Most of the country isn't intelligent enough to understand the complex web of trouble we are in. I'm not either, don't claim to be an expert. And don't mean what i said to say everybody is stupid. It's just complicated. But in my opinion, I think the only way out is to raise taxes, cut spending, and raise interest rates. The govt can't make any money but they keep borrowing. @RJWooller We need to let the economy restructure itself. If we follow through with Paul's plans, we will face an extreme recession in the short term, but in the long term our economy would thrive. If we don't follow his plan, our economy will continue to slowly deteriorate, until the roof blows up and we're in an all out historic depression.

The majority don't like Ron Paul because he tells the truth and they can't accept it because it hurts too much. But one day the lies will hurt 10 times more if not more. This is an example of humans trying to push away pain only to create a bigger bomb. We stave off pain for a temporary amount of time but the price is a bigger bomb, this is what I call "borrowing time" time is like a lone shark, eventually there will be no more time to borrow and the much bigger bomb will have to go off.

It's just complicated. But in my opinion, I think the only way out is to raise taxes, cut spending, and raise interest rates. The govt can't make any money but they keep borrowing. Free trade is when you can privately make a transaction between yourself & a second party--be it gold, silver, copper, lead, food, booz, tobacco, property, etc... without intrusive gov. If they had a 10% income tax deduction from employment checks, I would be okay with that as long as commodities were at an affordable market price. Ron Paul is the only common sense candidate.

If people don't think like us or give us what we want when we want whether we pay for the resources or not we make sure they suffer either economically or physically through war and manipulations of their local markets. I think that qualifies as an empire especially when everyone is too scared to attack your military full on because of its strength.

Some major country leaders (France-China-Russia-etc) have held a meeting where they discussed no longer recognizing the starting price of anything under what was the norm, the U.S. dollar. The U.S. dollar stood as the "world reserve". This is now dropping off big time! Some places in Mexico will no longer accept U.S. currency! This is why precious metals are still rising and will continue.

Why am I concerned with the purchasing power of the dollar? are you even serious? Because as the purchasing power decreases things with more relatively inelastic demand (Oil, electricity, etc) go up in price. While currenct in circulation has not grown substantially it is because banks are still sitting on the money and will eventually lend it out.

We have devalued our currency by 98% since the Federal Reserve was created and by 85% since 71. In 1971 we were removed from the modified gold standard.
We have an over extended military.
We have rampant corruption from government.
Our government has been irresponsible.
We are DOOMED! Government is the problem.

@bkdmd I agree. The Goverment has become too massive. It needs to be made smaller. Also the military should be brought home from all bases and all foreign aid should be either cut or gotten rid of entirely. I find it odd we are struggling ourselves yet we throw billions at israel, Africa, the Middle East and other third world countries. It needs to stop. Now this stuff in egypt could threaten the oil and bring about more wars.

People can't handle hearing the fact the government isn't on your side.
They have devalued our currency by 98% since 1913 and by 85% since 1971. Look at the CPI calculator on the BLS.gov website.
THey are constantly changing the way they figure inflation so they can pay lower benefits to SS recipients. If they figured it the way they did when Carter was Pres. the benefits would be paying 710% more.

The traitor Ron Paul is up there spouting Marxist propaganda again about our "empire".
We have no empire, traitor. The Soviet Union had an empire of tens of millions outside Russia that they forced their will on. Britain, Spain etc; had empires of other nations they controlled. We do not have other nations that we control. We didn't add Iraq or Afghanistan as new colonies. Our "empire" consists of a couple tiny islands like Guam and the main homeland.
