Maybe because it's a really well made game with character development, sick action scenes, in depth plot progression, kick-ass heros/heroines, cool romance sub-plots, and great gameplay? Maybe it's because we like a nice balanced game with all of those factors.

Secondly they play Mass Effect for the simple reason why anyone plays a game, because they find it fun, its entertaining and they find it engaging.

What more is there to ask for? Well other then commenters who take the time to write structured, thought out and frankly civil messages.

@blackwingraven29 dont try to bullshit me .. if you say girls like to play games because they are fun why arent they playing Battlefield , GTA IV , Starcraft , Call of Duty or anyother game ... i have the feeling very few girls play actually games and when they play them they are normally games like Sims .. or games like this where the most part of the game is talking and where you can romance ... the percentage of girls in games like i named before is close to zero ... why is that ?

@chabi3000 Because as Elisabetta has remarked that tastes differ, Opinion on what makes a game enjoyable is different from person to person and your frankly amusing response tells me you don't think outside of the box much to at all. Just because you have never heard of any girls who like those particular games doesn't mean they exist it just means you don't know them.

Do try opening your eyes and taking a broader look at life. It's has so much more then any of us know.

Mass Effect. Bioware's latest masterpiece. So far ME1+2 are out, ME3 will come in 2011. Cannot wait!!!

you can actually influence the plot by making choices huh?

Indeed. Your choices influence everything. You can import your last save from ME1 to ME2 and that will determine which story you'll get in ME2.
