also you mention the teeth trap and how did the numbers get written under his gums.. if you look carefully when bobby is looking at the numbers on the teeth after he pulls them out,you can see there are bits of wire attached to the teeth. so hoffman must have taken the teeth out while bobby was unconscious,wrote the numbers,then attached them back into his gums with the bits of wire. i agree with your comments,but just these parts i thought i would defend!! :)

love your review,however in defence to the film you mentioned how does hoffman come up with the traps,well they were designed by jigsaw long before the events of the film take place,all hoffman is doing is putting the people in the traps. and in know the final trap at the end seemed very elaborate,however jigsaw, like i said would have constructed it for years before it is used in this film.
I thought the first hour of the movie, was a huge let down. The ending I thought was brilliant and pure genius, but it didn't save the first hour. I love the Saw franchise, but this was not a worthy conclusion
@superbadstudio You might think it's genius until you realize that the fans guessed it after Saw 2 came out, and in the DVD commentary for Saw 2 the director and writers said the fans were wrong... which means the new writers decided to make it up along the way. It's just crap.

What they did was they forgot that the Saw franchise is a serious movie. They just made it a gimmicky 3D gorefest with a little bit of a story tacked on. It was a shame.

I thought the other 2 pigs at the end were the 2 guys at the beginning in the public trap... although totally unnecessary. I thought the twist with Dr. Gordon was great because I just wanted to know what happened to him... but now that you bring up that point about his family and all that, it just doesn't make sense. Thanks for the review, pretty much sums up the whole movie.
One thing to say about Gordon, when you're wondering why he jumped straight into helping Jigsaw after getting out of the bathroom - in one of the earlier films, can't remember which one, there's a scene where Jigsaw is explaining to Amanda after she survives the bear trap that she must now be his accomplice and has no choice; maybe the same applied to Gordon and maybe Jigsaw would've targeted him again if he refused.
The movie itself wasn't AWESOME, it was good. The main twist in the end with doctor gordon was pretty god damn awesome, so i guess they ended it quite well with that twist. but the movie itself wasnt super awesome

I agree. On all points. Always loved the films; the new ones always came out around my B-day (October 27th), so it was a B-day tradition for me to go see them. Saw 3D was disappointing, ridiculous, pathetic, and embarrassing. I'm sure there are more adjectives (and a few expletives), but if I get started I'll go past my character limit. One thing I MUST say, that you didn't mention... what up with the make-up? The blood was PINK. Ugh. I don't know what happened, but it was horrible. Just awful.

I invested a lot of time thinking about these movies, too. We never learn John's real message--"appreciating life", what the hell's that supposed to mean? It's so general and broad. Why they put Bobby Dagen in there, I have no f--king clue--he has nothing to do with the other movies. I've always been a big fan of Dr. Gordon...but still, his story didn't make sense, and I wanted to know what happened to his family and how he changed. I was thoroughly disappointed with Saw3D.

Blane the producers NOT the writers. In the dvd comentary they had a really good story but the producers made them rush and change it. I loved it cuz I am a Saw Worshiper but I do agree with alot of your points. My favorite Saw film after the first three is 6.
the thing that frustrated me is the bobby's story, why the hell did they add on a whole new shit that takes like 75 % of the movie when they dint even answered lot of crucial questions in the previous series..
i LOVED Saw 3D!!! I understand your points. I just thought the ending was EPIC! Dr. Gordan's comback, in my opinion, was a REALLY cool idea. My only disappointment is that Jill dies... I really thought she would be the one to kill Hoffman in the end. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite Saws for the amount of action in it. My favorites are 3, 6 and 7.

Then we see a doctor comforting Bobby and the camera pans up to reveal Doctor Gordon. That would've been fucking amazing. Also, the connection with the Public trap was John's little shout out to the world, it was supposed to be like an earlier trap. And it was supposed to be kind of like a teaching thing for Dr. Gordon. It is true that they lied a lot to us and it's bullshit. His way out for Jill was that Hoffman was supposed to die in 6. Yes, it was crap and I'm sorry, I too am an avid Saw...
Personally speaking, if you listen to the writers commentary on the DVD, Saw 3D was supposed to be a two part ending, Saw VII and Saw VIII. If they'd gotten to do that, it would have probably been better. Some of the stuff that doesn't make sense such as the Public Trap and Bobby Dagen, the way they were orignally gonna do it makes a ton more sense. I really loved how at the end of the should have been part 7 where they bring Bobby into the hospital in self pity over getting everyone killed...
i agree with you, i loved 1-5 A LOT, saw 6 was pretty good, but 3d was a real disapointed. like the name, 3D instead of 7, it made me feel it was a side-movie.
Finally after almost a year i watch your complete review i just finish watching saw 7 and i'm also a fan but i really find this last installament pretty bland i mean it was like only a joke a prank to us the fans of the series , i'm hoping that they just let the saga end if i dont want to see another saw that it's main objective it's to get as many $ as posible thats not the art of making films.

The original ending was Hoffman killing Jill, game over... blah blah blah, and in the commentary the writers said that they just needed the bathroom at the end so they rushed up and threw it into the end, I mean how would he even know what to do from Jigsaw's tape, John explained nothing barley at all to Gordon and what to do?

