  • So many great covers of this classic tune.Nico and Greg Allman are my favorites.I still like JB's solo acoustic guitar version the best.

  • This is a perfect song, and this is a great version of it. Gregg Allman's is also very good.

  • this is one of my fav JB songs. u know, the one that u just play over and over again. i have not heard this song since i lost my greatest hits cd a few years ago. that was actually the first time that i heard this particular song. thanks for posting :)

  • Music is like candy, you throw away the rappers.

  • I bought this album when it came out and loved this song. Just heard it today for the first time in 35 years. Thanks. Gawd.

  • one of the crown jewels of the browne repertoire. and i must agree with mrfungo, that this, the original version of 'these days' features the lap steel guitar of david lindley in surely one of the most poignant, brilliant and inspired accompaniments and solos in folk rock history. like jerry garcia's steel guitar in gram nash's 'teach your children', it's pure magic.

  • Jackson Browne was incredibly lucky to find David Lindley....

  • incredible, a person so young, but I have been a jackson fan for years,

gregg allman does it justice also

  • sometimes the wind is right, the stars line up, and a perfect recording is made of a beautiful cry from a 16 year old prodigy. i'm glad the wind was blowing this day.

  • slow good

    beautiful song

    lovely song and

    peaceful song

  • this song was my best song

i use to listne to it every morning when i was a student at the university of

    Minnesota Minneapolis,St Paul

it makes me cool and powerfull

  • Anybody heard David Allan Coe's studio version of his 1977 album Texas Moon? THAT is a moving version.

  • Jackson's voice and style gives this song a depth of meaning that Nico's never could in a million years.

  • jacksone browne rocks my socks.

  • wish i grew up in his era..

  • @dmbfreak19 sometimes i do too. sucks to be born into a generation thats going to see the end of the world. maybe...

  • @dmbfreak19 No you don't....it was nice but if you did you would be old like me

I am 56 years old...saw him live in 1973 1975 1995 and loved each show greatly.

But you have your whole life ahead of you enjoy it while your young...you can still

see him and listen to him...it's always nice to see someone young enjoy JB...

one of the greats. Oh those lyrics...check out For A Dancer...Fountain of Sorrow.

    Peace

  • @OppPaul Fountain of Sorrow is one of my all time favorites by Jackson Browne! I too am "old" and know what you are talking about lol =}

  • Ahhhhhh!! Simple and beautiful :)

  • i love the sound of this slide guitar

  • i love this slide guitar

  • Jackson Browne is a legend. I just love this song. It's helped me in times of need.

  • I love the film "Invincible" for many reasons. One of them is that it brought me here.

  • @Mrwilwak Charming comment and oh so true. We should respect peoples feelings, no matter what age they are.

  • Great song for all !

  • This is for my dear love and Wife Tracy Lynn Nash, May you Rest in Peace My dear sweet angel 3/30/70-7/17/07

  • @solidezio777 LOL, what?

  • Song of my life.

  • oooh one lonely troll found this

  • New Years Eve, '73 going into '74. Great memories.

  • He stole My heart back in 1972' and continues to do so.

  • I love jackson browne's version, and nico's. It's not about which version is better, they're both great.

  • what a great song.

  • If you're here because of "Men Of A Certain Age" give me a thumbs up!

  • gone are the days when you carried an album in its sleeve around..to school ,college,uni,work..those days people knew where you were at back then..we missed the romantic poets, but we had in these days the best songwriters..woo hoo..glad i was just old enough to catch them..

  • Great song. Paul Westerberg also did a fantastic cover of this a few years back.

  • Fantastic song, fantastic voice, and great production! Would be 10 times better with a slide show! Just an opinion. Thank you very much for Sharing!

What a way of meeting people and get to see their talent. At first was reluctant being on youtube, but getting to do this has brought me into the houses of some very special people. You are one of them. Life; isn't it wonderful!

Keep up the good work. Hope You Are Having A Splendid Day!

