  • yea this works

  • i feel like the woman who recorded this was high on amphetamines

  • Your handling of the knife really scares me ._________.

you should be more careful with knives lol

  • @wishingstars163

omg i know , i though for sure her thumb was coming off. lol

  • I do it a little bit differently

when those flies are trapped in the bottle, I just bring the bottle to toilet, open the tab and pour water into the bottle so the flies will drawn to death, then rip the tape off and drop the banana-fruit flies-water into toilet bowl and flush them off

  • shes in the kitchen

  • i'm catching them to give to my praying mantis! mhaw ha ha!:]

  • would they not just fly out through the bottle opening?

  • Brilliant! xD

  • bottle without th crazy side that have a flat surface works better as does using packaging tape. I have mine where it can be seen by those that come over and frankly tacky isn't an option. Nice and sleek and pretty much no one is the wiser.

  • Why are they so stupid...cause i open my windows cause i have plants in my house and alot were born so they dont go out in the window...so they wont comeout of the botol right?

  • Great video, I used it a couple years back, worked great, now I'm back to show my uncle who has this problem XD. Thank you!

  • splendid

  • Or if you dont have sticky tape, get a sqaure of cling film, fold it into a ruler shape, rap it round the bottle, put it under heat for one second each side! done :D

  • Awesome idea! I'm off to make my water bottle fruit fly trap. Thanks!

  • ive made 94

  • @slayerplayer79 this trap design works for most flying insects, you just have to change up the bait and the size of the entrance to match the fly. First time I saw the design was a larger container with a slightly larger entrance and apple juice inside... It was for trapping wasps.

  • Thanks for the tip! I made one with banana peels, and one with vinegar. Both worked perfectly!

  • Will they breed in the cup? How long do you recommend us to let the cup stay for?

  • thanks for the good vid!!!!not i can catch little bugs for my pet mantis!!

  • this is way too complicated.

just put banana peels in a plastic bag, tie it up, punch few holes on it with toothpick, and it will do the same thing.

  • @soyothedanny good idea! you should make a video =)

  • @achampag so you dont put anything over the whole in the bottle where the lid would be? you just leave it open?

  • @soyothedanny Way too complicated??? Seems preety simple to me and a lot less white trash!

  • @soyothedanny

    Way too complicated ??

Maybe it's a good thing this was a video.

I could imagine what you would think if you had to do a bunch of READING !

    Ooooo ! :-o

  • @soyothedanny I tried it and the flies flew out the hole.I took an old compression valve from a radiator out my 04 chevy & modified the apparatus to fit the soda pop lid.Next, i incorporated a oneway reflex valve stem so as to manifest a vacuum inside the bottle. This is where it got a bit tricky. How to power the the appliance with out making holes for power cables and such while minimizing the post deployment..So, i used a 3V solar array panel mounted in the bottle and now it's self sustaining!

  • @soyothedanny Way too complicated? Are you physically or mentally challenged?!!

  • @soyothedanny - too complicated, please. I liked it.

  • @soyothedanny ...Too complicated? Really? You must be pretty dumb.

  • thy

  • i`ve had great results using a "simply orange" plastic juice bottle.I just fill it with produce scraps like lettuce, banana peelings, pieces of tomato, etc.that i would normally throw away, leave it out for several hours or overnight where the flies accumulate inside the bottle, not just around the mouth. Then just sneak up on em,put the lid on quickly and then stick the bottle in the freezer for an hour to kill the flies.Take the bottle out, thaw it,then repeat the process for a few days

  • THANK U

  • I only had a small bottle to use. I also only had some orange peels. I also have a sticky soda fountain machine that is attracting them. I cleaned it up as best I could, but the little buggers ain't going for the peel action. :( But thank you for this video. I will try again, only next time, I'll follow your directions. :D

  • @xohmyheadx try bleaching it all down...or vinegar

  • @xohmyheadx Make sure that the banana peels used are from truly ripe speckled bananas.

  • I thought bananas have fruit fly eggs on them?

    e.o

  • is that one of those ginshu knives?

  • fiji bottle.....FIJI IN A BOTTLE! ALRIGHT!

  • It's like the old saying goes: "Time flies like an arrow..... fruit flies like a banana..."

    :)

  • Excellent video. Thanks for sharing! I am going to make one today.

