These shoes would be terible for freerunning only because of the grip the entire grip is made out of tht light foam stuff and the only rubber grip is on the tip toes and your heel
i got an old version of these at good will today for 8 bucks! but. . . i am going slogging through mud tomarrow, hopefully they will wash out clean and not get torn up. :)
Thanks for all the views and responses, I am currently deciding on my next running shoe and as of right now it is going to be the adizero feather. Im open to any other suggestions!
@ladiesman217d i have nike frees and just throw them in the washer and have them air- dry. i have done this many times and it does not effect the shoe form.
@pilotyamil97 I threw mine in the washing machine and they come out fine. Just dont put them in the dryer or the sole will get flimsy and possibly harden out of shape
@scarlettradems they will work but the bottom of the shoe will wear down really easily due to the foamy material the bottom of the shoe is make of. go ahead and try it though, everybodys walking or running style is different, making every shoe wear down faster or differently.
Wanna know what running shoe to get? Problem solved with the new iPhone Application called ‘Wet Test’ on iTunes. If there’s a shoe for you we will find it.
These shoes won't make any one a better runner they just make it possible for more flexibility and technigue is probably what you'll learn fast with these shoes cause you'll probably hurt alot more cause of the less padding and less arch support. These shoes are for advanced runners.
would you recommend these for track practice? (sprinting). or heavy squating and stuff like that? i'm in football and track and i need a good pair of shoes for both. i have terrible shin splints and i've been told that running with shoes that sort of simulate barefoot running are the best for shin splints. is that true? please respond
@ghsr82 flat shoes for lifting, track shoes when on the track ( depending on what you race), and regualr sneakers (like these) for when not on the trrack... preferably... if not then these will do
@ghsr8 I have shin splints too. I am still considering if i should get them or not after trying out a friends pair for a day. They hurt more your shins more than normal shoes until you get used to them which takes about a week. after that they help strengthen muscles that aren't used primarily, so they should help your shin splints in the long run
They may look like a cool shoe, But do they really give the right support that your foot needs. There are 3 types of feet and 3 types of shoes, to find out which one you are download this application of iTunes called, 'WET TEST'
If ur a beginner use the nike free's but you really wont be as barefoot as possible. If u look at the shoe there is still a pretty big sole which is not good if u want to be barefoot. If ur looking for something more minimal try the vibram five fingers.
I run about 45-50 miles a week and I've had the nike lunar elites which were really nice. I'm a neutral runner with flat feet but i have orthodic insoles. what would you say about getting a shoe like this?
@ripwec I got these at a footlocker last summer, however your right I tried looking for them online in the same color after I purchase them and it was nearly impossible. Best bet is a footlocker store or on ebay
@Coops219 NOOO there is no support for cutting or making any other quick movements other then running straight. Shoes will probably rip or stretch out, or you will roll an ankle
@Coops219 yea man, omg no! I actually made that mistake and tore my ATFL and CFL :-( I will post a video of the results... stick to basketball shoes LOL! (seriously... i am a retard)
Well this shoe is for free running (Parkour). That is why they put the rubber on the front part of the toes. It is for grip funning up walls and doing back flips of anything. I am interested to see how it would work for regular running because it is a specific shoe made for specific type of running (Parkour).
I've had these for a week so far...I really like them. My only problem with them is the amount of small pebbles/rocks they tend to collect. I got the white/blue/grey version and they still look really clean, which is really nice. I have slightly flat feet and these have been really good to my feet, so if you are curious about that don't worry. Your legs and feet will be a little sore after your first few times wearing these due to the different muscles you will use. I'll be getting another pair.
@hippohappy12 Not at all, however I know they used to make Trail versions of the Free shoes so that would be your best bet, only I don't know if you can find them anywhere
@gearheadtc I feel like they are true to size. I wear a size 12 in dunks and i have these in a size 11.5. I could even go a half size lower if I wanted a more snug fit
Yeah i just got the exact same pair in the mail today. I like them i went and ran down my road alittle bit. but i saw on google some people put that you shouldnt wear therm everyday when you first get them. should i where them lke every other day wheni run?? ANd do ou think these will be ok for cross country, with the trails and stuff? And great review man.
Hey, I was wondering if i need to have my iPod with me when i run if im using the nike sensor inside the shoe. I dont prefer to hold my iPod while I run, especially during long runs.
@PowerOfTheUchiha You do need your ipod. I just bought an armband from bestbuy which was on clearance for 5$. not only did it have an armband but it came in a great thin case which i've been looking for forever
@AciidExE I tried both on and these felt better from the start. although I dont know which would be better for running since i have no had the chance to run in the lunarglides
@jjwumaster yeah im really sorry about the ending. For some reason when i record on my webcam it cuts out the last 10 seconds even though i finish making the video
Ive had these shoes for about 3 weeks now...major improvement in speed....calves were effen sore after each run...love these shoes! BTW im over pronated...and help with my plantar fasciitis..=D
I'm getting mine tomorrow or the day after. As for the rubber tip problem you have, don't worry, i've had last years 5.0's for like 1 1/2 years, and they still work great. The rubber on the 5.0's was exactly the same as these, so don't worry about it.
@zildjianplaya2000 hahaha! dude, i literally just got back from running in them. Oh man, it felt like running on clouds. Theyre as light as a feather, and as flexable as chewing gum. Great shoe for a good price. They even smell good!
