  • Just a correction to my earlier post - the IL-62 was operated by 30 countries (not 20) including a few western airlines (KLM [9 planes], JAL, Air France, Guyana Airways, Air India). The biggest non-Russian operators were Germany (24), Czechoslovakia (21), Cuba (28), and Poland (23). The largest fleet outside Aeroflot (which had 165 IL-62s in 1989) was Domodedovo Airlines which had 45. Some IL-62s have been in service for 30 years, but 20 would be more common for heavily used examples.

  • Had a luck to fly by IL-62 twice 1980.It was really a good aircraft.

    Soviets had 2 IL's-highest quality passenger planes-IL-18 and IL-62.

  • Самый лучший в мире самолёт!!!

  • This song contains a "Ilyushin" word? Very nice!

  • To sirMIREK:

Its not copy VC-10, only same aerodinamyc solutions, like Concorde not copy of russian Tupolev 144, wich first flight was early...

  • You're right! I've read about Tu-144. Tu-144 was first.

  • Thanks a lot ! Fantastic aircraft. What the fantastic italian music?..

  • It's russian copy of british VC-10.

  • love it! best airplanes ever!

  • @Kazik10001 Fittings were up to the individual airlines.LOT's loss rates for other planes were also unusually high eg AN-12 (1 of 1 crashed) AN-24 (2 of 20 crashed) and Vickers Viscount (2 of 3 crashed, one after only a month in service). The fact is that other airlines didn't have such IL-62 accidents (due to assembly faults or whatever) and the international loss rate for IL-62Ms is the lowest of its class. That's all one can really conclude.

  • another russian shitcraft down. what a joke! RIP our family of polish patriots

  • @KarlosLatynos That was not the fault of the aircraft! That was the weather conditions at the airport, and hysterical attempts of the team at the aircraft to land the aircraft at this airport!

  • @peterkvideo Yes they did not find any fault with the plane. I suspect there was delegational pressure to land even though they were advised not to. The plane was fitted with western-type ILS which did not recognise the Russian ILS (PRMG) at Smolensk so landing in 400 m vis would be extremely risky to say the least. Very few of the 37 fatal Tu-154 accidents/incidents since 1968 were due to technical fault.

  • @KarlosLatynos you r shit and joke and your polish femily too and all polish patriots!!!hahaha

  • I love the Russian airliners ... shame they've shelved the Il-96!

  • @kubaAk47 Czech Airlines also considered western planes in the 1960s (including the VC-10) before buying the IL-62 (China also looked at the VC-10 but decided against it). I don't know if the Czechs ever considered the Boeing 707 for long-haul routes but its relatively high accident and hull loss rates were known by the late 1960s. The first western planes the Czechs bought were late model Boeing 737s and Airbus in the late '90s, after which it retired some of its IL-62s and onsold others.

  • @kubaAk47 Was Poland 'forced' to buy these planes? Bulgaria and Hungary didn't ever buy the IL-62. Romania had planes from east and west and operated IL-62s next to Boeing 707s on long haul routes. Germany, Romania and Czechoslovakia operated numerous IL-62s (50 planes) very safely for decades. Of LOT's IL-62 fleet, 10 were leased (not bought) from Tarom and Aeroflot, and the ones they bought were sold to Ukraine in Jan '92. Ukraine flew them (without incident) until 2 years ago.

  • @augusta613 "Ukraine flew them (without incident) until 2 years ago" Guess what? Polish airlines installed prevention systems, which warned about coming engine damage, therefore accidents could be prevented. It costed more to service and upgrade those flying coffins...

  • @KAzik10001 That is not news -the systems LOT installed were well known. There are different ways of checking turbines but LOT was unable to (nor service powerplants because it lacked facilities). Ukraine operated 10 IL-62 including ones purchased/leased from other airlines. 'Flying coffin' was the name given to the B 707 in the '60s following a string of crashes (> twice the IL-62 rate).

  • @augusta613 do the research key word "flying coffin": "Two particular aircraft commonly in use in Iran are the Tupolev Tu-154 also known among Iranians as "flying coffins" and the Ilyushins 76, the Soviet-era workhorses for Russian civil air fleets. " How ironic, that Tu- 154 just crashed this weekend... Russians can't make good planes, no excuse me couldnt, dont wanna judge their planes today, although only few airlines use it. To make a Russian plane safe, thousands of $ have to be spend

  • @KAzik10001 Tragically Iran has a bad record of ALL planes (see ASN), and it has sanctions on aviation parts. Polish TU-154 crash was great loss for Poland but no evidence of technical failure. It was warned to divert & not land in vis 500m. TU-154 has a good safety record and many operated where western planes can't. IL-76 is a popular freighter in many countries esp on humanitarian flights in war/dangerous conditions.

