  • "Wherever the Bishop appears, there let the multitude of the people be; just as where Christ Jesus is, there is the Catholic Church." Ignatius of Antioch, about 107 AD

  • @100PercentCatholic great quote from my favorite St there here is another...."He who does anything without the knowledge of the bishop does(in reality) serve the devil" ~ St Ignatius of Antioch circa 80-107 A.D.

  • @100PercentCatholic Jesus never started any religion. He was a jew who wanted to reform Judaism. Paul created the church we have today.

  • @ebilly99 Jesus says "You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church." (Matthew 16:18). Looks like He established a church to me.

  • @100PercentCatholic And the verse before that tells what this is, It is that Jesus is god and not by knowladge but by gods will can you know it.

  • @ebilly99 Ok, what does that have to do with Jesus saying "I build my church." Not Paul's church, but MY church.

  • Constantine was not the founder of the Catholic Church. In fact, he was at odds with the Church and many of the Bishops, And in fact, Rome continued to persecute the Church after Constantine. So this is a false statement not based on historical fact.

  • @wealththinkers Constantine simply cannot have founded Catholicism.

Tertullian references the Pontifex Maximus, the bishop of bishops (the Pope) in his "De Pudicitia" which would have to have been written sometime prior to his death in c.225.

Constantine was only born in 272! Quite a feat, starting a religion at least, I repeat, at least, 47 years before one is born!

  • @Archangel777Catholic Good point to bring up. I just is mind boggling that people can actually say stuff like this. Especially those who claim to be biblical Christians, when the facts are right in front of them. Christ founded the Church with Peter having the Keys to the Kingdom. Amen!

  • @wealththinkers It is true Constantine was not the founder of the church, the thing I do not and never will get is why all the hate on Constanine from so called Christians?...He did stop much of the mass murder of the church, I thank him and respect him for that....I do not exclude him from heaven, in fact I rather think I will find him there....though he is not a St in the church, well not in the RCC the EOC has made him a St.

  • @gtepp031387 Yea, Constantine did some good. He was on the side of Arias, and favored bringing Arias back from exile. So recognizing the faith as a legitimate was definitely a blessing. And the greater good. No man is perfect. He finally was baptized on his deathbed. Still future emperors continued to persecute the Church.

    Bless you brother!

  • @wealththinkers I did not know Constantine favored Arianism...I will have to look into that. I know he accepted the ruling of Nicea that rejected Arias....I also know Arias changed his tone in his later years and tryed to push a faith that "accepted" the creed at Nicea but was still untrinitarian, he was a very slippery fellow.

  • @gtepp031387 It was in the book the Church Fathers by Mike Aquilina. But there is some blurred lines there. Although he fought for Arias, even after the creed was established. This did not end the Arianism concepts, It was a long battle. But you may be right that Arias softened his view to be readmitted into the Church. And this was the time that Constantine favored him to be readmitted. Mike's book is pretty good but I would entertain more research on the subject. Blessings

  • because every philosophical question you have about the nature of reality and existence is going to end you back at metaphysics, because every question about the nature of reality IS A METAPHYSICAL question. Geez luiz, you make people like David Hume or Plato role in their graves.

Please, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Go back to school! I'll be happy to pay for your tuition. ;)

  • Also, the only thing Constantine did was that he made the bishops of the church have the council of Nicea because he saw that the Arian heresy was causing the split in the church, and considering church and state were almost one in the same, he saw this as dividing the empire, so he had the bishops have the council to solve this matter because in Constantine's eyes, if you have a divided church, you have a divided empire.

And please, brush up on what metaphysics is . . .

  • @thunderbolt94 So a split in the church and Constantine decided which church was real.... But thanks for offering to pay tuition. I actually am in school, thanks for offering to pay. Also until Constantine Polytheism was the religion founded by Rome. Constantine decided to use the uniting factor of the church to unify a falling empire.

Until Constantine forced the church to come up with one criterion did the Catholic church ever get born.

  • @ebilly99

"So a split in the church and Constantine decided which church was real...."

No, the bishops of the church decided the church; Constantine legalized Christianity, but did not start it. The Catholic church (which was the Christian church) was being persecuted by the Roman Empire until Constantine came onto the scene.