@Eric. Ever since I saw saw (2004) I have been in love with this series. I will never forget the pure "HOLY SHIT" moment I had at the end of the first one. The story line of saw 1 through 3 were amazing. 4 through 6 were okay. Saw 3D was not made to continue the story line at all, it was to milk the series as much more as they could. Over use of gore. Ragtag group of actors. Stupid traps. 3D... in a saw movie. Just all of it. I can't believe one of the best horror series's of all time came here.
Saw 3D was terrible. I love the saw series but you can tell that they weren't even trying. The traps were terrible and they didn't answer questions. They just created more. This was my least favorite movie of 2010
I Personally enjoyed Saw 3D but by all means is one of the weaker sequels. I just loved the Dr. Gordon twist cuz thats how I wanted the series to end since Saw V. But you are right about the plot holes. What's weird in the dvd commentery the writers talked about ideas for the movie that "didnt make the cut" and they would of made the Dr. Gordon twist make alot more sence. I was sad that Jill died but it was cool to see the reversebeartrap in action.
Man don't ever feel you are bashing a film, you never bashed this film. I myself also review movies and I agree with your formula of trying to give a film its day in court per say. I have never been a huge fan of the series I liked the first three but after that I felt the films were on a downhill slope in quality. I know you have always liked these movies.
Also keep in mind since we live in the reboot era, this film series will be rebooted in twenty years, I hope not but you never know.

We hardcore fans (and as you said, not worshippers) should produce, write, film, and edit our own ending. Okay, actually, filming and editing it would be very difficult...maybe write a script and somehow publish it on the internet somewhere, because I am as disappointed as you are. Spot-on on every point you make.

@scruffybubblez yeah here's an interesting theory: (that was obviously thrown out by the writers, if it had been true) when Perez said something about "everyone knowing" she meant all the Jigsaw survivors and accomplices...only reason I think she could be in on it as well is that after Saw IV, she was a patient at the St. Eustace Hospital from the face wounds from the doll explosion, and she somehow ran into Dr. Gordon, where he explained what Jigsaw/John was really trying to do.

I feel the same way man. I have been a fan of the films right along with you and watching your videos of excitement and speculation all along. It was so exciting to see Gordon but then to have all of these questions raised and stuff happen that didn't really relate to anything and all the traps be formed for the sole purpose of 3D was really disappointing and sad. It was still a great journey though.
A better ending would have been Gordon having a second test. He didn't pass his test in Saw I. His game was to kill Adam by 6 and he failed. Sure, he got out of the bathroom because Adam killed Zep but John should have left Gordon to die or gave him a different test. They should make a Saw VIII because the beginning tape from Saw IV where it says that Hoffman is PROBABLY the last man standing, could foreshadow if Gordon received a test which he passed.

This movie made me want to cry!:( I love saw so much and always have but this movie just killed the mood and great plot! The only good part was when Jill gets the beartrap, but it was ruined because of the half-assed lighting (which was very bright and not gritty at all) and the (too)quick editing:P

I thought the other 2 pigs at the end were the 2 guys at the beginning in the public trap... although totally unnecessary. I thought the twist with Dr. Gordon was great because I just wanted to know what happened to him... but now that you bring up that point about his family and all that, it just doesn't make sense. One thing to say about Gordon, when you're wondering why he jumped straight into helping Jigsaw after getting out of the bathroom - in one of the earlier films, can't remember which one, there's a scene where Jigsaw is explaining to Amanda after she survives the bear trap that she must now be his accomplice and has no choice; maybe the same applied to Gordon and maybe Jigsaw would've targeted him again if he refused.

I thought the public trap was cool. but there should have been a story built behind them. you know? like..a public humiliation. but when that girls guts were on the floor it literally looked like Final Destination 4. 100%. I agree. On all points. Always loved the films; the new ones always came out around my B-day (October 27th), so it was a B-day tradition for me to go see them. Saw 3D was disappointing, ridiculous, pathetic, and embarrassing. I'm sure there are more adjectives (and a few expletives), but if I get started I'll go past my character limit. One thing I MUST say, that you didn't mention... what up with the make-up? The blood was PINK. Ugh. I don't know what happened, but it was horrible. Just awful.

I invested a lot of time thinking about these movies, too. We never learn John's real message--"appreciating life", what the hell's that supposed to mean? It's so general and broad. Why they put Bobby Dagen in there, I have no f--king clue--he has nothing to do with the other movies. I've always been a big fan of Dr. Gordon...but still, his story didn't make sense, and I wanted to know what happened to his family and how he changed. I was thoroughly disappointed with Saw3D.

