@Anandfulness it's not that you hyperextend the knee or anything. You just pull a little flexion. And no, you probably haven't seen this because NOBODY really wants to study JKD. they all want to be internet heroes because they can pak sau or jab fast... but UNDERSTANDING is deeper than seeing. Applying is better than knowing.
is it possible to create the same type of power with your "power-side" to the back... in a more traditional orthadox stance. Not only with this particular kick, but Jun Fan's JKD in general.
i've always been very sceptical of the scoop kick, but this looks damn good. i think the key point of understanding this kick is to allow the knee to go beyond the target, and relax, always to relax the leg to get the snap.
exactly, but you can use this in general for hook kicks too, knee above target and snap the kick the important thing is that ur leg/foot comes down the same way as it went up and your foot lands in the exact position where you started (that's important for any follow ups if needed). so snap to kick fast and to recover fast.
tommy gave me a similar explanation on groin and hook kick.
it kinda became a new sport in the jkd community to use tommy as an argument for whatsoever topic without knowing him or what he teaches. This gives him a bad reputation cause people go tommy this and tommy that and sometimes "tommy said that...."
Not the scoop kick I'm familiar with. This looks much more like a front kick.

Interesting. I actually learned this kick from my Krav Maga instructor and we train with it regularly, very effective.

Where did he learn this kick. Was it from the man sitting in the chair?

@HARDSTOPHIT
Wouldn't surprise me. If I'm not mistaken the man sitting in the chair is Tim Tackett.

Is this healthy for the knee joint? I know different types of groin kicks but this I haven't seen.

I think it is possible as long as you train very very very hard and stay relaxed when you are doing the kick.

Is that Tim Tackett sitting in the background?
