OK lets dispel some myths. When the spirit fell on David as the Ark returned, he was not dignified. I'm not a Christian and I know that. As for being Slain in the Spirit, You might want to talk to the Apostle Paul about that. There is nothing more undignified than being thrown from your horse! As for Mark 16:17, most folks try to put their dignified spin on it! No where in the Bible does it say that it is a prayer language. In Mark it is stated as a manifestation of God's power!
I pray better when I also speak in tongues in my prayer time. I guess that is why people think of it as a prayer language. For not being a Christian Truthnuff you know the Bible.
I agree with FillTheirVoid. Waving your hands and causing people to fall down (likely to hurt without those catchers) seems more like demon possesion than empowering of the holy spirit. YHWH's miracles are more awesome and meaningful than this. Furthermore this entire performance reminds me strongly of a hypnotist show.

@seekerofyhwh yes 1 of the great counterfeits of that particular part can b seen on video w/kenneth copeland & all of his cohorts, entire stadium filled of a bunch of Pentecostal flesh responding to a counterfeit, unholy, evil spirit which makes them not appear drunk at all, but like animals or just folks so drunk with power and money which they attribute to a holy G~d. I don't believe this at all. The Holy Spirit will empower you to over come sin not to fall on the floor and speak gibberish and shake. Demon possession is like that screaming shaking, twisting falling. I read the whole bible any time some one is filled with the spirit or they have an encounter it always says they fall to their face/knees in reverence.

It's a prayer language as well as can be another language for witnessing. None of these people screamed. But when that happens, a devil is probably being cast out. I don't see anything in scripture that says they can't also fall backwards...it's easier to catch people if they fall backwards :)

If you grab onto an electric fence, you'd probably fall backwards...God has more power than an electric fence and some people get filled to overflowing in the spirit and thus fall backwards. God's people stand upright and act properly, not look like they are demon possessed and/or holding onto an electric fence. How are people to be filled with the spirit and witness at the same time? What if they just start shaking and fall down?
@doompod people don't always shake, sometimes they just fall backwards and rest in the presence of God. When the apostles wandered around looking drunk after tongues of fire and a mighty rushing wind fell on them..most of the church would not see that as 'being proper' if they saw someone like that. There are times of refreshing and times for witnessing. Here people are getting renewed so that they will go out and witness more etc.
They thought they were full of wine because they were speaking in their own language, which they did not understand, so therefore assumed it was drunken talk, they weren't babbling around like a drunk or falling over on the floor.

The tongues in Acts 2 says that each person heard the apostles speaking fluently in their own native tongues...so it didn't sound like babble. The unknown tongues are usually as a prayer language. You weren't there, neither was I...so we don't know what they looked like...but they appeared drunk to those around. If someone walked nicely but spoke with a different accent or language..I wouldn't think they were drunk b/c of it.
There is no unknown tongues, that is a misunderstanding of "tongues" in general. And it didn't say the people who thought they were drunk "heard them speak in their own tongue". Different people.
And also, who says they were talking normally in their own language? They were most likely shouting, rejoicing for the gift of tongues. If people heard someone shouting aloud in "babble" talk they did not understand, believing they were drunk would be common to think.