  • Comment removed

  • @TonyFirelli bullshit, to prove you wrong il62 that crashed around 1980's, problem was solely caused by improper construction of that producer.

  • Comment removed

  • @KAzik10001 Without doubt this plane has the best record of its class/era. Operated by 20+ nations it is highly regarded. Polish archives released in 2010 show that LOT had deep financial crisis (as did the whole country with strikes/labour unrest in '80s) and were instructed to exceed all jet engine service lives to save costs. The engine that failed in 1980 had caused problems on 2 other IL-62s but was still fitted. LOT did no turbine-vibration checks before '87, critical to this design

  • Il 62 is a copy of British Vickers VC 10 cargo plane and in the mid 70's was already out of date.

  • Flying coffin....

  • All airplanes are about the same

  • can anyone tell me the name of the siger and the song! italian sounds so beautyful!!!

  • The singer is Gianna Nannini and the song is "Meravigliosa creatura"

    bye

  • thanks a lot but a few days ago i wrote "meravigliosa creatura" in the search box of youtube and found out who's singing!

i speak a little bit of italian :D

  • In 1977 an AEROFLOT's IL-62 crashed on landing at Havana Intl airport.

In 1989 another IL-62 crashed on take off at the same airport.

  • Correct - Havana can be tricky esp during tropical storms. In 1977 was СССР86614which came in at an incorrect approach and hit power transmission lines. In 1989 was Cubana CU-T128 trying to takeoff during a storm when she got caught in powerful downdrafts and hit airport navigational aerials and a hillside before crashing. CU-T1281was the only Cubana fatality in 30 years service with 28 planes.

  • read about polish IL 62 in 1980 and IL 62m in 1986.Russian morons took out every other ball from the bearings of the turbine shaft and in additions they made a several holes in this bearings which resulted in two fatal crashes in which over 250 people lost their lives.

  • How is it that people as disrespectful as these post-cold war-dated brain washed people con litter a technical beauty and poetic page as this one ?

Release , easy , calm down, as if things were so wonderful on this side.

  • IL 62 - the best example of russian "technology" :) lol !!!

  • What about "polish" technology? Any flying "kurwski"?

  • Something good for your little mind:

    watch?v=C-_YKCear0s

  • YES, Im gonna go and do it with love to my women (and it isn't my duty) you russian bumboy :-D

so go and sit on your KY jelly you fucking soviet queen!

  • Il-62M was a piece of crap. A two crashed in Poland during the 80' because of the engine production defects. In fact originally it was transportation plane adjusted to public transport conditions. Unfortunately due to its original purpose it was designed to not all legal requirements demanded by civil transportation regulations were met. In that two mishaps 300 people died and we lost excellent LOT crews. How the 62Ms can still be used? It's extremely dangerous.

  • Such a bullshit =)))

  • you're fucking russian wanker

  • Ooohh little polish motherfucker here you are again =)))

Who dissmised you from your sucking duty? Go back to sucking Now!! It's an order, you slave!

  • It was apparently only dangerous with LOT and had better safety than VC10, 707, DC8/9 & no fatality between 1989-2009. In 43 years, 41 airlines operated Il-62s yet the only fatal engine failure of this type was with LOT which must surely tell you something. LOT could not even remove engines for servicing and should never have bought planes they could not maintain esp in the chaotic Solidarity period. LOT also leased Aeroflot & Tarom maintained Il-62s, without a single incident.

  • so if you think that these Il 62 failures was happened only to LOT i recommend you to watch "Il 62 EN SANTO DOMINGO" on youtube.

  • "The only fatal engine failure of this type was with LOT" is correct. The Cubana plane landed safely - they operated 28 IL-62s (1979-2010) and had some of the oldst planes in service. LOT's fatal accident rate with the IL-62 was 30 times the IL-62 average. They ran them for 3000-3500 hrs between overhauls (2000-2500 hrs is usual for an IL-62) with no turbine testing between. They only started doing them after 1987 after which they had no accidents of this type.

  • they were lucky that they made it to the airport

  • You don't know realism of life in communist block, we were forced to buy this crap, with that kind of service agreement. Any western manufacturer would correct mistake after one disaster. Russians knew about engine problems and for 6 years they kept producing it without any changes. IN addition everything on the plane was made with easy combustible materials.

  • How many crashes were there of DC-10, DH Comet and Boeing due to fuselage/mechanical failures before the causes were rectified? Rudder problems in 737s were only corrected after several crashes and undercarriage/fuselage 707 problems were never fully addressed which is reflected in its accident rate. The DC-10 was only relegated to a largely cargo career following a string of crashes of causes (engine/fuselage) and 4 of 9 Comet 1s crashed before DH looked at the problem.

