It did seem a bit unusual at first I agree. But to be fair, alot of the material in the fictional interviews are cited from biographies and contemporary accounts, and thus were presenting authentic information. I found it to be an interesting way of presenting such information - better than always having the narrator read out all of it at least. I didn't mind it by the end of the miniseries.
@bradpint He had two brothers, Johann and the other was Kaspar Karl. From my understanding they referred to him by Karl. Beethoven addressed the Heiligenstadt Testament to Carl and [ ], the blank being Johann, but for some reason he chose to omit his name.
3. Cause someone to stop speaking, silence someone, as in It's time someone shut him up. [Early 1800s]
4. Stop speaking, as in I've told you what I think and now I'll shut up. This usage also occurs as a rather rude imperative, as in Shut up! You've said enough. [First half of 1800s]

Fucking Christ, the fictionalized interview....
This is hands down the tackiest narrative device anyone anywhere has ever come up with.

I wonder how Beethoven's dad was treated by his father? Anyone know if Ludwig and his granddad was close?
Ramanujan88 3 years ago

@Ramanujan88 Beethoven's grandpa died when Beethoven was 3 years old, but Beethoven asked his mom to talk to him about his grandpa.