  • Now I have a free meat for my NEON TETRAS!!! MU HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

  • haha OMG..... (i really like to use a fiji bottle but evian will work) lol a water bottle is a water bottle

  • This is basically a fish trap too.

  • thank you i'll really need this for my baby frogs. Thanks heaps ! :]

  • It's the same thing as a mouse pit trap, except the food's on the bottom.

  • question

how can they not get out?

are they to dumb to find out?

or is it just made like that and you don't know how?

  • BAHAHAHAHAH @ 1:43

  • Many thanks for the video, sorted out my problem with the flies well quick

    Merry Christmas!!

  • a nigger neighbor had fruit flies in his kitchen real bad,but i told him about this and it worked real well

  • @IwontConform I'm guessing the reason you used that word is because your looking for attention, so let me give you some. Youre a vile piece of SHIT not worth the energy to educate. I'm betting you spend most of your time alone in a room fiddling yourself because no one will come near you. I bet your family hate you and wish that you were aborted at birth. I know your house is probably teeming with roaches, flies, rats because their attracted to shit like you.

  • i made 2 of these and it wiped out my entire collection of fruit flys i suggest using beer they sink to the bottom and get right fucked up

  • Great video! Very intuitive! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Nice stuff. Dumbass fruit flies....just go back thru where u came from. !

  • Clever!

  • can't the fruit flies just fly out??

  • My fruit fliess are too smart. They just fly out. :)

  • I dont understand, why don't they fly out the bottle top? Are they just to stupid and stay by the fruit?

  • better idea, eat a curry or beans and do alot of farting

seriously though clean the place, then wait 10 days they go away after 10 days either way

  • better idea, eat a curry or beans and do alot of farting

  • man you tube sucks always so blasted slow video plays for about a sec. and stops then gos again or just stops all together.

  • so the flies wont fly out? im just wondering. they seem to get stuck? whys that??

  • @samspumpkin They're horrible navigators. They'll land in the funnel and walk down, but can't find their way back up and out.

  • thanks, ill have a response in a bit!

  • @harjinder14

I don't know what you want to respond to, but that sure is a Sarah Palin answer if I've ever heard one! (..and I'll get back to ya!)

  • achampag , At first, I thought that because the opening was much bigger than the fruit flies, they would easily escape. I was wrong. Some of them escape, but most of them seem to be happy to hang out there. They come in and can't seem to find their way out. When they try, a lot of them get stuck in between the wedges of the upside down "lid".

I used pretty much any fruit: pineapple and peach. I added some water and a lot of them end up drowning in it for some reason.

    Thanks so much!

  • this type of trap also works fine on catching small fish that is fx trapped behind aquarium backgrounds, just don use the banana peel, solid fishfood(catfish waffers)works much better..

  • works but i just use raid, i had a huge problem my downstairs kitchen, someone left an old mc donalds cup and there was atleast 40 in there.. I just grabbed the raid and sprayed the shit out of the room. Problem solved. =)

  • works well

  • @slayerplayer79 i have never used this for or caught anything other than fruit flies. but i would bet good money that somewhere on the net are directions on how to make a trap for horseflies....poor dog!

  • Thanks girly!!! I've done different traps over the years. I also like to use the glue traps for rats/mice. I drop some stinky stuff on it and they get stuck on it. My biggest problem is my compost bucket, I finally stuck it outside the back door and I take my compost waste out there to dump it.

  • Awesome vid. Stupid religious folks spamming you with thumbs down. That sure sounds like what god would want in a good behaving human being

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you, it works , I have so far collected 2 containers full of Fruit flies. Tips and alterations: Use masking tape and when finished taping run the masking tap back around and then this time with the sticky side up and tape off verticaly with sticky side down. Also the flies tended to stay on the bottle as a aspose to go in which ment if I moved the bottle they would fly away, soluction is to take a shopping bag and place it over the bottle and seal fast, then dispose of.

  • thanx soooooo much!!! finally i have a weapon against these bastards muahahaah its time to die

  • just use vinegar instead, it lasts longer

  • Thank You

  • In Australia we have some thing called 'Wild May' and its devastating on FF. I think its a mild solution of ammonia, hardly smells at all and I got about 12 first day, unfortunately i was late in the season and I never got to try it the next year. Available on line.

  • nice...i tried and it works. thanks much. simple, no cost. thumbs up.

  • u sound like the mom from "the incredibles"0.o

  • It works!! Thanks for the vid. This helped alot!

