  • I hate that this piece is always associated with sadness because all I hear is JOY and love and feel uplifted.

  • Wow, they did a really good job.

  • this moving piece was played by Leonard Slatkin of BBC Orchestra on 9/15/01, which moved the whole world to tears again within a few days of the 9/11/01 tragedy.

  • Very well done!

  • Ohhhh my good....so emotional...thx for uploading....love it

  • Vietnam???? jajajajaja, why Vietnam??? why not Nagashaki???? why not victims of Stalin??

  • What a stupid remark dude, the song was chosen by Oliver Stone who made platoon, the song was not MADE specifically for the Vietnam war...

Just enjoy the beauty of the song... ;-)

  • Truly one of the most moving pieces i have heard in a long time. The first time i heard this piece was in Platoon. in reffrence to the fallen in all the wars " Those men went through hell. Now may they rest in piece."

  • великолепно

  • go...Vietnam!!!!!

  • I've heard nothing but good versions of this piece on youtube. This is just one of those pieces you can't you can't perform badly. If you do perform it badly it's like a sin. This group does a really great job!

  • heaevenly,ave

  • i like it !!!

  • Oh and i mean that reaction in a good way. Because this song is bone chilling.

A true piece of art to me.

  • The first time i heard this song was when i was watching the movie called "Platoon"

And to be honest, it so fits to that part of that movie. I mean, imagine over... 1.000.000 combatants who were killed in action in the vietnam war. imagine that while llistening to this music. So, everytime i hear this song, it reminds me of the Vietnam war and its casualties

R.I.P to all those fallen soldiers in the Vietnam War

  • Forgot the say it has to be the live version played by Sarah Chang

  • mui belo!

  • this is one of the best music ever created!!!!

it is haunting and heart wrenching at the same time.

    awesome orchestra!

  • oh dear god the first note was a little flat @_@

  • To this day Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings is the most moving piece of music i have ever listened to. He really was a genius and although originally part of a larger work he found something very special in this simple masterpiece.

  • I completely agree with you

  • Agree.. but listen to J.S. Bach's Air .. it is very moving aswell

  • oh yeah! thats a really good song too!

  • Well, we certainly thank you for your uplifting contribution here, pickleboy23.

  • They played this during JFK's funeral didn't they?

  • I'm pretty sure it was FDR's funeral

  • platoon&elephant man

  • damn.. i will cry!!Its the best song i ever hear!

  • would classical composers welcome dance music as an artform? or would they dismiss it because it isnt REAL EMOTION ITS JUST BUTTONS AND KNOBS..love this version..without classical there wouldnt be modern day dance..FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME.

  • Any music fits the definition of art, that can't be disputed. But music varies in quality. Dance music is more focused on the rhythm than anything else though I may be wrong. Whereas classical music focuses on the melody. It's like in a sentence focusing on the grammar or the meaning and the aesthetic aspect of the particular phrase. The lyrics of a rap song can conform the the definition of poetry but seriously, consider the quantum leap that separates 50 cent from Shakespeare.

  • You write very well for 19. Impressive.

  • by that do you mean that 19 year olds dont know how to write well? come on anyone with at least 15 years should be capable of writing and expressing themselves in a correct manner

  • I mean most 19 year olds aren't as articulate as you. It was a complement. A large percentage of people your age can't express themselves clearly. Their words are littered every two seconds with "like," "uh," "ummm," etc. Of course, there are plenty of exceptions. The people who speak caveman would not be listening to Samuel Barber anyway.

  • @djlucy1 I just happened to be going through the comments and saw your one. I don't think that most 19 year olds can't express themselves. Most of them can but chose not to. I am 14 and i can very well speak and type. Granted, i am scottish so a have a little slang in my vocabulary but that is besides the point. Also some just type differently because it's faster. Believe it or not "Wtf are u on about?" is readable and understandable it's just shortened for fast typing.

  • we don't talk about tiesto or orbit or another dj who wanted to profit from samuel barber.

3.48 - you can hear the sound of a hanky :D

the song is amazing, and more

  • Thumbs up for that comment buddy.

  • Great song the best of classic songs

  • human mind is like a universe. I don't know much about music, however, the mood of this music tells me that the artist might have been very disappointed from life or cercomstances in life.

  • Its amazing what humans can do, outstanding

  • PLATOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

  • Whenever I hear this song I associate it to The Elephant Man which always brings a tear to my eye.

  • Certainly a competent conventional interpretation. To my taste cloying sweet and overly "gentrified", even a little stale, as are all big orchestra interpretations, and most small orchestra ones as well. For something much more exciting (if that is the word), stronger, and much closer to Barber's original intention, check out ORI's rendition under José Atalaya's baton. Search [ORI Atalaya].

  • this is a great performance each note is so smooth and beautiful and evokes so much emotion this piece is pure genius

  • tiesto ladron choro arruinaste una obra puto come verga

  • It's Adagio for Strings, not Adagio from Strings.

  • He probably meant, adagio for strings FROM Samuel Barber... probably got a little distracted :)

  • soul touching

  • Fantastic, amazing.

  • As much as i like the techno version of this song i have to say, that the original Samuel Barber's- Adagio for Strings' amazingness makes it hard to make a bad version of this song. This will forever be my favorite song in any form that it is in.

  • Tiesto did it bad, William Orbit did it well.

  • I agree, Tiesto's version is so overrated, whereas Orbit's version is underrated.

  • you are all idiots....the only person to do this song justice is....samuel barber....its the way the song was meant to be heard....and felt..........

  • amen

  • Amen to that too. Samuel Barber's version gave me a different view of classical. Hell, even meditate to it! Trance is also meant to have a euphoric feel as well as the original Adagio for Strings, and it makes quite a good transition. :)

  • beautiful sad song, touches me and makes me really cry!

  • I can't NOT cry every time I listen to this... Most beautiful piece ever written... And I mean that.

  • really beautiful

  • wonderful theme, very gooodd

  • beautiful.

  • Ne için yazıldığı önemli değil, bana göre yazılmış, gelmiş geçmiş en iyi aşk bestesi...
