Rock and Roll as we know it started to really come into its own in the latter part of 1957. Then in 1958 it really came into full swing. Some of the best songs though were in the decade of the 1960's.
It's interesting that so many are "covers" of the original black artists: "Ain't That a Shame" (Fats Domino) and "Roll with Me Henry" by a very young Etta James. this was definitely a transition year between "white bread" standards and rock and roll... If you'd included it, Sincerely would definitely be my favorite of all (that was a remake too, but truer to the original by the Moonglows. (P.S. Love Cherry Pink too)
Doris Day released her lush and exquisite "I'll never stop loving you". I remember my brother asking the band to play that at his wedding in the summer of 1955. To this day I LOVE that song....Les Paul's & Mary Ford's "Hummingbird".
This is so diffeent from the videos from the early 1950s.

@macbot21
Was just a cover version. I`d like the original version by the black formation "the uniques".

Rock and roll has arrived! (But most people out of high school won't get into it except for some of the soft rock hits later on).
