the sentries and the companion cube... I hated killing them. I spared all the sentries I could by picking them up and placing them carefully standing up in a corner so they didn't turn off, and the companion cube haunts me to this day :( I'm not lieing....

The companion cube is a phycological experiment. Thats why the game refer to it so much. It was the only way to get player to use it to solve the puzzle.

@TheSnowii Originally, this game had no REAL plot, as it was just a small game produced by a small team on a small budget. Valve picked up a group of people they were interested in, and they let them make this game as a "trial" of sorts, to see if they could make something good. And they did. Portal became a smash hit. So now Portal 2 is on its way, and it'll be an actual stand-alone game. As for the plot...You're a prisoner, you're a test subject to a slightly vengeful computer...period.

@TheSnowii chell doesnt die she gets put in stasis and returns for no.2, also in no.2 in the coop you play as 2 androids so theres your worker robots for you and finally the reason why the main character is a human is so that you can sympaphize with them and put yourself in their shoes and better understand the story. in essensce its just good story telling (btw im a games designer and thats why im so anal about this so sorry x) )
