I totally agree. Viper and Grand prix legends are so good even now. I started off with Pitstop 2 but wanting more realism then I found Revs+ still on the C64 which you could control with an Atari paddle as an analogue wheel. Viper racing was so ahead of its time. It's a shame the online play was so undersupported.

Great vid :) This game was so awesome, I played it for hours on end. One of the best racing games ever. Great physics, great AI, great feel, super campaign mode. You really got into the whole rivalry thing with the AI drivers. It wasn't a super-easy affair like most racing games are now a days where you just win every race in the first go.

Been thinking about digging it out again.

Many hours of fun in this game. My first sim and I didn't even know it :) Very good game because on easy lvl it was like a very good arcade game that could appeal to most people (like me the first times I tried playing it with a joystick) and also a realistic mode that I think compares very well with a lot of modern seems, at least the handling of the car feels realistic :)

Also the career mode was very well done unlike a lot of racing games with similar modes!

Great video of a great game. I'm currently re-playing thru all of the older Sims I used to play. Playing this one now (just made Pro on Career mode), then will follow it up with SCGT -- also a great oldie. Remarkable to think Viper Racing came out in 1998.

I recently got back into this game, and when your racing for money, put the damage on, at the biging of race, turn around a drive the wrong way, then when the other 7 cars are coming, crash into them, then it the reset and turn around again and crash into all of them before they can finish, (they will lap you) but once they'll all dead, you can do the laps and come in first place and get the up grades quicker

I still play it nowdays, and i mod it too, now i have something like 8 different vipers (based on the standard one)

lol whoever rated this 1 star must be an absolute moron.

this game was groundbreaking both graphically, and gameplaywise. and it had a nice replay feature too. not to mention the career mode.

oh, and the majority of fools around today couldn't play it either. Turn off the driving aids and they'd spin out and throw a tantrum, that's why games are so shit these days. because they have to appeal to the masses of zombies who want to be experts at a game the instant they touch the control