  • You're a genius! Thanks for the idea.

I'm going to do this from now on. I'm also going to try the 2L wasp version.

    I like your nailpolish.

  • Wtf is with all the thumbs down? I thought this was very clever and helpful. Must be the Fruit Fly Benevolent Assoc getting all fired up.

  • @rhythm7a i got vote-botted for being an atheist...all my older vids got hit...whatcha gonna do? w/e

  • @achampag Ahh, those loving and tolerant God people. God, save me from your followers.

It's an excellent video never the less.

  • @achampag haters gonna hate.

  • @achampag That is so stupid that people acually care if you believe in that stuff or not. All you people who care, you can just think about that.

  • @achampag Ah, I love the religious nuts and their 'love thy neighbor' philosophy!!

  • @rhythm7a hahahah

  • lolz! stupid fruit flies!

  • "Crack to frutflies.."

    LOL ...LMAO !!!

..What about just wine and soap in a bowl ?

    Or Vinegar ?

  • thanks it worked really good!

  • This may be the coolest damn thing on youtube, ever! Bam, I'm makin' one right now. Yeah!!!

  • WOW ! you relay know how to handle a knife i almost thinke you are a killer ;P

  • @sifeuni Yeah the Tarana Puhleez better not see this video or she might get a full-page write-up in the newspaper about threatening animals with a knife prior to the gee tweny.

  • Look guys, all you need is a very hungry lizzard and your problems will be solved..

  • wait, so if it can go in, that same as they can go out! so we just need them in and what if the fly out of the bottles ( i'm sucks at English)?

  • same as a fish trap

  • Where should I leave the trap? And will I get some at this time of year?

I need them from my Praying Mantids as food! ta(:

  • @ReccuringNightmare the kitchen sink is a good place. or right next to the trash can.

  • @ReccuringNightmare

Uhm... leave it close to where the fruit flies are.

  • Why would any one want fruit flies? unless you want to exterminate them... set em on fire!!!

  • g00dboy they are too stupid to go out the hole lol, the soap holds them in place and freezing theyre small bodies kills them fast, and shaolin u idiot, nothing creates fruit flies, fruit flies are attracted to ur nasty ass food, so when u got a problem do this and they will all die (u can use this method with wasps and bees, use pop and soap and stead of fruit and soap and use a 2L bottle of pop

  • LOOOL!

ShaolinUfo, you should go back to school man... That's pretty sad.

  • Dear achampag: Thank you for the clear and concise instructions.

  • i saw the title and was like "watshe dooin?"

  • The bananas are like crack - wash the crack before you put it in the bottle, LADY. Hahaha hmmm fun

  • Don't forget to throw it out.... Those small ass -jacks breed like ... They say beer and wine will become vinegar if it is subjected to air and time.

  • Add a table spoon of dish soap under the banana, and it will 'trap' them in that too. We use apple cider vinegar and dish soap. The Vinegar attracts them, the dish soap keeps them.

  • Actually as i was watching this.. a fruit-fly Landed on my pc screen.. so this trap should be good.

(well they always do that at night time)

  • lmfao bananas plus air with bacterias creates fruit flies lmao! u're making it not trapping it nob!

  • i use my hands lol

  • how do they stay in the bottle?

  • Me. well i use the vacuum cleaner and vacuum the flys up. I have used this method on the worst indoor infestations and i have never lft a fly behind.

  • Waaaaaaaay too much work!!

Put about 1" of cider vinegar in a glass. Add a few drops of liquid dish detergent or automatic DW rinse agent. Leave in infested area overnight and most of the flies will be drowned in the AM.

The trap shown or this simpler approach only works if you clean up first - put all food away, take out all garbage, wash and dry all dishes, wipe off all counters.

  • So this is how I'll feed my spider.

  • i just wanna catch them to feed my betta

  • lmao i like how u said "da bannana peel...its da crack 2 da fruit flies" haha funny

  • @RoshonFeganLuv3r The banana peel - The crack. Learn how to speak and write English

  • @kenithj76 I know how to speak and TYPE english, so chill. U still know what im sayin so u have no right to complain. -___-

  • very good

  • thank you so much i have fruit flies for a week now and i had no clue how to kill them so i just smacked them but this really works thank you

  • it doesnt matter if you get it on the sides and vinager works the best for fruit flys that fucking love vinegar but thats if you have fruit flys

  • I don't get fruit flies- must not be a desert region nuisance, but I watched for the novelty of you being martha-stewart-y.

