@videodaniel8945 I have watched this movie many times over the last 20+ years and that is the first time I ever noticed Nigel Tuffnel's tiny "Electric Ukelele"......... hahahahaha...... Well spotted !
I think that spinal tap wouldn't do a bad cover of 2112 by rush. my thoughts came from listening to that song and thinking "Rythm and lights! Salvation!"
I recently saw a documentary of the Genesis tour in 2007. At one point their set designer came to them with the idea that they would play in a giant pod on stage that could close and lift up and down and rotate around from side to side (needless to say the band shot the idea down). It reminded me so much of some of the stuff from Spinal Tap--freakin' hilarious.
Hahaha, poor Derek Smalls. Harry Shearer is so hilarious in this scene. Well, I think his mustache is the funniest joke in the movie. Always cracks me up by just looking at his face, it's genius!
@gaelicviking: It also happened to David Bowie. He was sitting on a chair that extended out into the audience. It was supposed to bring him back to the stage at the end of the song, but it didn't. He just sat there waiting, wondering what to do. He was too high off the ground to jump. I've seen footage of it and it's the funniest thing ever.
@tomthefunky That's right! I'd forgotten about that until you mentioned it. To be exact, if I remember the footage right, it was even while he was singing "Space Oddity" - so I can't listen to that song with a straight face now. :-)
@gaelicviking I saw Def Leppard in concert and during the song Rocket the drummer/set went up in the air like he was on the top of a rocket. Well.. It got stuck and the band kept playing while the roadies tried to get him back down. HA
I'm more of a fan of the course for this song. Out of the emptiness, salvation. Rhythm and light and sound. 'Twas a rock and roll creation, 'twas a terrible big bang.
He's not hating, their giant lemon just malfunctioned

This was believed to be a slight reference to Yes during I think
was their Tales from Topographic Oceans tour(?)...Alan White
the drummer, was trapped within the 'Clamshell' of the stageset
when it also refused to open...Yikes! LOL!!!
