Rodeo events are merely demonstrations of the skills real cowboys perform on a daily basis. Calf roping and steer roping are necessary in order to care for the animals. Give them vaccines, deworming, attaching ear tags, etc. I've been to many rodeos, have no clue what the deal is with pulling horses with a team. Never seen it.
You've cherry picked extreme and rare situations. Remember rodeo animals are only perform 2 or 3 times daily. They are smart and know the 'routine or act'.
I don't know what rodeo allows for the calf to be roped by the neck, cattle are very expensive and if you kill a calf, then you're going to be out of a lot of money. It's stupid to rope a calf that way.

Its such a shame. Most of these horses could be amazing riding horses or pets with time. One of the greatest ponies I have ever known was brought off a rodeo. So quiet he was owned by a 3 yearr old.

I haven't done any research on what he's done yet, but with all the issues going on with abuse, it will take years to fix most of it. The horses buck like that because that extra belt by the horse's back legs are actually pulling on the horse's genitals back forcfully, thus, causeing the horse to buck wildly in an attempt to escape the pain. I could never be the one to watch that for fun.

The straps they put on these animals never touch the genitals of the animal and the is never any sharp or pointed objects put in them to hurt the animal the strap is put around back just behind the belly and in front of the genitals it causes the animal to kick to try and get if off it hurts the animal in no way. Rodeo events are merely demonstrations of the skills real cowboys perform on a daily basis. Calf roping and steer roping are necessary in order to care for the animals. Give them vaccines, deworming, attaching ear tags, etc. I've been to many rodeos, have no clue what the deal is with pulling horses with a team. Never seen it.
You've cherry picked extreme and rare situations. Remember rodeo animals are only perform 2 or 3 times daily. They are smart and know the 'routine or act'.

I don't know what rodeo allows for the calf to be roped by the neck, cattle are very expensive and if you kill a calf, then you're going to be out of a lot of money. It's stupid to rope a calf that way.

It's called "rodeo blind", in case you were wondering why. I can only assume you use these "traditional" methods for horse-"training". Do you use the hanging method of dog-training as well? One of my best buddies is a cattle rancher in Alberta, and she's very much into rodeo. However, she also hates the Wild Pony Races, and has freely admitted that the tie-down is just.plain.abuse. Factory farm folk have turned off many people to the thought of eating meat, and rodeo is the further proof that "ranchers" don't give a flying fig for their animals. I haven't done any research on what he's done yet, but with all the issues going on with abuse, it will take years to fix most of it. Dog fighting, cock fighting, improving animal shelters, zoos, either shutting down slaughter houses or making them much much more humane,etc. imagine all that plus making sure we all get our checks, that hospitals get good funding. the list is endless. but I do agree. this is awful.

The horses buck like that because that extra belt by the horse's back legs are actually pulling on the horse's genitals back forcfully, thus, causeing the horse to buck wildly in an attempt to escape the pain. I could never be the one to watch that for fun.

The straps they put on these animals never touch the genitals of the animal and the is never any sharp or pointed objects put in them to hurt the animal the strap is put around back just behind the belly and in front of the genitals it causes the animal to kick to try and get if off it hurts the animal in no way.