  • The chief engineer of Lockheed Robert Ormsbi after thorough consultation with the plane held a press conference where he said: "IL-62" - this is well and cleverly worked out, practical design. This is a well-designed aircraft. Russian, of course, have a well-deserved pride in his flight, so it is worth. "For the IL-62 was probably only a high horizontal position of feathers. And that, ultimately, helped find the optimal location pod that provides a significant reduction in noise passenger cabin.

  • Which advantages give engines on the back?

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Какие приимущества даёт расположение двигателей позади самолёта? Или просто ради гламура?

  • The advantage of engines in the back is, that the aircraft can also land on unsurfaced runways

(there´ve been some in the past / in Russia),

because dirt and dust can´t reach the engines so easy, like it could with engines under the wings.

  • Some can. The DC-9, for example, can't. Even though its engines are mounted on the tail, anything the main tires kick up goes straight through the engines. The 737-200, on the other hand, did quite well on gravel, even though its engines were very close to the ground. (They did, however, have to use engine bleed air to dissiapte the intake vortex so it wouldn't suck stuff it.)

  • можно взлетать с впп плохого качества, можно садиться на короткие впп ("до упора" держать реверс не беспокоясь что засосёт мусор), характеристики крыла улучшаются и можно установить низко на фюзеляже - комфорт при взлёте и посадке...

  • Russian and American pilots are the best in the world

  • IL62 similar to VC-10 but not a direct copy. The IL62 is more long haul than VC-10.

  • very nice airplane...

  • My father was a captain of the plaine. He sais it is the best plaine.I like it too))))

  • nice song , who singer ?

  • Seems, Loredana Berte

  • Pleas watch the video "The Truth About Useless F-35 & F-22 [ Sukhoi Stealth Killers ] [ PowerRussia ]"

  • What is this song title?

  • Meravigliosa creatura by Gianna Nannini

  • thanks , realy happy with that song !

  • Russian planes are very good. American airplanes are also very good. I don't recall a U.S. plane with four rear-mounted engines, however.

  • European? like airbus is very good.

  • There actuality is no American plane with 4 rear-mounted engines. And yeah, Russian planes are pretty amazing.

  • Beautiful... Piece of junk.

Kopernik's and Kosciuszko's Passengers - rest in peace.

  • Bestyjka007 -super, now you can lick ass to americans...

  • Bestyjka007 - you the stupid monkey!!!

  • hmm, Russian airliners are fairly safe, the best example of this is Aeroflot, its the national carrier and is the largest operator of soviet built aircraft, and it has a very good safety record. It is also important to say that a lot of accidents were caused by the lack of computer equipment on board, thus making the pilots job harder and making him more prone to mistakes. Today aeroflot maintains all its aircraft to international standards as its standard policy and their record is very good.

  • Il-62 great plane. The flying coffin...

  • Don't quit agree. Sturdier yeas. But as in the case of IL-62 there was a serious construction or rather manufacture failure. The engines main axle could just brake. This didn't just destroyed the particular engine but also the neighbouring engine and caused fire in the aeroplane itself.

  • Ah ok, yes maybe the Il-62, my bad, yes it was such a reliable plane. I think i was thinking of the Tu-154 or other such similar jets. Thanks for correcting me :)

  • Ту-154 Самый быстрый в мире. Из пассажирских.

  • skol'ko skorost'?

  • As i said earlier - GO EDUCATE YOURSELF!

  • Il-62 is for sure nice-looking plane, fast, comfortable. According to AirDisaster there were 10 accidents with fatalities (and 12 crashes in total). After 1992 LOT Polish Airlines retired all (6) Il-62M and sell them to Ukraine. After 1987 Il-62M were equipped with better vibration-control systems (to avoid explosion of engine) and additional, emergency steering system (doubled). In 1992 LOT Polish Airlines sell all 6 Il-62M to Ukraine, where they still fly...

  • sure 1 or 2 maybe still be flying... Again thanks to Polish LOT, who took care of its il-62 equipping it with vibration control, which warned the pilot, before anything bad happened. Interestingly PLL LOT did engine checkups pretty often and oil check after every flight... Result? 6 of checked engines were already damaged and could be a result for another diseaster. Also after "Kościuszko" and "Kopernik", Polish LOT had the safest IL62 and that's why they managed to sell those planes.

  • U are one incredibly arrogant polish guy. If Russian aviation is so shit, then show me what is so great about Polish aviation? What has it achieved? where are you 950km/h passenger airliners? and where are you fighter jets which you seem to be so proud about? please show me. If Russian aviation is so crap then polish aviation must be even worse. 254 built and how many crashed 12? wow thats actually good compared with Boeing 727 737 and the 747, which are "better" planes but still they fuck up.

  • contemporarymonk

OK boyo. I think you are talking about the achievements of the Soviet Union. You sucked out so many great Nations so you afforded to build your crappy aircrafts. Today you can only suck your mother earth (gas and oil) and like Arabs finance your (imperialistic) state. But once the oil and gas ends you will become an empty (Russian population diminishes rapidly) taiga and steppe. That's your future. PS. Long life for Georgia!

