I could die right now listening to this masterpiece and I would be happy about it... Truly Wonderful music. Im only 15 and am so sad that my generation missed out on beauty like this.
I grew up listening to them; my grandma adored them (second only to a piano soloist). "Exodus" and "Midnight Cowboy" are my favorites. I heard this piece by many artists on LPs and on the radio.
So glad to find this site. I fell in love with this duo when I started teaching. I just retired from 50 years of teaching piano/organ and still performing. Much of my improv inspiration came from Ferrante & Teicher. I have played everything from national horse shows to the NYC Rockettes - they just kick a little higher. (: ALBERTI
@joeylikeslots Very sorry to hear that your Dad died at such a young age. Thank you for sharing your memories (even though they are very sad). It is often hard to understand why things happen as they do. The most we can do at such sad times is to support each other...let each other know we share the sorrow. I wish your mother would have known you were with her those nights that she sat, crying in the rocking chair. You could have comforted each other, sharing memories of your Dad.
Don't they play this beautifully together? I just love it... every falling leaf! "Autumn Leaves" was also played by another famous pianist... I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was Roger Williams. It's just such a lovely piece of music. Thanks for sharing it with us.
@SkyMar463 Both Ferrante and Teicher have passed away but I read recently they were friends to the end... they would meet for lunch, etc. as long as their health permitted.
Thank you for your nice comment. The other pianist was Roger Williams. It was a lovely piece of music and we were fortunate to have such gifted musicians to make 'music history' for us. :)
i heard this first when i was a little kid and LOVED it. i am an alternative rock musician/singer/songwriter and this composition has influenced my appreciation for music. if u want to c autumn leaves come up to the blue ridge mountains. i grew up n the foothills
i heard this first when i was a little kid and LOVED it. i am an alternative rock musician/singer/songwriter and this composition has influenced my appreciation for music
@Maureen712 Wrong, the song is from the movie titled, oddly enough, "Autumn Leaves," starring Joan Crawford and Cliff Robertson. It's about an older woman who falls in love with a younger man who has some mental problems caused by his father played by Lorne Greene. I'm pretty sure it came out in the late fifties or early sixties.
Lovely pictures Maureen! Autumn is my favorite time of the year and the weather has been so gorgeous here in PA. Nice song too. I have the version by Roger Miller.
who on earth orchestrated that, please if you have the orchestra name or leader orknow who arranged it , would love more music like that in my files, just amazing and very unusual for its outstanding compositiojn, all we needed was a breeze.and the video was a stunner, into my you tube greatest playlist, and favs.like 68 but it has not changed yet hopefully it will after posting
Truly a masterpiece, the paino itself tied in with the orchestra is outstanding, The music tends to speak for itself....leaves falling beacause of a big wind or fluttering in the gentle breeze falling one by one, however they fall is up to your imagination. Instrumentals were big back in the doowop era of R&R but very few found it to the sock hop that was held in the school gym and this wasn't one of them. The Limbo Rock by The Champs was played big time at the sockhop! THX4 postin' lol
I love radio. It's so ... personal. There's one person there, LIVE, talking to you. Of course, my husband did work for NPR affiliates for 20 years; so I suppose that gives me some bias!
@jazzbuff630 I guess we have to depend on YouTube for music like this these days. I was never fond of listening to the radio. I prefer listening to tapes of music I've selected (and NO COMMERCIALS).
@jazzbuff630 I agree with you on that one! All of the radio stations are being bought out by these hip hop people and all they ever play any more is crappy music of todays world! Where I live there is only one Classic Radio Station that plays Glenn Miller and Ferrante & Teicher and all the good ones thats it!
I remember as a young teen playing in the concert band in H.S and playing in a rock band at home.. after having a hard time with my father, I ran from home to a friends cabin in upper Mich. His parents had F/T vinyls. Those "albums" changed my perspective on what real music was to supposed to sound like. I went home with some new found friends-F/T. Thank you, rev.jon
Maureen: I had another version of your video on my favorites list, and noticed it was gone because of some violation. Could you explain. I noticed that some scenes were gone from the latest version. I still love your videos. You must have had a happy childhood. Am I correct? Thanks for posting this one.
its on last fm and -aol music. its there 1970s movies theme songs. i think you would like the cd.i think on amazon too great 1970s motion picture themes.
This is beautiful Maureen. Alice and I spent the last week in Oct In the Poconos, hoping to see these Autumn Leaves, but most were already down..but we did see many Deer..
Ferrante and Teicher i have always enjoy and thsi was a song i tried to sing to many years ago, but this is for listening, this arrangement is good for singing, not for me.....lovely photo's.
I grew to love their music very much. They were my Mom's absolute favourite and she would play their albums all weekend long! I have not heard them in a long while and you have just made my day:)

Well ... we have no autumn where we live now -- always summer -- but I do remember those apple-pickin' days of years ago somewhere else.
