I'm not much expert, but I assume you need increase Voltage to get more speed.

Hi
I want to tune up my electric bike
Now it has 48V 500W rear hub motor, battery 48V 16Ah and regular controller.
I will rebuild my controller with recuperation system like this one in this video Electric Bicycle with updated speed controller SMD 1 - take a look at YouTube. Any advices will be appreciated.