  • Thank you, those fruit flies are annoying as hell!

  • thanks!

  • Thank you !

  • Genius!

  • man there really small

  • great idea ......but a 3 min video to show how to cut a bottle in half? ...damn that was wordy!

  • Good job, girl!

  • me and my big brother tride it. it works

  • BANANAHAMOCK! xD

  • banana flys

  • use duck tape and put it sticky side out on the top of the bottle so they cant crawl out. Works

  • kool ill have to try that

  • woa you washed your hands for once

  • this is the 1st invention of Einstein, good work btw

  • u can use a bowl and melted candel wax and wine they love the smell and drown in it.

  • hahaha lol

  • thats a goddamn minnow trap lol

  • at 0.50 i paused and tried to guess what ya would do with these bits on your side. I was so wrong, cool, actually no its perfect, We get those wee gits in the summer too but obviously can put what bait you wish at the bottom to attract which ever wee bugs are annoying and the BIG BONUS is its free and no chemicals Thank you so so much. I like evian french spring water but prefer Scottish highland spring water or just plain Jane filtered tap water, gotta go Thanks again

  • ya or you could just leave some jelly/jam on a plate

  • ok but they can easily just slip bak up that water bottle whole !!!

  • CRACK BANANA

  • Haha ! thanks alot! im working with fruit flies in one of my experiments, this will help greatly!

  • A little bit of water in the base of this trap works wonders.

  • Awesome, Thanks for the tip.

  • Excellent! Patent worthy.

  • this should be brilliant for catching food for my ghost and flower mantis nymphs im ordering

  • I hate fruit flies there USELESS all they do is fly around on you stuff and they only leave for 3 days

  • and sometimes they go up my nose!

  • lol, me too =)

  • lol and it feels very very wierd!XD

  • it makes me sneeze. lol

  • i think i have about a hundred up my nose. lol

  • eww, i made this trap and it caught 5 and then they all escaped. POOPIE!

  • ha ha i have a lot in my house

  • why cant they find theyre way out :s

  • Sorry i forgot to say, would it work with house flies?

  • sitten 'round watchin the flies crawl out of yer mamma's pusshy?

  • Could you put sugar in the bottle instead of fruit?

  • my fruit flies are smarter..they eat wat i eat and drink wat i drink. they even swim into my hot sauce and they're still alive. sometimes when i wake up in the morning, i see one fruit fly wondering around and few hours later, there like 50 fruit flies marching around in my kitchen waiting for somethn to eat.

  • oh and also one other thing! if you get some dental sterident tablets, put one in in shallow water and then put there shit in... this makes the flies so they cannot bread :D so you dont end up with loads in from the breading inside it :P

  • try a large starbucks cofee cup with a lid on they go through the hole you drink from and get stuck, i would do a video but you cant see the flies unless you open it.... also try peach rather than banana! it seems to have a better effect :D they love peach :P

  • cool vid i should try it

  • eeeeeaaaaaaaannnnnnndddddddddddddddddddddd

  • i wish i had fruit flies up north. so i could feed my mantids when they hatch for free.

  • i tried one of these and it worked but 12hours later they all transported from hell back to my house =p also my garbage bin outside has a fuking COLONY of fruit flies!!

does anyone know of a way to get rid of them from the garbage bin?

Ima have to call the exterminator guy o kill thses son of bitches!!!i think itc cuz my whole country is being ifested so its not only me but dam i hate the dam SCAVENGERS!!!

  • It's similar in England with the Asians.

  • dam i mean COUNTY* yea they said all the fruity flies came from south asia i think so dam i can imagine how much you guys have up there..theyve been dissapearing tho but man i really hate when they fly RIGHT infron of your face..

yea theyre all going away now but dam Asia!! there so clean so the fruit flies came to america lol alrighty man

  • heres the solution to ur problem...make MANY of these traps and put them around ur can.... OH AND! ur dumpster!lol

  • Fruit-fly crack.

    That was pretty funny.

  • handy tip :D

  • thanks. I am going to try this right now. nice nail polish by the way.

  • whatdo you look like

  • cool! we get these things all the time so this'll be so great. so easy too!

  • This works perfectly against "murder-snails", but instead of fruits and other stuff you use beer. =)
