  • The G53SW was the biggest regret in my entire life.

  • Why Buy A 17inch And A 15inch?

  • 2:08 -- 2 Megapissel Webcam :D

  • can you take this to classes at school?

  • How many years will this laptop last ?

  • The screen hinge on the G53 looks looks diesel compared to the G73.... Smart move as the 53 is more "on-the-go" size anyway.

  • The G53JW has a HM55 chipset...it does not support Sandy Bridge CPU

  • i got the G53JW with an i7 740qm. My brother has got an hp with 2630qm. can i swap processor? I mean can i take the 2630qm and put it in my G53JW and put my i7 740 in his hp?

    will it fit?

  • @blekbansky I think you can't, because it has another chipset :S (Your g53 has Intel HM55 and the 2nd generation intel processors are compatible with the Intel HM65 or HM67 chipsets only)

  • man ur boring....btw the g53sw pwns all, just got it for b'day :DDDD

  • I heard that the sound card onboard is pretty well that from ROG Asus..is that right?

  • alienware m15x kills both G73 and G53.

and even with a lower price.

  • @devilmaycry0917 yeah but it is out of the shop.... i wanted to buy the m15X so i am looking for an equal one ;)

  • @devilmaycry0917 lower price? are you on crack? i got an asus with the same spec as a $2300 m17x for $1250.... quit being a pussyhole

  • Thanks for the overview mate

  • Solid work man, this video made me buy one

  • is it 3D ?

  • hes warranty is missed up now! LOL XD

  • could someone tell me about the sager np5165, and how it compares to this computer?

  • Do you have any overheating and shutting down problems or BSODs with this laptop?

  • hey zues??

  • 2:09 2MegaPissel lol nice review very thorough

  • You can fully upgrade the memory to 16 gigs! The upgrade is not so simple though. You have to take off the keyboard and the touch pad panel to unscrew the bottom panel from the inside. There are no exterior screws. These machines are well designed. Ram slots 1 and 2 are on the bottom, slot 3 is directly under the keyboard on the top, and there is a secret hidden 4th slot that is under the motherboard. Also, there is an extra hard drive bay. Ideal for solid state.

  • 3d grasses and its wireress

  • cool, i think i might get this..

  • whats the battery life man of the asus g53???

  • @sizuforever around hour and a half.

  • @GenTechPC half hour of gaming or regular use?

  • Can some1 PLEASE do a Video Installation Guide of 4 sticks of ram memory on the ASUS G53JW. step by step, would be super useful none online

  • Gameplay/Benchmark of this laptop on my channel!

  • why arent all overviews like this?

  • 2 mega piselll

    blardy fob

  • Great and very thorough over-view of the laptop.

  • @crimsontrace0100 thanks for watching. :)

  • @GenTechPC NP, after watching this video I ordered mine from costco yesterday and its already here!

A decent price too since it doesnt come with a mouse or backpack since I dont need that.

  • @GenTechPC hey what is better for gaming a asus or alienware? i heard asus has cooling problems is that true?

  • Most of you guys that are posting on this video are retarded, or mentally damaged..

  • so i need to plug in the power adapter when using this laptop? wont that mess up the baterry??

  • I was looking in to buying a new gaming laptop and I don't know what to get, I was looking for something that would be able to handle the latest games, and I'll be able to do some work on it. I have a budget of about £1300, what would you suggest?

  • Hello,

I called Asus Support Belgium and they told me they didn't know for sure if you could replace the HDD without voiding the warranty.

Now my question is if you know if you can replace the HDD with and SSD without voidng the warranty.

  • jeez its actually quit alot smaller.

i got the g53 and i gotta say, fucking incredible

  • what is the diffrence between this and g73

  • Does the G53JW 3D version able to convert standard games into stereoscopic 3D, aswell as videos???

thanks and i really enjoyed ur review

  • @aerohells07

nVidia has a list of games that are classified from best to worst in 3D when it comes to gaming. As for videos, the movies have to be 3D themselves in order to work (like Avatar 3D for example).

