  • KLAUS NOMI...we LOVED and LOVE you still!

  • I like nomi interpretation, it's frozen solid, it's death, it's perfect for this song

  • scary as fook.

  • Time Flies Like Rabbits on Fire!

  • A beautiful man and singer. A head of his time, and taken away to soon

  • :') dios mio !!!

  • sounds and looks like vladimir harkhonnen's funeral!

  • @tonial111 don't know who that is-but that musta been one helluva bash

  • Comment removed

  • quel voix envoutante ! je suis plongé dedans !

  • tu nous manquera toujours

  • Wonderful Klaus Nomi, taken in its prime. Used to see him all the time at the Underground in NYC, Danceteria, Area, etc. In this video the male "model" is the (also wonderful perfomer) Joey Arias.

  • King Arthur wore lipstick???

  • Beautiful.

  • TODO UN GENIO

  • So sad about his tragic death. Wonderful musician and so glad to see the V and A are celebrating his life in their Post Modern exhibition.

  • Paulovespanic, have hope, when Nomi recorded this, we'd suffered only a few years before the likes of Sean Cassidy doing a cover of Do-Ron-Ron. It was the sheer wall of mindless music (namely disco) that gave birth to a ton of fresh, innovative musicians that in many ways have taken decades for people to really appreciate them. At the time, most people just labeled them 'Freaks'. Be the change you want to see and support new talent. Remember the drivel is there for the drivelers.

  • are we talking about this song? this was composes by Henry Purcell in the late late 15th century never the less. Nomi was a great counter tenor way ahead of his time. Baroque music is very popular now everyone wants to be a counter tenor now a days

  • a formidable force

    to

    force

    your planet to reconsider....

  • Formidable Génie du Froid !

  • It's like Star Trek gone wrong....

  • @TheFlyingDW Awesome comment. Cheers.

  • jme mouille

  • Klaus Nomi was a genius <3 the reason I got interested in opera and Shakespeare ( this is from Purcell's King Arthur ) when I was young, a true original

.They don't make them like they used to these days with autotune and all the video hoes .

By the way I m the same age as Lady gaga, I think she never hid her sources in interviews and all , the sad part is that the youngsters don't search and listen to the artists that created her image. Her look may be edgy but her music is commercial pop :(

  • you may be right? clubby wonnabes, yes perhaps, her sound is somewhat commercial. meaning it brings in the cash. it is different times. during nomi's time, people created their own freakshow, real talent was a commodity, and they were given a platform. in todays world of manufactured "idols" Gaga is a breath of fresh air. I make sure that I Introduce Nomi and Hagen to as many so called Arty people, who may never have heard of them outside of germany or new york.

  • some of you make the comparison of Gaga and Grace to Klaus Nomi and dislike her for it. I love Gaga, cause for me she honours the likes of Nomi.

  • magic

  • All this talk of Lady Gaga.. if she can turn one kid towards this kind of music then i'd be pleased.

  • Whenever people praise Lady Gaga for being such an incredible, talented, artistic human being, I always seem to have the inclination to show them Klaus Nomi. Of course, they laugh and say that he's 'weird.' Goes to show that most people are a product of the times and can't distinguish true art from a simple vanity interest. So disappointing.

  • I blame God for sending me at a time where I had to watch music's death, wth? I missed Nomi's time but had to live in Gaga's and Bieber's.

    Shoot me

  • @paulovespanic Every time had it's Gaga's and Bieber's. However we tend to forget about those. It's only the good stuff that stays.

  • @paulovespanic sad isn't it?

  • @paulovespanic nobody is forcing you to listen to them.... there are plenty of good artists out there. dont listen to everything the radio tells you to listen to

  • @paulovespanic You should be upset with yourself, because you're NOT missing Nomi's time, or any past musician for that matter. You should be happy you have the internet, where all music has been immortalized (for free). Also, there is still amazing music out there... allmusic website has a cool feature where you can see who influenced Klaus and who was influenced BY Klaus. I'm sure you'll find someone from today who is epic. Just stay away from the radio.

  • @paulovespanic I don't know about you, but i am seriously gonna shoot myself if i have to watch and listen to this one more time. Don't wanna offend noone.

  • @paulovespanic yeah-and Gaga will prolly say she was "influenced" by NOMI

  • @paulovespanic

...and 18 of this f....... Bieber-fans tought they must vote here.....

  • The genius of Nomi...

Looks and sounds like he's out of space

    He astonishes me!

  • I hate when all the artists I truly admire are constantly compared to Gaga. She can't even sing and is supposed to be a singer. She just takes ideas from those that were truly unique in their time, puts some synths over it and regurgitates it all on the masses.

