THE 535 MEMBERS OF CONGRESS HAS A NET WORTH OF 2.4 BILLION DOLLARS BETWEEN THEM, THEY WANT TO THANK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND THE CORPORATE CEO,s FOR THEIR CORPORATE ENTITLEMENT PROGRAMS AND DONATIONS - HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CONGRESS!
OK, I can see why janitors want more income and better jobs. Who doesn't?? But, you cannot get blood from a turnip. If the landlords are making incredible amounts of money and not adequately compensating their workers, it's reasonable that they should receive more income/benefits as a share of prosperity. However, reality is that fascist central govt is controlling the market to prevent entrepreneurs from rising and producing real wealth. Monopoly via govt is central problem here.
we are 99%..... we are too big for them to co opt.... because we are learning a lot of diverse truths... and we ARE learning and mulling... WE are too big to fail
I just hope the union members don't let the Democratic Party use them and their involvement to try to co-op and transform the Occupy Movement's energy into the re-election campaign of Obama.
The Dems + GOP = The two wings of the US Corporate Party
@blunt1984 you are right. I was thinking the same thing. I don't want to see the Democratic party weasel into this. I would like to see these demonstrations evolve into a third party movement.
2:10 What this guy does not understand is that "tough economic times" means the market price of labor is down. It does not matter if it is a 20 billion dollar industry or a 100 billion dollar industry or whether or not the industry has the capacity to pay. They are trying to push their labor cost as low as possible. They don't care about your costs of living. You should be pushing for the highest wages you can get. That is the only way you can get close to a wage rate that reflects their profits
I suppose we could collect children from single mothers, or fathers, and load them on police buses to take their places. Who needs janitors? (ah ... sarcasm; funny I actual worry that some folks might take me seriously!)
Ratio of pay CEO vs average worker - Japan 11:1, Germany 12:1, France 15:1, Italy 20:1, Canada 20:1, South Africa 21:1, Britain 22:1, Mexico 47:1, Venezuela 50:1, United States 475:1.This inequality of wealth distribution needs to stop and it will stop if the people don't give up the fight for whats right
I was with the Teamsters back in the 80's and they never fucking went to bat for me, that's for damn sure. Fucking Teamster pussies. Oh, but they sure as hell loved that monthly dues that they take out of your check before you ever see it. Yep, they sure love all that monthly dues money.
Protesters should be a bit smarter about putting up a slogan with we r the 99%. We already know we are therefore they need to change it to FEDS OUT, or GoLd Standard is Safety,
@yo1dude1man "God Bless those Americans that take jobs others don't want. They should be paid a decent living income, and given proper benefits too, period!"
-What REALLY needs to be done is the abolishment of money and replace all human labor with machines and technology.
still doesn't validate the movement. At the end of the day, OWS is just an ignorant left-wing movement that wants more regulation, and a welfare state. Both of which are either inefficient, not feasible, counter-productive, or all of the above.
@JackofOneTrade567 More regulation is good. Also, they aren't looking for a welfare state. They want corruption out of politics. Citizens United overturned, get rid of the Federal Reserve. Would be nice to return to the gold standard too, but that's not going to happen. Too easy to create money from nothing with a fiat currency.
@LiberaLib "yeah, because if efficiency is what you're after, you really can't beat totalitarian fascism."
Totalitarianism rarely leads to efficiency. Examples from the left include the USSR, Cuba, China (under Mao), N. Korea. Examples from the right include Italy (under Mussolini), most ME Arab countries w/ dictators.
@JackofOneTrade567 There can be no free market so long as there is central government of man. A true free market is the end of all force and is fully voluntary with no state and no currency. This kind of market can exist only when God is present supernaturally by His Spirit in sufficient power to STRIKE DEAD TRESPASSERS and EVILDOERS -- to maintain boundaries and liberties with zero human force or power. Acts 2, 4, 5. Revelation 11.
@graceexplosion Ya, that's great. I'm an atheist, and something tells me that the words 'free-market' and 'currency' are no where to be found in the bible.
@JackofOneTrade567 History tells us otherwise. Let's compare the Social Democratic, keynesian Golden Age to the era of unfettered, unregulated, free-market fundamentalism
During the Golden Age(1951-73), average global growth was at 4.8%, global inflation at 3.9% and unemployment in France and Britain was at 1.2% and 1.6%
During the Washington Consensus(1979-2008), average global growth was at 3.2%, global inflation at 3.2% and unemployment in France and Britain was at 9.5% and 7.4%
@atosafi1 Hey! How dare you use facts and data to support your argument! Free Marketers don't appreciate it when you use that science stuff to debunk their religi…. errr I mean theories!
@atosafi1 "History tells us otherwise. Let's compare the Social Democratic, keynesian Golden Age to the era of unfettered, unregulated, free-market fundamentalism"
Your data is far to broad brush to be meaningful in terms of establishing causality.
Keynesian Golden Age? Far easier to associate the "good times" with the post WWII rebirth than any particular gov't policies.
Washington Consensus? France and Britain's unemployment can be better explained by the shift towards socialism.
@atosafi1 Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly. The central controllers really CAN gain control and use power to release growth -- but that's not their nature. It's the bait. Because once you come into central control -- it will be wielded by the most evil of men. And the trap will be laid to enslave and kill you. Human nature.
So anyone know labor law in NYC? Just curious if they could go to having contractors. I know when unions strike here business tends to reorganize and simply get rid of that problem by outsourcing.
I no longer clean, thats along time ago, but I say all janitors should go on strike, and let the top learn how to use a broom, or vaccum, or change a trash bag.
Jantior job is a thankless job, but the top doesnt understand this. they only realize this when there finished taking a shit and theres no toilet paper left!
All those CEO's & VP's will experience the full force of this strike when they realize that there are no more hand towels or toilet paper in the executive washroom.
bullshit. not everybody is supposed to live in manhattan, it's for the rich , go back to another burrow. don't like being treated badly?? janitor is like the bottom of the barrel job. not exactly like a collegge level job.
@Chaoitcme they should be glad they even have a high paying manhattan job. this is an opportunity to just do the job for a set rate instead of milking somebody's payroll. compete in the marketplace and do the job as your own janitor service instead of demandng all kinds of benefits a janitor does not deserve. reallly it's one of the lowest jobs a person can have, step it up and do it as your own business instead of a wage slave making somebody else rich. a job is not a prison, just leave.
@circusboy90210 So if everyone who has a bottom of the barrel job gets some "self respect," and goes to college (lets just keep this simple for arguments sake and say that all those people magically have enough money to complete college)... where's all the jobs for them you fucking moron?
There's not enough jobs right now for all the students that just currently graduated.
@sk8tafrnk loans grants and scholarships will get anybody through college. a job is not the only way to make a living , the marketplace is waiting for real compeition. hurling insults shows your lack of breeding, intelligence, social stature , and lack of understanding of the subject . education creates opportunity.
