  • why didnt they use the arcade graphics capabilities for the NES and famicom? that looked alot better than the NES version itself.

  • 1:25 ummmmm why is popeye fighting the hulk?

  • You forgot the Mobile version.

  • Can anyone tell me please, where can I play it for free or download this game? It's my favorite game from the childhood. But i'm not very good at computers and downloading different stuff.

  • @Taurus2May Google nintendo 8 dot com and click all in the catagories and scroll down till you find popeye OR go to 2600 online dot com and scroll down untill you reach popeye on the side click it and click reset in the box below it

Thank you for information, but, every time I try to do something, computer says, that I have to install Java, although I think, that I have Java in my computer, because I bought it recently and it's completely new, and I have done some things in internet, that requires Java.

  • @Taurus2May SOme of these things only work in AOL 9.1 for me you might need to install that, for some very confusing reason i can only play popeye on there.

  • @Taurus2May Ok look for an eluater called KOLEKO once downloaded open it,hit F1 and press the down key until you stumble upon POPEYE (KOLEKO.98.BIN,if you have the extender which if you download that it will use progresser, but you probably wont need it) Press enter and then what until the keypad menu comes up,press one and use A on your keyboard to punch that will help.

Thanks. I finally got it. Only I wish it was Nintendo version. I like it better.

  • @Taurus2May Your welcome dude, but you could also try going to NESzone.com and type popeye in the search,(close all the ads) and click any popeye game, but for now, you'l settle with the colecovision version.

  • The 2600 version had one level didn't it?

  • @silenceofthehills Nope. The 2600 version had all three screens (though the second one was changed drastically to make it symmetrical).

  • dam ~ it suxs ~ interestin' stuff ~ none the less ~ go micro-chips

  • lol bruto put end to that

  • can you do dig dug

  • Is Olive Oil worth fighting over?

  • lol Je ne pensais pas qu'il existait une version encore plus archaïque qu'Atari 2600

  • I had the Colecovision version. It was cool.

  • It is quite amusing as I remembered playing the 5300 verison of Popeye in the 1980s that Bluto's (Brutus') head resembles a "5."

  • I Always thought the Atari 2600 didn't have good graphics, but when I saw the terrible Oddysey2 version,I thought again about Atari.

  • That arcade in the begging is recorded from MAME, Multiple Arcade Emulator.

  • (Watching the Odyssey 2 version with mouth open in disbelief)

  • You're not the only one!

  • How do you manage the arcade footage at the start?

  • Another excellent episode Thanx

  • LOL @ the Odyssey. I didn't even know it had Popeye.

Anyway, thanks for the vid, I love these.

  • My pleasure. In case you were wondering, the division signs moving up and down on the sides are elevators that take you up to the higher levels, but I couldn't show them in the video.
