Bessonova's routine was actually lighter and smoother. Her piroutes were much more flawless. What's unique about Kanaeva's routine is that she arches and contracts her body, not in the ballerina way, but in a more sensual way as if in simulation of the movements of the ribbon. Extraordinary.

why do rhythmic gymnasts all hav such slender legs (though there are muscles at the calf area)?

i thought their legs inc. the thighs would look really muscular, bt they're slender

The muscles are "longer" because these girls stretch A LOT!!!So the muscles become elongated, as opposed to bulky, like the muscles in the body of an artistic gymnast, smaller and more stocky. I adore this routine; it epitomises what RG should be; so classy.

I don't know alot about rythymic(sp?) she was gorgeous, just just the movement of the ribbon itsself was beautiful, and I had never seen that in all the ribbon routines I watched.