    A New Friend

    Erick

  • these days i sit on corner stones and count the time in quarter tones to 10, my friend

  • Aw, shucks folks.....I am overly sentimental. But, I used to sing this with my college friends back in the '70's. The sad part is, I had almost forgot this song. How awful.

If I only knew where my old buddies were now, I would take us back in time and relive those wonderful days.....those days............these days. Yup, these days I do sit and think a lot of all the things I forgot to do.....And to think JB was 16 years old when he wrote this!

  • @laurelfr1 - get on facebook, you'll find a lot of those old friends. we need more overly-sentimental people like yourself to balance out those with utter lack of sentiment and compassion.

  • This is a song that I think everyone can relate to. There are things we always wish we would have done, and there are times where are failures haunt us. Jackson Browne is a great singer and song writer, because he is able to express feelings that all can relate to even if they aren't the same experience.

  • @bilbosilbo

How can you say that?! Without this man, there is no Nico singing 'these days'

  • @photekkk

Doesn't matter. Still doesn't change the fact it's not nearly as good as Nico's version. Good on Browne for writing it, but Nico's totally different interpretation made it a completely different song and for the better.

  • @GiveMeFuckingBreak Don´t get me wrong, I prefer Nico´s version more, but interpretation is something relative. Andy Warhol en Tony Wilson did change the arrangement, Nico sang it with her monotome voice. But the lyrics, the fundament of the song, started at Browne

  • @photekkk just listen to Nico's version for the sake of curiousity, well , there is one thing missing there.......................Lindley.!

  • @GiveMeFuckingBreak You have GOT to be joking.

  • @bilbosilbo Agreed.

  • @bilbosilbo , LOL, Yeah, especially the German Monotone, not to mention that there is no David Lindley in the slide guitar..!.....Strange taste man..!

  • Heard this in concert lastnight:D

  • Just like.. Paul McCartney who wrote" When I'm Sixty-Four", when he was 16.

  • Man Bob Dylan should cover this song...

  • Can you believe he wrote this when he was 16? Just an unbelievable song-writer.

  • @Lemsley12 At just 16? Few artists can write pieces of music as remarkable as this at an early age!

  • Wonderful. Thanks for uploading!

  • Beautiful song... Amazingly I only heard it for the first time about a year ago! I remember the slide guitar playing really grabbed me too...

  • Written by a 16 years old boy... and meaning a lot to us, big boys, and more than 40 years later... Seems it is worth something. To me, the value of the title is in its ambiguity : these days, does it means now, or in some nostalgic age ? Both ? Mystery, beauty of the unresolved questions.

  • This version sounds rooted in the Americana context whereas Nico's version on Chelsea Girls (1967) draws on European music.

  • love this song thank you for uploading it .

  • this is the real stuff and it brings a tear every time

  • These days I seem to think a lot about the things that I forgot to do....

    for you

And all the times I had the chance to.

Who amongst us can't relate to that?

  • goosebumps every time

  • @lunalaska Absolutely!

  • i put this song as one of my favorite songs of all time

  • I'm glad to have found this, the original studio version. David Lindley's slide guitar work on this is some of the most beautiful, soulful, heart-rending work I've ever heard - especially on the outro. Thanks for posting.

  • David Allan Coe also has a very soulful cover of this on the "Texas Moon" album; there are a couple of live versions on y/t, but sound quality is awful.

  • This sounds nothing like the live versions ive heard on youtube, is this an older version? Its pretty damn good anyway!!

  • @Slugger1988 This is the original album version from the excellent album For Everyman, circa 1974.

  • I like this song. Nico's version was also good. Its a different song with the same lyrics, ya know? Im not belittling this version. It is superior!

  • YESSSSSSSSSSS <3

  • this song is sooooooo good

  • Wow, so good, fuck Nico, this is the way the song should be remembered

  • @mrpicky510 ...............Absolutely right, Nico my ass.!, and then , there's some people prefering Nico's version.Funny.....