  • Polish aviation was perfectly OK (pre WW II) till Ruskis comies came to Poland uninvited. Look at the difrence in Eastern and Western Germany after 45 years of Russian "Friendship". If that nation is so great... Why ALL they neighbours hate them so much ???

  • Some question about 1939. :)

How many German planes Poles have brought down? How many planes could fly up?

How many bombs it has been dumped?

  • Germans used 1836 planes ( including 216 fighters) during atack on Poland. Polish army had 449 planes.

Germans had lost 285 planes, Poland 333 (Rest managed to get to Romania) That gives 1,16 Polish plane lost per German plane taken down.

In first day of operation Barbarossa it was 35 German planes lost for 2000 Russian shooten down(57:1). Indead... Astonishing success of Red Army :P

  • althought Poland lost many planes, Polish pilots saved England, thats for sure... without 303 Polish Fighter Squadron England would go down, like France...

  • OMG! You're sick!

  • ?? Fact, proof? All you do is call people names? OMG! You're childish!

  • "Polish pilots saved England" (c) KAzik10001

That is an statement of a sick polish bastard.

  • Sorry dude, I refrain from saying something rude to you. I don't want to be involved in this discussion you've had but for God's sake watch out what you're saying.

KAzik10001 daj spokój temu ruskiemu - to cep jakiś i tyle. Nie ma co.

  • Więc kto jest idiotą? Twoje słowa są ze sobą sprzeczne, dziecko. Szkoda, naprawdę zaczął myśleć, że Polacy mają odpowiednich ludzi. Okazało się myliłem

  • Dobra misie kochane. Czegoś nie rozumiem kto jest kim i o co tu chodzi. Krzyzyk na drogę.

  • To powinno zwrócić KAzik10001. ;)

  • naucz się polskiego kretynie zanim zaczniesz go używać! twoja wypowiedz jest pozbawiona jakiegokolwiek sensu idioto. zresztą jak wszystkie inne ruski cwelu

  • Poland's territory no is bigger than it was before WW2.

    Thank to russians eh? Kurwa

  • Poland was under russian rule till 1918 (or so). There were no complaints AFAIK.

  • This plane was copied from one of english plane of goods from years 60. From produced 256 items fell on earth 14. In Polish Air Lines LOT in year 1980 and 1987 crashed two such planes. The reasons of crashes were drawbacks of materials in engines. Though information delivered to side Russian planes were far produced in bad quality and far fell.

  • You're not only bad in history. You're also bad in simple mathematics.14 of 256 is not even close to 10% as you said earlier.Lies #1.

If you'd used your brain ever, you'd have had found out more on history of Ilyushin IL-62, Ilyushin IL-62M and Vickers VC-10. But you never did use your brain and just ate the shit your nazi daddy told you once upon a time. Lies #2 (About Vickers).

And the last one-your whole life, whole country, whole nation is a tragedy.

  • Go educate yourself, курва пердолевана!

  • Greetings for uncle Stalin :) hehe. Ehhh .. poor, mendacious nation, from which laughs whole world. Sorrow crushes you that are russian-boy :) Bye, bye.

IL-62 is the best .... in Russia of course :) hehe

    Lies #3

  • ...and second tragedy. Fly Warsaw - New York in 1980 year: watch?v=z-fE3JUZRPo

Same reason case. The drawback of manufacturing engines. You will blow-out embankments and turbines. Bad materials and bad enforcement.

  • Poor, communist russian boy ... Greetings from Poland :) Have a nice day :)

  • Your father is a communist, bitch. As were all polish in 1918-1941 era - hookers .

    Stop whining...

  • OK, fine. One note: please do not offend Polish (I'm Polish as well).

  • There a idiots among russian as well. But i really hate when that primitive stupidity deep inside breaks through the mind of a reasonable men. This didnt help germans in 30s-40s, this wont help any other nation.

  • That shit produced in Soviet Union 256 items. It fell on earth almost 10 percent. Tragedy !!!

  • Kiss my polish ass :) stupid communist russian :)

  • I'd rather Kick it once again... slave...

  • That shit produced in Soviet Union 256 items. It fell on earth almost 10 percent. Tragedy !!!

  • Shut your fukcing mouth polish KURVA. Stop all that sh*t that spills out of your mouth - leave to your mother. Your so-called polish pilots should have learned more to care the advanced planes. And technishians learned more on how to take care of planes.

Continue on sucking US di*k... Nation of hookers

  • Stupid nation - stupid engeeners - flying shit :)

  • kazik You were born with a syndrome Down or to you have washed brain propagation of the USA?;)

  • little offtopic, just today Aeroflot 737 down...
