  • Just think that guy was his training buddy. OUCH!!!

  • Where in New York City are these classes conducted?

  • @memyself4ever1 Brooklyn. Ave U. The schools website is veearnisjitsu You could buy the entire system for $300 on the site as well.

  • I think its hysterical how the guys shirt says "VAJ"

  • Professor James Is no joke. Teaches real Self defense.

  • Poor fella must have been late with his dojo fees.....

  • I bet SHIHAN doesn't wanna see Ju-Jitsu. JEEZ!!! That hurt ME!!!

  • I bet his students HATE being on the receiving end of techniques. Talk about traumatized....

  • Bra why are you so angry. LMAO

  • Wanna See Jiu Jitsu!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats enough jee jitsu for you?

  • i like that the sign in the back says ″way of harmony″.

  • @Greatsocratesghost HAHAHAH very harmonious

  • dumb way of self defence, the guy screams more then he does harm.

  • @Besartio Like the man says, go ahead and show up at his dojo then talk.

  • Great insight there at the end!

  • That poor dude...!

  • IS THAT ENUFF JUJITSU 4 YA LMAO

  • Love it-the instructor will get the students in th class attention-what really is good is the mental drivehe teachs the student-turn from a victim int a atttacker-respectfully oldsgtmajusmc in clarksvill tn

  • I saw a video of my Insturctor's Instructor choking Professor V out. It was crazy since I'd heard so much in honor of him. This was years ago, however, Professor V is still one of the pioneers in this form of MA. There's always someone who may be better. Thats what makes MA so gr8. Yelling in a dojo, however, denotes insecurity.

  • @gaboradi

I don't know man, yelling like crazy is good in some training sessions, cause it get's your blood pumping, the adrenalin going, so guys who don't have a lot of street skill or experience with such encounters can get used to feeling all pumped up. I have a friend who's 5'6" and 125 pounds, and I can tell you that he has managed to scare of much bigger guys (in some cases) just by screaming at them like a maniac and slapping or pushing them. Works even better for someone who's big.

  • This dude is crazy with the locks man.. i'm surprised the guy's hands/wrist aren't shaking

  • great demo. u do have to earn the right to do jujitsu!!!!!! PROFESSOR VEE AND MASTER MOSES POWELL LIVE FOREVER!!!! EYE TO EYE,HEART TO HEART,EACH ONE TEACH ONE ,OUSS!!!!

  • Sensei Smith is not wearing effective safety equipment for a demo as intense as this. (The equipment used in Professor James's HIT 123 series is far more appropriate.) Sensei's knee and shin padding is not effective at 00:36, and adequate (or some) groin protection could have prevented the results shown at 00:50.

  • I do urban krav maga which is kravmaga developed for life on the streets and our instructor is almost exactly like this guy and most of the moves are identical.

Everything this guys says is true but a lot of dumb people badmouth realistic martial arts and go on to become blackbelts who can't fight.

  • Great Video.

I'm a Big fan of your style of Martial Arts- and I try to impliment it into my own training. I had a friend at Uni who was a EX Royal Marine- and He favoured the Strike First - then Grapple flow of fighting.

"Jello Him frst, then pur the lock on..."

Sadly, most instructors insist on the 'Gentle Way' style of training- and as such

it's very hard to create a realistic scenario in the averagage Friday Night Club.

Merry Christmas and Thanks for Posting :)

  • @flashart agrees with David James statement on making his hands like jelly then take it (lock it). If your even going to put on lock on in chaotic situation you better shock him so you have time to put on a lock.

  • @flashart you should learn the "gentle way" of brazilian jiujitsu to start. after 4 years of that, you'll be fucking deadly when you ramp up your training to include stuff like VAJ. hell after 1 year you can be deadly, 4 is just insane imo. other martial arts compliment VAJ so well

  • @newerest1

Yeah- I had a look at your vids- they're pretty cool.

We did do a little bit of Ground Work at my club- mainly Escapes rather than competitive mat wrestling.

All good stuff. Nice to add new techniques to your arsenal.

