You could damn near live out of a super center If you had to! Next time your in one just stand in the middle of it and look around... Everything you could possibly need to sustain life for weeks even months under one roof!! and even a gas station in the parking lot. I'm not condoning looting, but when your family is starving and dying in front of you, and help is nowhere near.... ethics can take a back seat to saving and protecting your loved ones!!

Its always a good idea to keep all options open! I myself am prepared for many situations but many are not, and will not be no matter how long you preach preparedness! They will simply have to be opertunistic to survive.. As history has shown again and again! Thats all Im saying..

Stealing/fighting over food is what people will do at super centers and other places with supplies. The place will be cleared out fast and going there will pose a danger to everyone involved. Best case where breaking into a store would be ok in my book would also be too bad to risk it. If you have to find food animals or less thought of places for food will be better, best is to stock up. In most cases people will just have to make do with boiled water and canned food no one likes.

I work at a supercenter and make those big cardboard bales everyday. Let me tell ya, they weigh about a half ton each and you couldn't shoot through one of them. They would stop an RPG. They would be almost impossible to burn also. You might burn a layer or two off...but thats it. Not a bad idea for a deterent, but I would have stacked them 3 high and 3 layers deep. That would have virtually made it impossible to get in.

looting depends on what type of people live in an area. i live in a relatively low income area. went thru 4 hurricanes in as many years yet even when the power is lost,people dont take advatage of it.

when you cut it you better be able to run fast. They sometimes lash out like a razor blade and the bundle can fall apart. Happen a lot at my old work and you got real good at dodging the metal bands.