  • hi mate, nice review. I'm just wondering, does the Asus G53JW-A1 model have 120hz hdmi out? I'd like to connect it via hdmi to my samsung 2233rz monitor for 120hz gaming.. just wondering if this is possible.

    Thanks for your time!

  • @DanPresland

If the LCD/TV is 3D, then you can connect the G53 to it and transfer 3D imagery to the 3D LCD/T.

  • it cost actually 1190€, really great price, performances improved with no FUll hd screen, Full HD screen just eat more ressources of graphic cards !

  • @GenTechPC

Thank you very much on the review, I would like to ask a couple of things to you or the current owners:

    1. What's the best battery time on this baby? and under what config?(for meetings/light use)

    2. I'm reading a lot of WiFi issues, is that a common thing with this model? Any solutions?

    Cheers!

  • @Bombasaki

    1. Battery is 2h05m with wifi and 1 firefox tab (20% processor config and 2/10 bright)

    2. 0 wifi issues and I'm on the Asus forums daily.

  • Hey nice video !!

Iam deciding between the 17' and the 15' is there anyone you would recommend ?

And why ? Thx for answer ^^

  • @1Drummer88 Recommanded the 15", better performance in gaming because its 1300X720 ( idk the real resolution :D but you understand its not a full HD ) and better transportable, better batterie autonomie ... take it it actually less than 1200€ !!

  • dude your voice is for horror movies not for reviews lol...

    thnxs for the review xD

  • @GenTechPC Would ASUS G53JW-XA1 be a better choice, seeing it is almost the same specs but with better disk space and it only cost $1300

  • @GenTechPC Could you get a Crysis Benchmark on the Asus G53JW please.

  • hey man awesome awesome review, is the 53 faster than the 73?

  • I thought the laptop has 4 ram slot.. is it?

  • i'm getting confused about the max amount of ram. a lot of places are saying 16 gbs since 4 skts.. but on the asus website for this laptop it says a max of 8gb... have you guys actually tested if 16gb of ram actually works?

the asus website was probably a typo.. but still just wanted to make sure

  • @lalalahaha1234 , they forgot to mention 8GB max is for i5 model (if it they ever release one) and with i7 you can get 16GB max.

  • @GenTechPC awesome thanks!!

  • @GenTechPC

is there a express port on it and why do u have the 3d glasses if u have the 1080p one, another thing how is the quality of the webcam

  • @GenTechPC it is i7

  • @lalalahaha1234

its 16 gb calm down man

  • @lalalahaha1234 when the hell are you even going to use up 8gbs of ram

  • The title is wrong, it's G53JW-A1

  • Hello, great review!

I was wondering if the laptop you just reviewed had the IC Diamond Thermal Compound upgrade? Or was it just the stock thermal compound?

  • @xSoju , the GTX460M runs very cool, someone comment on the forum IC Diamond makes no difference with stock thermal compound.

  • @Gen TechPC - Can you please throw some light on the battery of this thing?

I have pre-ordered mine and can't wait to get my hands on it ;)

I heard that I will get it only in December :(

  • @sandys025 , battery life is around 2 hours on battery saving mode.

  • @GenTechPC

    OMG :O

only 2 hrs? that too on power save mode.. it's an 8cell battery :(

expected more.. but I guess it's ok :(

  • @GenTechPC

    OMG only 2 hrs? :O

It has an 8 cell battery. expected more :(

  • @sandys025

You can't have your cake and eat it to with gaming laptops :P I got mine to about 2h10m, so it can handle two lectures. If you want greater battery life, performance is going to take a plunge if you were to select something else.

  • @GenTechPC 2 hours with what sort of resolution ? and batttery saving mode as in the windows one or? also is that the lcd the dimmest , and thats the best battery life?

  • When does this BAD ASS come to Canada? Where can I buy it and how much?

  • @LeGoMaNiAMaN

I bought mine from GenTech and I live in Canada. Works out better price wise, considering our dollar is nearly on par. :)

  • @VoodooRhythmSound Man, I NEED one of these. Know where I can get a used one?