    Thanks for your Reply.

  • @flashart yeah that's a good strategy to have. a lot of people refuse to learn ground techniques because of whatever preconveiced notions they have.

I learn more typical ground fighting because I feel like it compliments everything, there are times where 1v1 is possible and is actually happening, so i can take it to the ground if i want. i know a bit of mt so if im outstriking someone, theyre likely to try and take me down. i've gotten like 5 anaconda chokes from sprawl like that.

  • with all respect but its soo easy to do this kind of show, without a committed atacker

  • YOU HAVE TO BECOME SOMEBODY ELSE FOR 30 SECONDS TO EARN THE RIGHT TO MAKE IT HOME TO YOUR FAMILY. SELF DEFENSE IS VIOLENT No SUCH THING AS EFFORTLESS SELF DEFENSE. These concepts are virtually LOST today in the squeaky clean yuppie schools where people skip down the streets wearing their nice wht pressed uniforms without a drop of sweat, blood or dirt on them. And then they wonder WHY they cant defend themselves when the time comes.

  • very nice sr. i enjoy watching your videos, maybe you can give me some tips, i enjoy teaching for real, practical situations. But how do you keep up the intensity and not scare students away. any pointers will help thank you

  • @frostydsm78 Students dont get scared away because they are COMMITTED. I was not a student of master James but our school trained in a very realistic way also. This was the way you learned martial arts in the old days and the lessons STUCK. Truth be told about Prof VEE he was a LEGEND and a GIFT to the African American Martial arts community. Even people who didnt take martial arts KNEW who master VEE was.

  • I love martial art, but if you are getting beat to a pulp by your teacher how do you ever learn anything? Also what about injuries? I understand the imporatnce of training reality however tecahing method is just as importatnt. Can a stuednt trust a teacher that routinley hurts them?

  • @neterkeht1 I hear you and your right but that's how these instructors teach for a few reasons.1is to show you it really works cause if shown lighting you'll think it not gonna work. 2 Most instructors are also practicing on you.3 I think is to make sure you never step or question your instructor to avoid future challenges. But I've told my Sifu other instructors I believe it works and to go light on me cant afford to get injured and if I get hurt i cant come to class and that means I cant pay

  • @neterkeht1 This is a demonstration video and for the sake of the reality the Uke Shihan Cirilo Smith is being used because he is a seasoned martial artist and can absorb the pain better than most. Professor James does not put it on this type of pain day to day as no one would be able to walk home in one piece. Do not view the video out of context .

  • @vee1963 Please dont be offended, by my question. Thank you for for your explaination, as I was wondering if the daily training was done in this manner. The answer according to you is clearly no. I am in agreemant with you that no students could hold up to such a pounding as a regular training regimen.

  • @neterkeht1 No offense taken! I must add that the training at VAJ is intense and it is not for the person looking for just aerobic exercise. To each his own and different strokes for different folks as they say but if you are looking for well rounded self defense instruction that you can imply to modern society you must be taught to understand and implement not just the physical but the mental exercise of self defense-VAJ emphasizes both and some people can't deal with the mental exercise.

  • ohhh your to strong

  • Where was the video of Prof. David James demonstrating ground grappling?

  • much respect for his last words. The pain that the student endured during this demo is nothing compared to the pain and psychological impact of a real event.

  • I have much respect for the teacher and the style..... But this is definitly the funniest video I've seen in awhile..... I felt your pain brother...lmao

  • damn shame what you did to that man. I love it LOL

  • Ilke your teaching ways.

    Realistic self defense.

As an Aikidoka myself, I like taking my students to this world you create in your teachings, that urgly world we live in.

Keep up the good work, Ous! yours truly Sensei Delgado.

  • i had a man threaten my life yesterday 'there's a bullet for your head' he said i thank professor james for this youtube it's no diff than the 23rd psalm to me if i can use this mind set when this man comes i will survive or at least go out right i dont know if i can as i admit i lost concentration in real time when it happened i cant allow myself to do that again if i dont it will be due to prof james t/y and peace
