I think I have finally figured out why people turn to Christian messages and music and bash God. They are searching for God's love, mercy and grace. So sad that is scares them so much that they respond so negatively. But God's love, mercy and grace will always be given to them freely by Him. Forgiveness is a joy and peace only by His grace can we (as christians) truely feel. I pray for everyone of you who are searching. May your hatred fade away and a new and glorious life begin for you.

But also, I think Max and Teri are absolutely right. It is very hard for us to understand the love of God because it's so not like our corrupted ideas of love that is conditioned upon performance and it's so easy to treat God's love that way too, especially when we sin. Our natural reaction is to keep ourselves separated from God when the Truth is that is when God most wants us to draw near to Him and be healed.

Growing up Church of Christ, I was warned my whole life of Lucado. He was apostate as far as most of the denomination was concerned. God cured me of my own legalism and sectarianism on the mission field [as He did Lucado- I feel a connection with Lucado] and now I deeply respect and admire Lucado, we've traveled the same road. It's especially great to see him on the 700 Club. it's a stab in the heart of Church of Christ legalism and sectarianism.

Instead of complaining on denominations and arguing about "adiaphora", it is pretty better, i think, to hear the message which max is trying to convey, a message of hope, assurance, forgiveness and life: it is "the gospel of Jesus in a nutshell". The problem with modern Christianity is just the one i see in some of these comments: quarreling on minor facts and losing the importance of the call of Jesus to us to make disciples and to proclaim the gospel to a dead world.

Well, yes, he is of the church of Christ, but you do know that the church of Christ is quite different from the nternational Churches of Christ which is considered by many as a cult. The church of Christ is part of a Christian movement in the 1800 that gave birth to the christian Church, the Disciples of Christ, and even to some degree, the United Church of Christ of America. They trace common links to Barton Stone, Thomas and Alexander Campbell, etc.
