  • This was a good sermon. It really had an effect. Thanks to the minister of science. NEXT!

  • God is love.

In this was manifested the love of God in us, because His Son -- the only begotten -- hath God sent to the world,

that we may live through Him. -1 John 4.

"For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord GOD. "Therefore, repent and live." -Ezekiel 18:32

  • "Say to them, 'As I live!' declares the Lord GOD, 'I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! - Ezekiel 33:11

i have struggled with the same questions, pray God makes you accept the truth and His way for salvation for us.

  • Death is going to happen to everybody, but if God doesn't take pleasure from the damnation of the wicked, then he could have created a system in which no one was ever damned. If anyone has horribly evil ways, it is because God created that person knowing how they would behave, and set up a system to punish them for behaving that way. It's very mixed up.

  • 1st: "This is God's universe and He does things His way. You may have a better way, but you don't have a universe."

  • These appear to be stories written by humans, probably with no influence or input from any gods or supernatural beings. There is no reason to assume they are true or even that their moral and philosophical claims are worth following. There are only traditions and personal feelings that make people wish they were true.

  • yes, without help from God we cannot believe the gospel & the rest of the Bible and they appear to us as not true and not too worthy, but we can ask God for help and He will give it to us! (Luke 11:9-10, James 1:5)

  • "evil men and impostors shall advance to the worse, leading astray and being led astray. And thou -- be remaining in the things which thou didst learn and wast entrusted with,

having known from whom thou didst learn, and because from a babe the Holy Writings thou hast known,

which are able to make thee wise -- to salvation, through faith that is in Christ Jesus

  • every Writing is God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright,

for instruction that is in righteousness, that the man of God may be fitted -- for every good work having been completed."

    -2.Timothy_3:13-17

  • sorry it took so long to reply to you, God bless you :-) He is good!

  • So God creates us with the potential for evil. He sacrificed his son so he wouldn't get mad at us for doing evil. And He'll save us from the punishment that we deserve, if we ask him for it. We deserve no pardon if our honest interpretation is that these messages are untrue or not actually sent from God.

Even if that were true, I would not use the word "good" about a God who designed damnation in that way.

  • "But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him" -Psalm 103:17

  • Well Rob, i watched some of your videos here on your attempt to "attack christianity. Well good sir, after deciphering through your incessant ramblings on what you call an argument, i believe it is clear to everyone that watches this is that you are ignorant of the Christian faith. Regardless if you agree with it or not, you are completely inaccurate with many of your lines of logic. maybe you should gear your videos toward more than just unintelligent atheist liberals. God bless you.

  • This would be the place where you could spell out why my arguments were inaccurate, instead of just asserting that they are inaccurate. Then we'd be having a debate or a discussion, instead of just getting me to reply to your insults with more insults.

  • i think life is a challenge to all that exist no-one gets an easy journey. so as to talk about the here after would be foolish of any of us. i dont think any of us is perfect and to be honest im not a real relgious person. .end of the day when we are taken we not need are physical bodies are shells are of no importance. but some part me says theres a god and i think theres a star out there for everyone that passed by planet earth.even the young that might not seen much time. 500 charactors 4321

  • If there was this magic ability to create remorse in people after they die...why not spend the magic after they were born so they wouldn't be evil in the first place.

  • Exactly, why create a universe where people have the "free will" to choose evil, unless you want evil in the universe? (Or unless you feel that humans having free will is more important than getting rid of evil, so it's somehow worth the trade-off. I don't see why it would be worth it.)

  • This is a very interesting topic - great series. (I had to go back to find #1 because it didn't show up in the sub vid list).

A few of your points made me think of that short Tolstoy story 'The Three Hermits'.

I wonder if the dogma we call Christianity has much to do with what the story of Jesus was about. Wasn't he the guy who the Bible said went into a temple/church only once - and it didn't go well.

Maybe human powers that be invented all that sin/hell/brimstone for social control.

  • Good point. Gandhi had that funny quote about "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

  • To my family we found great comfort in that Uncle John saw Uncle Frank before he passed. As a Christian I never condemn others and think if everyone loves each other we will all be fine.

  • We have Seders with Jewish. When I was in RCIA class discussing pergatory which to me is like a holding pen. I asked can someone like Jeffrey Daumer go to Heaven? The response was yes if he is truly sorry. As far as Heaven and afterlife: My dear Uncle John died last week. Last year his brother my Uncle Frank also died. They were neighbors for 50 years. As my Uncle John was dying his last words were "don't worry, Frank is here and he will take good care of me now".

  • My mother was brought up Episcopal and she passed on some of the anti-Catholic messages that Protestants talk about. One of them was that the idea of Purgatory isn't described explicitly in the Bible, that it's speculation inspired by the Bible. But the idea of Purgatory sounds a little more humane & forgiving than the claims of Fundamentalists and some other denominations.

Sorry to hear about your uncle passing.

  • Thanks Rob.

  • Rob I watched all the videos and found them quite interesting and thought provoking. Generally I steer clear of politics and religion, because I am a wimp lol. Just thought I would say if I were not a Catholic Christian your logic would make crystal clear sense. Many of your points even made me ponder. To me it is either you believe and accept or you don't. The Holy Trinity is a mystery. As a Catholic we love everyone and do not condemn other religions.

  • Hi Rob

I've never done well with churches. Typically they don't really care about the mentally ill. Do the right wing high net worth evangelicals really want to pay for the 46 million in the USA for healthcare? I've read many articles on church leaders and members not visiting mentally ill. My own difficulties is that church is a social minefield (social appropriateness is more important than message). I'm not saying all churches can be labelled negligent when caring for the mentally ill.
