It would've been a 3rd and 12 for USC from their own 31 with 3:45 left had the refs called it. Furthermore, you didn't pick the year 2000 because it's a "round #". If situation is reversed and LSU gets a break, scores&wins as USCfan I would not be that upset. Worse was no call of VY lateral for TD when he was down in '06 NC no review! I'm not sure if I would say that the SEC has always been better than the Pac 10, but they certainly have been in recent years. That's not disrespecting USC. It's just that USC doesn't have much competition. And just to set the record straight, LSU is 1-1 alltime vs. USC and 12-3 alltime against all Pac 10 teams.

My point was that the Pac 10 doesn't offer the same level of competition as the SEC. The fact is that both LSU and SEC teams in general have won much more often than not when they have played Pac 10 teams.

stph is correct... national championships, Heismans, etc. are a lot of media subjective voting, moreso than "winning". USC has been on a good run, and does have history of success. However, the SEC has a good balance of teams that are strong. PAC 10 does not offer the same resistance from top to bottom.

I was at the game and it was a good hard fought close game. LSU led most of the game but USC, led by Charles White, came back and won in the end with a couple of second half TDs. The final score was USC 17, LSU 12. LSU did crush USC in the rematch at the LA Coliseum in 1984. The score of that game was LSU 23, USC 3.