Agreed the Movie was by far the weakest Entry in the Series. didn't need to be in 3D. in my opinion and acting was down rigt terrible at times. hopefully James wan and Lee Wanell make 1 more and tie everything together and then end the series.

all i ever say about this movie, is it was a fan pleaser and killed all the points of saw that people loved. i love all the movies and i agree the 1st 3 are the best but except for the ending which was predictable this WAS horrible movie. the 3d was unnecesarry and they went real low budget on the gore i could tell how fake it was so i didnt even wince or symathize with deaths like the past ones made me do. if you just went for the gore this is teh movie for you, if u went 4 stroy u got fucked!

i LOVED Saw 3D!!! I understand your points. I just thought the ending was EPIC! Dr. Gordan's comback, in my opinion, was a REALLY cool idea. My only disappointment is that Jill dies... I really thought she would be the one to kill Hoffman in the end. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite Saws for the amount of action in it. My favorites are 3, 6 and 7.

Then we see a doctor comforting Bobby and the camera pans up to reveal Doctor Gordon. That would've been fucking amazing. Also, the connection with the Public trap was John's little shout out to the world, it was supposed to be like an earlier trap. And it was supposed to be kind of like a teaching thing for Dr. Gordon. Personally speaking, if you listen to the writers commentary on the DVD, Saw 3D was supposed to be a two part ending, Saw VII and Saw VIII. If they'd gotten to do that, it would have probably been better. Some of the stuff that doesn't make sense such as the Public Trap and Bobby Dagen, the way they were orignally gonna do it makes a ton more sense. I really loved how at the end of the should have been part 7 where they bring Bobby into the hospital in self pity over getting everyone killed...

Finally after almost a year i watch your complete review i just finish watching saw 7 and i'm also a fan but i really find this last installament pretty bland i mean it was like only a joke a prank to us the fans of the series , i'm hoping that they just let the saga end if i dont want to see another saw that it's main objective it's to get as many $ as posible thats not the art of making films.

The original ending was Hoffman killing Jill, game over... blah blah blah, and in the commentary the writers said that they just needed the bathroom at the end so they rushed up and threw it into the end, I mean how would he even know what to do from Jigsaw's tape, John explained nothing barley at all to Gordon and what to do?

@Eric. Ever since I saw saw (2004) I have been in love with this series. I will never forget the pure "HOLY SHIT" moment I had at the end of the first one. The story line of saw 1 through 3 were amazing. 4 through 6 were okay. Saw 3D was not made to continue the story line at all, it was to milk the series as much more as they could. Over use of gore. Ragtag group of actors. Stupid traps. 3D... in a saw movie. Just all of it. I can't believe one of the best horror series's of all time came here.

I Personally enjoyed Saw 3D but by all means is one of the weaker sequels. I just loved the Dr. Gordon twist cuz thats how I wanted the series to end since Saw V. But you are right about the plot holes. What's weird in the dvd commentery the writers talked about ideas for the movie that "didnt make the cut" and they would of made the Dr. Gordon twist make alot more sence. I was sad that Jill died but it was cool to see the reversebeartrap in action.

Man don't ever feel you are bashing a film, you never bashed this film. I myself also review movies and I agree with your formula of trying to give a film its day in court per say. I have never been a huge fan of the series I liked the first three but after that I felt the films were on a downhill slope in quality. I know you have always liked these movies.
Also keep in mind since we live in the reboot era, this film series will be rebooted in twenty years, I hope not but you never know.

@scruffybubblez yeah here's an interesting theory: (that was obviously thrown out by the writers, if it had been true) when Perez said something about "everyone knowing" she meant all the Jigsaw survivors and accomplices...only reason I think she could be in on it as well is that after Saw IV, she was a patient at the St. Eustace Hospital from the face wounds from the doll explosion, and she somehow ran into Dr. Gordon, where he explained what Jigsaw/John was really trying to do.

I feel the same way man. I have been a fan of the films right along with you and watching your videos of excitement and speculation all along. It was so exciting to see Gordon but then to have all of these questions raised and stuff happen that didn't really relate to anything and all the traps be formed for the sole purpose of 3D was really disappointing and sad. It was still a great journey though.

A better ending would have been Gordon having a second test. He didn't pass his test in Saw I. His game was to kill Adam by 6 and he failed. Sure, he got out of the bathroom because Adam killed Zep but John should have left Gordon to die or gave him a different test. They should make a Saw VIII because the beginning tape from Saw IV where it says that Hoffman is PROBABLY the last man standing, could foreshadow if Gordon received a test which he passed.

hahah dude u seem really pissed about this film. Its kinda funny watching this review. The saw series is kinda like a baby growing up. First its born u love it and cherish it and then the baby gets older and grown up and now it hates u.

I agree. The acting was horrible. Bobby's tests were irritating. Jill was totally downgraded. I mean she's Jigsaw's wife! The ending was a good thrill. It makes me hope for an 8th, and for the original witers to make it up to the fans. The deal with Dr. Gordon, I perceived as him getting a reboot on life. However, in that state, shouldn't Cary Elwes have lost, let's say 60 pounds, for that part? Needless to say, I am I die hard fan. Upset, but whatever. Here's to hoping for SAW VIII: Fan Apology

This movie made me want to cry!:( I love saw so much and always have but this movie just killed the mood and great plot! The only good part was when Jill gets the beartrap, but it was ruined because of the half-assed lighting (which was very bright and not gritty at all) and the (too)quick editing:P