"Until Constantine forced the church to come up with one criterion did the Catholic church ever get born."

False. Constantine did not care either way what decision . .

  • @thunderbolt94

the bishops at the council came to. He only care that they settled the issue. And please, Constantine, again, DID NOT START the Catholic church. The church was already catholic (read the didache for example) before Constantine even remotely came onto the scene.

  • @thunderbolt94 A.D. 325, Constantine called the Council of Nicea in an attempt to unify Christianity. Constantine envisioned Christianity as a religion that could unite the Roman Empire, which at that time was beginning to fragment and divide. While this may have seemed to be a positive development for the Christian church, the results were anything but positive. Just as Constantine refused to fully embrace the Christian faith, but continued many of his pagan beliefs and practices

  • so the Christian church that Constantine promoted was a mixture of true Christianity and Roman paganism.Constantine found that with the Roman Empire being so vast, expansive, and diverse, not everyone would agree to forsake his or her religious beliefs to embrace Christianity. Constantine allowed, and even promoted, the “Christianization” of pagan beliefs. Completely pagan and utterly unbiblical beliefs were given new “Christian” identities. Clear examples of this are as follows:

  • (1) The Cult of Isis, an Egyptian mother-goddess religion, was absorbed into Christianity by replacing Isis with Mary. Many of the titles that were used for Isis, such as “Queen of Heaven,” “Mother of God,” and theotokos (“God-bearer”)

    (2) Mithraism was a religion in the Roman Empire in the 1st through 5th centuries

One of the key features of Mithraism was a sacrificial meal, which involved eating the flesh and drinking the blood of a bull. Mithras,

  • @ebilly99 the god of Mithraism, was “present” in the flesh and blood of the bull, and when consumed, granted salvation to those who partook of the sacrificial meal

(3)Most Roman emperors (and citizens) were henotheists. A henotheist is one who believes in the existence of many gods, but focuses primarily on one particular god or considers one particular god supreme over the other gods it simply replaced the pantheon of gods with the saints

  • @ebilly99 Instead of using Propaganda why not read your bible. Also Peter never was the rock, it was the statement that jesus was lord was the foundation of salvation and the church.

  • @ebilly99 Peter was definitely kaphas, rock in aramaic, and yes he was given the Keys to the Kingdom, which by the way was at hand. Not to mention given the power to loose and bind. Anyone who denies this denies Christ words that are clear as day. Believe the words.

  • @ebilly99

LOL, more fail on your part. Mithras came after Christianity, so you are once again, failing miserably on your part. And none of what you said even remotely refutes what I said.

Also, stop copying and pasting from wikipedia and presenting it off as your own thought. It makes you look like an idiot.

  • @ebilly99 hogwash, Queen of Heaven is simply based on the Kingdom of David, inherited by Christ, and MOther of God is in the Bible, just in case you didn't see it.

  • @ebilly99 Please provide Bible quotes for your claims against Catholicism.

  • @ebilly99 This is false Constantine had no decision power within the Church. The Arian Heresy was responsible for the divide, denial of Christ being both fully God and fully man. This was the issue, and Constantine side with Arias in many cases, but the Church followed it's own path guided by the Holy Spirit. It is clear through the writings of the Church Fathers that the basis for the Trinity, and the incarnation were already in place. Constantine, had no decision in the matter.

  • @ebilly99

LOL, way to copy and paste wikipedia, genius. None of that refutes ANYTHING I said.

    You obviously are a joke.

  • @thunderbolt94 Are you even listing? No of course not. Of course the Church was around but CATHOLICISM=/=Church.

Paul and Peter were not infallible.

    Salvation can not be bought.

    No purgatory

The dead are dead until Jesus returns

Mary was not a god or a saint. She doubted jesus his entire life and jesus did not consider her part of his family.

  • @ebilly99 What am I doing anyway. You want to be right fine big deal your mythology is the right one. You happy. I mean I realized I have been arguing for 2 days about something equal to if Gt is Canon or if Thor could beat up Ra.

YWHW, JESUS CHRIST, ALLAH, HG. They are all fake. If a god exist it is not any of these. Boy you are right, for a second there I was being stupid arguing over stuff that in not real... THANKS
