@La77a I recall the late 70s well - many white skins would say The Specials Plus Two - the two referred to the 2 blacks whom they felt were not really part of the band as they were black. My point was a bit different though as I think in the late 60s some white skins were okay with blacks to an extent as they were ripping off their style but these white skins were still racist going round beating up asians and the odd black. That was part of the working class uniform. Lots of the style was directly taken from the Jamaican style which was emulating American Soul style. The Special AKA, well saw them before they hit the big time with Gangsters, saw them at the Moonlight Club in May 1979, i'm even in the mag that came with the Dance Craze album, Pauline Black, met her a few times too, outstanding woman, hahahahahha, i had to re fit her office carpet when she did Black On Black for London Weekend Television, some of the best days of my life.
