the photographer was my brother in law's cousin. He was just taking pictures of the riot and was completely unaware of this picture he took. When he handed it in to his boss, he praised him and then saw the picture himself.

I think what people forget that this MOMENT happened to just get captured. @jerrysaen obviously if your girlfriend was scared and you were trying to calm her down you would do what you could. Again it was a MOMENT that was captured and that moment was probably a second. Beautiful image appreciate.

@vejet I was there during the game. The trouble started literally minutes after the game ended. Like 98,000 other people of the 100,000 downtown, we got out of there. The riot police were only organized on the street HOURS later when their picture was taken. Nobody was "trapped" in the wrong area. Anyone still out on the street at this point knew exactly what was happening. Most even semi-intelligent people would get the hint to go home when they saw riot police coming down the street.

@jerrysaen Getting her up and her ass out of there would have been a better idea. Actually, not exposing your wife or GF to serious danger in the first place should have been his number one priority. Like I said in other posts, I was there, and the trouble started MINUTES after the game ended. Anyone who was not looking for trouble or wanting to hang around and watch trouble had long since left when their picture was taken.

The thing that bothers me about this couple is in the interview they express how unhappy and uncomfortable they were with all the media frenzy over the picture and how it invaded their lives. Yet, they appeared on an interview and his father spent 3-4 days after the photo went viral doing interviews.