  • Here's a scary thought. 800 years from now, if anyone actually bothers to look back, Klaus Nomi, Lady Gaga and Freddie Mercury will probably be seen as ''contemporaries''.

  • I bit weak transition between chest and head voice. But, who am I to say? Never had a gig like this. Amazing voice.

  • Klaus has an absolutely AMAZING vocal range. :) He was so full of talent.

  • Nomi seems to have just a few "looks" which he stays for more than one song -- perhaps meant as real expressions of himself. Lady G seems to drum up a new weird look for every single-- it's about the song rather than herself. In fairness it must be admitted that Klaus Nomi worked with some way better composers and lyricists than Lady G seems to have at her fingertips. For example: Henry Purcell.

(And Henry Purcell was himself a counertenor, like Klaus Nomi).

  • @theRealPlaidRabbit Didn't know that. Interesting.

  • I just discovered that people make a comparison between this amazing character and Lady Gaga. I'm still trying to figure out how/why they ever came to this.

  • @CapitaineGMC Me too! It should be material for a doctoral thesis in about 15 years.

  • We need more artists like him, who cares about his sexual preferences and such things, just hear that voice for christ sake!

  • hes weird

  • Look how far away his face is form the microphone! He is throwing his voice so well and with such prestige......what a true loss to the world gay or not.

  • great......................

  • This video strangely reminds me of the Mikado. I'm not completely sure why.

  • I can't understand why everywhere in Nomi's videos people talking about Gaga. Please stop it.

  • @GoodChineezeCheeze OK. let me talk about Yma Sumac, who had real range. Listern to her 'Pachamama".

  • @josemagus I don't care about range

  • @GoodChineezeCheeze what isn't to understand? it is obviously because they have a similar taste in style and fashion.

  • this reminds me of YAZOO's song "winter kills"

  • Interprétation magistrale ,finesse des visuels:bravo

  • edward scissor hands = klaus nomi

  • please don't insult Klaus Nomi memory comparing him with that exercise in bad taste and lack of talent disguised as eccentricity called Lady gaga.

  • some one should tell gaga about this guy.....1st time listening to him and other videos of him and NOT a gaga fan at all im into Rock and Metal i just happen to stumble into this video and well its good....

  • Superbe ...

  • I LOVE YOU HUGH,FOREVER MY BABY!HAYNI

  • JUSTE INCROYABLE

  • How sad. The whole performance was beautiful, by the dancers as well.

  • Don't laugh, but there's a weird similarity with Susan Boyle! Klaus wanted to sing soprano opera, which men didn't do at that time. He was advised to not persue this course. He did it anyway, and was sucessful-he just dressed it up in alien garb. Boyle was supposed to be too old, fat, and unattractive to compete with the young kids on TV. She did it anyway and was sucessful!! Some people don't let anything stop them and succeed against the odds...

  • @grandguignolplanet

    lol Perfect. XD

  • That's it.......... now I have truly seen everything.

He could have been responsible for the highest rated Star Trek episode of all time. No disrespect at all, just lightheartedness. He's very talented.

  • So beautiful and so sad. This is relly amazing.

  • now thats the real lady gaga

  • Yes!!

  • Creative genius without being vulgar. I miss him so much!!!

  • Fucking genius, ouh yeah <3

  • this guy has some major lungs to hit those notes like that

  • Klaus, tu nous manques, tu es si mystérieux !

  • this is absolutely chilling

  • amazing

remenber the song and always thinking that he was a woman.

  • Génialissime. Un tableau à lui tout seul. Une apparition. Une histoire. Une pièce de théâtre. Un décor. Une VOIX. UN ART. L'art de susciter une émotion.

  • Witty, eloquent, delicate, self-conscious, intensely artificial. All that it takes for a great C18 performance.

  • Im creeped the fuck out

  • Glad you get it!

  • actually, i really like her-thank god shes trying to do something a bit different-not just the usual r&b tosh. I wonder if shes aware of nomi???

  • @thelittlebombardier

She's dropped his name, yes. She does that. A lot. I'm unimpressed by her. There are other more innovative artists out there than Lady GaGa. She's just the most shallow and obnoxious, so she gets all the press.

Patrick Wolf is a good example. Someone of this generation who's been doing 'something different' longer than GaGa. (who did not even invent her own persona and stage name!)

  • Lady Gaga is carrying the torch, visually though perhaps not musically. There's no need to set them up in opposition or dismiss her as a pretender -- that won't bring Nomi back.

