  • Awesome video! I found you through Jen at Tasty Memories! I have to make this one day!

  • @EatNowCryLater welcome! Love Jen. Let me know how it goes. :)

  • What kind of meats can you use this sauce with? I want to make an apricot stuff pork loin, but I'm not sure if its a sauce to pair with dried apricots and pork.

  • @FrybreadBoy81 I'd say yes. Perhaps, since you're using apricot, use less honey. This sauce has a nutty/garlic flavor. It should be a nice balance. I think that would be an excellent pairing. I'm actually of thinking of pairing this sauce with mushrooms to make stuffed mushrooms and adding pistachios. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

  • i would cook the hens in cooking bag, then toward the end, take out of bag to crisp over.

  • @aclosefamily I think that's a great tip! thanks for sharing!

  • Where can I get rose oil?

I went to a wholefood store and they had rose oil but it wasn't for food. Where do I get it?

  • @AgentCell specialty shops like Indian or Mediterranean markets, or try Amazon. You can also make your own or substitute for rose water or rose syrup.

  • I'm making this on friday, using one whole chicken instead of quails :)

  • good luck. see below what I wrote to @SillyLitleGirl - be sure to make extra sauce, add chicken stock to the sauce (which I have a recipe for on my channel) and use only organic, unsprayed roses. Good luck and let us know how it goes! Take video and share with me on my channel if you can. : D - claudia from Me Gusta

  • Has anyone actually tried this recipe? I haven't, it's way more complicated than I feel comfortable trying...not to mention ingredients I don't have access to. Rose oil and raw chestnuts aren't something I see every day. However, i think when I get engaged, my mother who has beautiful rose gardens may make this with me to serve to our family in celebration of mine and my boyfriend's love. <3 I'll be sure to let you know what it tastes like when we do this.

  • @SillyLitleGirl hi, I'm claudia, the creator of this show. as i mentioned in this video, this dish was experimental. We hadn't tested the recipe. It was important to show this community that experimenting with recipes is essential to perfecting them. What I learned about this recipe is make extra sauce! I felt we didn't make enough. My suggestion is to add a little chicken broth to the mixture. Blend it & pour it over the cooked hens. Make sure you use only organic, unsprayed roses. Good luck!

  • @cyuskoff Hi Claudia, I'm touched that you wrote back to me personally! My mom not only has access to wonderful roses, but one heck of a powerful food processor, too. :p I'm sure it would turn the rose mixture into a velvety smooth sauce. Other than a wonderful romantic meal, there will be another addition to our family soon, I think I'll surprise the mom-to-be with this.

  • @SillyLitleGirl my pleasure! good luck and let me know how it turns out. good luck and congrats to the mom-to-be. : )

  • Great Video! Just finished the movie and automatically started tearing around for a recipe. Looks phenominal! Gracias!

  • @skrbec the movie is so inspiring! glad you enjoyed it and our experiment with the recipe!

  • great video, really drew me into the cooking process, however not to be nitpicky but it's ValenTINES day not ValenTIMES day.

  • @ClaviusPH Not to mention "petals" not "pedals". Nothing loses a person's credibility faster than not being able to spell.

  • You forgot to add blood

  • You sound a bit nasal. Do you have a cold?

  • hello

  • Um, your "guavas" looked more like kiwis. I' ve never seen green flesh on a guava, only white or pink and the seeds are usually an off white, never black.

I did appreciate your showing the process of working on a recipe new to you :) it's refreshing to see.

  • @craftygoose yes, you're absolutely right. I meant to say kiwi. The recipe will work with either, pitaya (dragon fruit), guava or kiwi. Thank you, glad you liked it. Figured I'm not along at trying out new recipes and I wanted to film it to encourage others to try it---flaws and all.

  • pigeon might work with this, the flavour is stronger than quail,

an improvment you could infuse the better with your rose sauces then rub it between the skin and meat

  • @jonnjoe2 great tips. thanks for sharing!

  • You have DSL

  • You're really pretty. :)

  • Looks awesome and I'm sure it smelled fantastic! Thanks for posting.

  • @blueturbo520 thanks for watching. it smelled insanely good!

  • Or is that a term used to tell the size of the chicke

  • Quail and chicken are the same animal?

  • @iverson25allen quails and chickens are different species

  • yay! valentines day! love it so unique

  • EPIC MEAL TIME FTW! Sorry for trolling.

  • yum yum! Like Water... is one of my favorite movies! I grow lots of roses, but I use systemic disease killer...Have you tried any other types of roses? I grow one called 'Wild Blue Yonder" which has a very spicy sweet aroma, hmmm. Please don't take this wrong, but just wanted to say it's ValentiNes day, there's an N there, not a M. But it prolly doesn't make a difference, you are so cute and nice. Happy V day

  • cats in the kitcken....major fail!

