"This is how Song of Storms would sound if the Gerudo people played it." I would've thought they were more aribic or at the very least middle eastern esc. the vidio was good though !!
The Gerudo's culture has strong parallels with Arabic culture. The music that plays in the Gerudo region (in Ocarina of Time) is very Spanish sounding, in Twilight Princess it has an Arabic feel.
@PredatorFilmsInc Thing is, during the age of the Greek Empire, Spain was part of the Muslim Empire. One of the relics from that empire is algebra. Now as for complaining that they're using an Indian instrument.
They're playing the Song of Storms, you entire complaint is moot.
@69Kambash64 : Read the video description "This is how Song of Storms would sound if the Gerudo people played it.", music in the Gerudo region has either been Spanish or Arabic style, the Sitar is Indian.
@PredatorFilmsInc What you fail to notice is that Indian culture shares many parallels with Judeo-Islamic cultures because they both had influences in the same things. So they were right in saying Gerudo.
they are truly beautiful instruments. such craftmenship it looks amazing. I play a lot of instruments, but hats off to you guys. Spot on by the way, sounded like it could have been some gerudo travelers sitting around a camp or something
I know next to nothing about sitars, but as a Zelda fan and a player of more traditional instruments, I enjoyed the video! Ignore the people posting complaints or ignorance
I think it's just amazing that this song could be played on a sitar. Personally, I thought it sounded really good and I give these people props for doing a really good job playing a song not really meant for the instruments they played it on.
Ummm I think that person is tone deaf because they are playing all the right notes.. It sounds different because... you know... instruments don't all sound the same....
Good job ! That looks like a hard instrument to play. And fuck all the haters on here, tell them to upload a better video of sitar playing if they're mad.
@AirplaneFoods Life's better with discerning tastes. I'm alive for a limited amount of time, and I can assure you that these 39 seconds, a mere .00000164890918% of the male life expectancy in the US, is not worth my time. Good day.
@Axel5550 hhhhmmmmmm nope, this is america and i go where i please on this super internet. its a crappy remix and the fact that an instrument fails does not say anything about whether or not its an actual real instrument. it just means that that "real" instrument sucks and sounds like shit. and funny thing you mentioned dubstep...............i knew i heard that sound the sitar was making somewheres else. egads! thanks i forgot that a sitar is indian dubstep thanks for the reminder
@afrodamus Nah. This is just Youtube. The instrument works how it should and therefore cannot "fail" unless used inappropriately. I brought the term "actual instruments" in because you used the word remix, which is a term used with things such as techno, dubstep or any music made with digital instruments while the sitar is a traditional instrument that would make this a cover of the song.
Thank you for letting me know I can't be silly with my comments with you. And that you missed my point.
@Axel5550 nope, an instrument can still fail if it did not achieve its task, while that task may be to simply "play the song" yeah it did that but lets be honest if all we wanted was music and not good music we would be happy with dubstep remixes of johnny cash songs. the instrument failed at its real task which was playing the song well. and i wouldnt say "silly" for your comments but unclear like you said. but touche on the youtube comment you got me there
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@AirplaneFoods you are PATHETIC. There are almost absolutely NO instruments that started from northwestern culture alone. India and other Eastern countries did more to our music than you will ever comprehend.
@futurfry o_o i absolutely love eastern instruments/music, and i never said anything otherwise. i don't know how to play the sitar at all, this was my first and only time touching one, but i did spend a few years learning korean instruments, fun stuff.
@Tabspooh They're using western harmony... you think Japan isn't modern? How insulting of you. They're been writing based off of Pythagoras' scale and its accidentals, through a tempered system, and into chromatic harmony.
@b4nt2k okay, it's you oppinion, but don't be so nasty! this guys made their own interpratation and if you don't like it, express it more politely (sry for the bad english, but I was sad, when i've read your comment).
@b4nt2k You know Zelda was created in JAPAN. *cough cough eastern country cough* get the fuck over yourself and stop making America look so fucking awful
@b4nt2k Fuck you. Really, why do you have to be such an asshole? Why are people on youtube such assholes?! I want an explanation! Good god, jack ass, you must be the most racist bastard ever, besides hitler! Besides, western harmony? Last I checked, zelda was originally made IN JAPAN, in the EAST, unless I'm seriously missing something here, and by western harmony you mean something else. I'll be surprised as hell if you ever get someone to go out with you, never mind getting laid!
@b4nt2k The song originated in Japan, which isn't exactly "western" and closer to where the sitar originated from then from where the guitar did, stop being ignorant, I'll admit I didn't care for it either but sitars are more then capable of making good music.
You're an idiot. They're using the 12 tone chromatic system, which originated from Pythagorus' lyre (in the Ionian Mode, or 'major scale'). This happened in Europe. Classical music emerged. World is globalized. Everyone pretty much uses it unless playing some niche cultural/traditionals. The song was written by a Japanese guy, a guy living in modern times. The song uses Western Harmony. Rooted to Pythagorus.
@b4nt2k And the reason the sitars aren't playing the proper notes is.......? O wait they are. So your point really means nothing if your talking about how the music is played because they are hitting the right notes.
I can so see the Gerudo ladies playing this, while other Gerudo's are dancing around a fire, to call the rains and give them water.......what don't diss me on my imagination
