Long range sniping with an Anti-Materiel Sniper Rifle is more effective than struggling to hit something 4+ times because your sniper rifle can't do shit for damage, then getting discovered because you couldn't kill your target.

@megamanacses You've got to use the right tool for the job. Wouldn't snipe Deathclaws with a regular sniper rifle, but human targets (Fiends and the like) or lesser creatures (with a proper character build, Better Criticals, a couple ranks of Bug Stomper or Lord Death, and such, even a Giant Radscorpion goes down in one shot) are best dealt with by a silenced weapon so as not to alert the others. I play on Hardcore, so I can only carry so many .50MG Match Hand Load rounds...

I only use LMG, Marksman Carbine and Anti-materiel sniper rifle Match hand loads. It's unfortunate that 5.56/.22 rounds don't have hand loads.

@megamanacses My loadout is 12.7 pistol on 1, 12.7mm SMG on 3(the ammo's so lightweight!), AMR on 4 (for killing Deathclaws), silenced sniper rifle on 5 (for killing everything else), and Stimpaks, Desert Salad, and Gecko Kabob hotkeyed to the 6, 7, and 8 keys for rapid-fire healing even in Hardcore. I've successfully completed three no-death runs, so it must work.
