I briefly crossed paths with DW while recording an album at his Brother Studios in Santa Monica. DW was working on P.O.B. at the same time. One evening, in the middle of my session, he walked in and invited me to hang out while he played some songs on the piano. We ended up getting quite drunk and then jamming together, after which he tore up my bill for my day's session. He always greeted me and said goodbye with a huge hug.
is this dvd still available to people? I didnt know of this film until now, It sounds awesome. I got to meet Dennis around 1980 or so I was very young.
I met Dennis in Dearborn Mi when he was out promoting his album. He looked good and was very nice and professional. He gave me a firm handshake and posed with me for a photo which I always love to show off (and you didn't have to buy anything). In short, he was a nice guy.
Dennis was the only surfer in the beach boys. Mike Love was the biggest joke. Dennis would come out of the water and tell Brian what it felt like and Brian put those feelings into music. Mike Love stuck his nose in it just to get some credit.
I lived and grew up in Denver, and yes, I also wanted to be Dennis; every guy I knew wanted to be him. Forget Any of The Beatles; when it came to sex appeal, there was no one like him; no one. He also sang wonderfully; his voice gave the 5 part harmony its rich, complete, sound. As Carl was the Heart, so Dennis was the Spirit, of The Beach Boys. Forver, Dennis. Wolfsky9
thanks, thefilmer51, for sharing this endearing tribute to dennis wilson. by the way, for those who aren't aware, billy hinsche was a member of dino, desi and billy, popular around 1970 or so. i'm a fool, such a silly fool!! david, class of '71.
