'pro' who is up their own backside! Thanks very much :D
#1: Cokin make a lens hood that attaches to the P-series lens holder that he's using. They sell for a only a few dollars, and you can attach one onto the next. That will reduce the flare onto the Cokin glass.
#2 There are other ND filters available. You do not have to get ones that only cover half the filter. ND 2, 4 & 8 can be purchased so that the entire filter is a neutral density filter just like any other normal lens.
Dom, are you using the Z-Pro series holder, or the X-Pro? I have a D7000 and the 11-16, and I was wondering which one to get to have less vignetting. Thanks.
i agree with deva207. "you cant use this hmm hmm hmm thing" (lens hood), or "lens flare or glare, glare, flare" or "you put this hmm hmm hmm thing her that you get (ring) or something like that, iso three thousand and something. I think this adds to your videos dom, (i have paused the video so i could write this message) Keep up the good work. You inspire me. CHEERS.
So you pay £100 plus to mess up your photos. It darkens the sky and the tree and in any other shot if you don't have a flat horizon all that is in the top part.
Much easier to ad two shots together in photoshop with a mask so you can have just what you want and not be restrictive to a flat grad.
Last, if you want to talk about stuff like this 'thing' and that 'what's it called'.
Try knowing what the items and effectsare called. as it make it look like you not know what your talking about...
Hi Dom, if you don't mind my asking where did you purchase your kit from. The kits that I have found on Warehouse express do not have the adaptor ring, they have to be bought seperatley.
what is most interesting with Dom is when he gets confused...
"you cant use this hmm hmm hmm thing" (lens hood), or "lens flare or glare, glare, flare" or "you put this hmm hmm hmm thing her that you get (ring) or something like that, iso three thousand and something.. funny hhahahahaha
i just got those last week only thing i didnt get an adaptor ring so i have to use a diffrent one only problem if i go to wide you can see the ring :(

Sorry Dom plastic in front of my lens never, optical glass only. Plastic is a cheap alternative but only for Cokins to increase their profit margin