  • @hylasdrowned ... What the fuck is Lady fucking Caca as to do with this... goo goo ga ga ca ca ... Klaus was a genious... Lady Caca is a infantil joke ...

  • @trancis36 have a wank or something, chill out man!

  • my old pals! we formed Strange Party from the ashes of this show...

  • HOT!!!

  • Lady Ga Ga-eat ya heart out!!!!

  • Absolutely!

  • @thelittlebombardier ,,, I hate that bitch

  • @trancis36 Wow, such passion. Hope Nomi is smiling down...

  • @thelittlebombardier ,,, Nomi is smiling down for sure... I'm just sick of Gaga being compared to the genius of Grace first and now Nomi ... Please... Nomi and Grace are innovative and unique... Lady thing is grotesque immature and a wannabe ... her lyrics are for b b b b b b b babies... goo goo ga ga t t t t t t t t t tries to hard to be different and it's just tasteless . Now let this page be for Nomi.

  • @trancis36 i think she's doing nomi and alot of others proud regardless of lyrical content.

  • @trancis36 Klaus Nomi was an artist, lady gaga is just fucking shit!

  • @trancis36 Gentleman Gaga

  • @thelittlebombardier actually if she came out and cited ol' boy nomi as an influence her artistic cred for me would be doubled.

not saying she's bad....just 20 years late on the nomi look.

  • @thelittlebombardier

    T'as pas faut !

  • @thelittlebombardier

    hahaha fuck her

    she'll probably steal the costume

  • @thelittlebombardier: I say, Prince Poppycock eat your heart out!

  • @thelittlebombardier Gaga is still awesome

  • wonderfull.

  • ¡SORPRENDENTE VOZ!

  • Grotesque and lovely!!

  • (Music by Henry Purcell, Lyrics by John Dryden)

What Power art thou who from below

Hast made me rise unwillingly and slow

    From beds of everlasting snow?

See'st thou not how stiff and wondrous old,

Far unfit to bear the bitter cold,

I can scarcely move or draw my breath?

Let me, let me freeze again to death

  • omg ....

  • wow amazing

  • an amazing singer

  • quand on connaît rien on se la ferme espèce d'inculte

  • ta raison klaus étais génial

  • its not shit

  • Pauvre inculte va...!!!!!!

  • que de souvenir super merci

  • @KeViNSoSeXii So rare. Phenomenal.

  • love, love~

  • Incroyable, pure, magnifique.

  • I wonder if he ever "worked" with Freddie Mercury.

  • Me too :)

  • This is Genius. That was great. Was so happy to see something more unique and different, another addition to my musical taste.

  • Klaus Nomi is a GENIUS, and will always be remembered as such! And America was the country were he got aknowledged first. So Bless America for letting such beauty open up. He conquered the entire world afterwards

  • I think you are joking.

  • I am most certainly not. Most comments on this page state that he was Genius, where would the joke be?

  • and you can see that there are a lot of thumbs up for my comment

  • @lili90277 ... whatever... America killed him !

  • smthn else, i'm not gay but my education taught me that tolerance is the only path to peace, and apparently the US want a global peace hence "pacification" in Iraq... I have several gay friends, some of them are among my closest friends, and u must know that it would be much more easier for them to be straight, because of guys like u, and that they certainly did not decide to be looked like curiosities in the street. If god exists, how could he condamn smthn that wasnt chosen?

  • dbviewer,

I'm sure u'll be happy to learn that guys like u create the global derision (and sometimes hatred, hate creating nothing but hate) that ur country has to suffer. Lets face it: nowadays the people who admire the states are the ones who don't know them. A bunch of ignorants spitting on the lessons brought by history and culture because they contradict an archaic book whom understanding of reality has nothing to do with contemporary reality represent today's greatest power...

  • psychedaelic993.

You're brain has more politically correct, blame-America-first, shit in it, than your boyfriends pecker has your shit on it.

Didn't think I'd find your little pussy, oops sorry, I meant ass comment, now did you?

    Didn't t

  • Nice to see a fellow radical traditionalist posting on youtube.

  • you don't even know what you're talking about. Most Americans aren't the ignorant shits you seem to be talking about. I'm not going to tell you we're the brightest crayon in the box, but America is a nation all about diversity- there's a little bit of everything in every respect and 99% of Americans like it that way- respect for different ideas is big too. Klaus relocated to America after all, didn't he?

  • most of america is filled with dumb asses that think they're unique but truly they just copy everything they see and get inspired by other peoples ideas, so unique

  • and how is that different from any other part of the world?

  • it isn't. there are just individuals like Klaus sperber that are unique and breath creativity, the prodigies
