  • @WigsAndSwords1 Even in Bonn?

  • that child who play beethoven is so cute :D

  • @polymath7

It did seem a bit unusual at first I agree. But to be fair, alot of the material in the fictional interviews are cited from biographies and contemporary accounts, and thus were presenting authentic information. I found it to be an interesting way of presenting such information - better than always having the narrator read out all of it at least. I didn't mind it by the end of the miniseries.

  • *rolls eyes*

    Fucking Christ, the fictionalized interview....

This is hands down the tackiest narrative device anyone anywhere has ever come up with.

  • "If you play it flat once more, I will kill you with my bare hands."

  • They look nothing like Beethoven!

  • what song is he playing starting at 2:50 ??

  • @marlieshockey It's from one of the sonatas he wrote when he was 12 years old.

  • oh...the name??well it is a piano sonata from beethoven's but i can't remember which one....sorry!

  • what is the name of the piece played at the beginning of video???? please

  • yes. His name was Kaspar Karl.

  • Ludwig van Beethoven's brother was called Kaspar, not Karl, wasn't he?

  • @bradpint if i remember correctly (from some biography i read somewhere lol) ludwig had two brothers, casper and johann

  • @bradpint He had two brothers, Johann and the other was Kaspar Karl. From my understanding they referred to him by Karl. Beethoven addressed the Heiligenstadt Testament to Carl and [ ], the blank being Johann, but for some reason he chose to omit his name.

  • @bradpint I think thats the names of his brother and his nephew? Not sure which way round but im sure that the documentary has got it right! :)

  • @bradpint

Kaspar Karl van Beethoven was his full name. The third brother was Johann Nikolaus van Beethoven.

  • Look, what I found about "Shut up":

    3. Cause someone to stop speaking, silence someone, as in It's time someone shut him up. [Early 1800s]

    4. Stop speaking, as in I've told you what I think and now I'll shut up. This usage also occurs as a rather rude imperative, as in Shut up! You've said enough. [First half of 1800s]

  • I now know the bunch of people that will love a deaf beethoven...

  • beethoven said shut up?

  • yea...isnt that kinda 20-21st century?

  • y,kind of unlogical...that hedidnt beat him up :D

  • What's the melody from 5:17. And does anyone else hear similarities to Phil Collins - Groovy Kind of Love. No really.

  • I can definately hear what you're saying - Phil's a fraud!

  • y is the piano all black

  • Unless my ears deceive me YOU are playing FLAT. >=(

  • Beethoven was so bold.

  • I wonder how Beethoven's dad was treated by his father? Anyone know if Ludwig and his granddad was close?

  • yes they were and his death affected deeply the Beethoven family especially Ludwig and his mother.

  • Thank you very much for that bit.

  • @Ramanujan88 Beethoven's grandpa died when Beethoven was 3 years old, but Beethoven asked his mom to talk to him about his grandpa.