  • @LeGoMaNiAMaN

They JUST came out less than 2 weeks ago LOL I doubt you'll find a used one for a few months.

  • @VoodooRhythmSound Ooooh I thought it came out on par with the G73... But it's so damn expensive... the 3D and the other one >:@

  • wait, can some one enlighten me , is there 2 diffrent modles for the g53? , the a1 and the 3d?,because on the asus rog page it is marketed as 3d being the standard, and in my country there is only the 3d version

  • @shermanlee85856

3D is approximately 300$ more and offers a lower resolution screen. The standard G53JW-A1 offers a full HP screen. The G73JW-3D is also available @ GenTech later this month and will feature a 3-D 1080 HD screen, which is also pretty damn amazing.

  • @VoodooRhythmSound ic thanks, ill still prefer the g53 3d as i dont want to lunge a 17 inch screen around.

  • @GenTechPC Just wanna confirm that there is a 4th ram slot? Cause i saw the xoticpc video and the guy only found 3 slots, and you guys offer the free upgrade to 8GB ram (2G x4) ?

  • @DoubleU92 , yes the 4th RAM slot is under the keyboard. the hidden RAM slot is just right next to the empty slot, but it's very difficutlt to acess to it since you will have to remove the entire top case to see it.

Yes we now offering free upgrade to 8GB. :)

  • You won't regret this, guys! Buy it. Mine arrived this week and I'm extremely satisfied.

  • @VoodooRhythmSound yep mine should arrive this week also;) can`t wait

  • were those temps in Celsius or Fahrenheit ?

  • @TheoO18, it's Fahrenheit .

  • @GenTechPC wow that is really low ;) niceee

  • Thanks for the video Ken, keep doing your thing~!

  • @Illmatic662 , thanks bro, good to see you here again. :)

  • ken you are a video posting machine

  • hey ken, I am the one who switched from preorder G53 to G73!

the laptop is really great! Not regretting the switch....but I do admire the backlit asus logo at the back, haha

I am surprised that it is actually quite big, even comparing against the G73

thanks for the superb services! I will spread the words of how excellent you are to the forums I know!

  • @etismyname , Yeah I remember you. G73JW is just as good and with bigger screen and came with dual HDD and more RAM. :)

    Have fun with your G73JW.

  • @GenTechPC

Do both laps have similar benchmarks?

  • @VagabonNinja , yes they are and the new beta driver 260.89 is now available, it should boost some performance.

  • @VagabonNinja , yes benchmarks are similar.

  • @etismyname

Have you played battlefield bad company 2 on it? I want to play that game on at least medium - high with at least 45fps. Also, want to get fable 3 and play it on that laptop.

  • @VagabonNinja , yes tested it on G73JW with same GPU, you can search my videos on youtube.

  • Viewing angles dont look bad at all.

  • Great review!

  • @stevenjiii , Thank you for watching Steven. :)

  • Hey Ken, it's Greg. Is it you doing the presentation this time?

All in all, it's one nice machine. I don't regret my GX660R, but I know I wouldn't be disappointed with this one.

  • @ShadowForge762 , Hey Greg, yes it's me. :)

GX660R is a incredible beast and I love it too, the Turbo Fan feature just like it has a built-in laptop cooler. :)

  • awsome has the same cooling unit as its big brother now that's awsome! :D

  • @Hekynn , yes G73JW and G53JW share the same cooling design.

  • That's my baby :*)

    Great vid, Ken!

  • @VoodooRhythmSound , Thanks VooDoo, your G53JW will be ship tomorrow. :D

  • Jeffrey is here! Thumbs up for your great review.

  • @antonioreyes1987 , Hey Jeffrey, long time no see. :D

    Thank you for watching. :)

  • @GenTechPC Yea. Long time no see. . . I have subscribed to you. That's why I can follow up your activities in YouTube. Perhaps you can sub me too . . . Peace!
