Muslims "moors" occupied Spain for awhile [you can even see the influence in the language... the phrase "I hope that" is said 2 ways- Latin influence "Espero que" and Arabic influence "Ojala [oh-ha-lah] que]. You should look up Cordoba, Spain... mosque/cathedral.

As far as I know contrary to the Image of Islam and muslims, the arab muslims and others did not try to "spread Islam at the edge of Sword" in Spain. Had they done this, much blood would have been spilt with chances of the Christians claiming the Land back later on, very slim. I have read Spain was ruled for many 100 years

But I think that there is a difference between the Islam being practiced at the time and the Islam being practiced now [there is even a difference between Muslims right now in different areas...]. If you remember back to the crusades though- Muslims fighting & killing [Jews &] Christians [& the other way around too]- Arabs never viewed themselves as the victims until Europ. authors suggested as much.

But the Islam of the time was not the same [no religions were] the concept of religious tolerance [despite what anyone claims] was not accepted- it a quite modern concept. @ one time there WERE wars & bloodshed. . . regardless of occupation- there has also been hundreds of years of immigration, assimilation, trade, etc. A friend tells me Spanish is semi-commonly spoken in Israel & other places in the Middle East

The Asian man could have been Pakistani or Indian and the black man was dressed as a African witch splits him apart from the rest of the black population. The white caucasian could have been from anywere. Europe, North America, South Africa and Eurasia so the flag was shown so the viewer knew who she was translating.
