I was always blown away by the art design of MUSHA Aleste..

Why the enemies always had this old Japanese theme for their designs..

The faces on their plated armors..

Moo Nitani made an excellent game with this. I hate shooting game but this so far is the only game I have made an exception. Wish it was compiled in a sega classic. The music for the most part is catchy and adrenaline rush...brings back nostalgic childhood memories.

The Genesis may have had a technologically "inferior" soundcard to the NES, but that doesn't mean that there aren't a ton of rocking tunes in Genesis games. Thunder Force III, Rocket Knight Adventures, and of course MUSHA all had epic soundtracks. I'm sure there are plenty more that I've forgotten about. Those are just three prime examples.

To the "NES"? I think you missed an S in there somewhere :P.

And yes, although it's superior from a technological standpoint to the YM2612, it has a hard time with electronic music (think SOR 2) and rocking soundtracks like this (they pack much less punch).

For an example, compare the MMX 3 intro to the "genesis" cover made by geckoyamori. The genesis version is much better.

@ShadeCS Yes I did. My mistake. I meant to say SNES. And the SNES soundchip is much better for orchestral-type pieces, in which a specific musical instrument is synthesized, but the Genesis is good for electronic music. And I'll check that video out.

I was *just* about to remark that this OST sounds strongly like something out of Devil's Crush. I'm glad to know that its the same guy and my ears are still working. His style is very distinct. Awesome stuff! ^_^

This has got to be one my favorite soundtracks for any game on the genesis.