  • @lightersnatcher haven't you ever head the song: "Cats in the kitchen with the silver spool, little boy blue and the man in the moon?" Oh, wait... ;)

    or wait ehm

hola cuero, podess me instruir in los bellos artes?

so that's all my spanish knowledge, I think it's enough :P

  • Fuck Valentine's, I want Ballantine's!

  • Why are you calling those birds "Quail"? Those are Cornish game hens aka young chickens, most definitely not Quail.

  • Watch "wheredough27" if u like this video

  • not interested in that lame valentines movie, but i sure like to taste that weird dish :p

  • Cactus pear can be a substitute for pitaya

  • nice!!!

  • This is poorly produced.

  • mmmmm nice

  • fuck valentines day

  • the bird definitely needs more cooking, it should be golden over rose petals. Having said, I would just have a roast chicken with red wine sauce and home made rose macarons for dessert.

To answer your question, indulging on a fillet steak with fois gras sauce and potato et legumes gratin will always make me horny!

  • What you're getting is one attitude derived from too many failed relationships (constantly uses the word, AMAZING), and the other floundering around without a clue. What about the hens?

  • OMG i LOVE THAT BOOK I READ IT AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR

  • mmm SHIT FILLED CHICKEN ..ME GUSTAA MUCHO !

  • ValentiMes day??? It is valentiNe's day! I hate when people mispronounce it.

  • May I ask what temperature you set the oven to? The recipe looks amazing, I definitely want to try it. You can usually find dragon fruit in Asian supermarkets too :)

  • why do you look so disgusted in the beginning?

  • Two dead animals on trash for V-day? Just rate my videos and have a great laugh for v- day

  • Hello! I am from Singapore and I found your video in the watch list. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! The dish looks delicious =)

  • NOW ...I NOW KNOW WHERE I WANT TO SPEND THIS VALENTINE'S DAY! FROM NOW TILL THY KINGDOM COME O LORD!!

  • Check my videos out its my turn to make featured

  • It's cool to actually see this dish exists, after studying LWFC extensively in my English class

  • Like water for chocolate comes to mind. Lol maybe it wasn't a good idea to post this recipe with everyone talking about how over crowded the world is.

  • Why do you talk in a horror movie type voice? and look scared at 0:10 ???...doesn't give the best impression :-(.

  • Cute everything!

  • Uhhhhh, the book had the recipe (at least the ingredients).

  • U looked like Betty in Ugly Betty. eheh!..

  • Nice quality..

  • That's not guava! Its a kiwi

  • Yay 35th ...

  • Looked like kiwi not guava

  • But how did it taste like? You should've tasted it on camera as well as either removed the neck of the hen, or tucked it underneath with some butcher's twine. Happy I saw ur vid. 1st time viewer, vid came up as a recommended from my subs. Nice work

  • @promiscuousgirl21 we wanted to keep the dish rustic.

  • @cyuskoff, would you mind telling us how the hens tasted?

  • also the aroma of the guava !mmm :) I think it adds to it :)

  • Great video I LOVE codornices en petalos de rosa..

you can find guava pulp in the frozen section of most supermarkets that sell

latin food products. GOYA which is a popular brand sells it in 6x8 " and 1/2 " thick tablets normally people use it to make a sort of smoothie with it.. there is no water added to it, so it would have worked great for you :) I love the final presentation! thanks for sharing !

  • addblock plus is a firefox application to get rid of all adds on videos. Th ones durring and the ones before. LOOK IT UP

    ----NO ADDS EVER AGAIN----

  • como agua para chocolate xD

  • That looks really crappy. I am sorry .. =/

  • We really enjoy watching ur vids. Ur stove n oven did u buy them or did they come w ur house? Or is that one the one ur use for videos, differnt but nice: )

  • @thomasmccarty09 thanks, it came with the house. it's circa 1950s and still works!

  • I've cooked with rose petals before, but I haven't thought about combining them this way :o

maybe you could bring out some more flavor by simmering the quail/game hens in some rose water before baking? Or just adding some rose water in general~

  • @LittleMissGrotesque we recommended adding rose water to the sauce but simmering them in the rose water ahead of time is interesting idea. thank you for the recommendation : )

  • @LittleMissGrotesque i tried this, and it got to floral.. i found that cooking down 1 part rose water, one part lemon juice and two parts sugar into a syrup, and then brushing a thin layer of the syrup over the chicken 5 minutes before its done, gives a little more flower (which i assumed you were trying with this) and a very nice glaze, without overpowering the chicken...

  • I really like the way you made this video! Thank you! I will most likely not, do this recipe for, Uak!, the V day( the thoughts of all single women round the world) but I will totally do this as a project someday! It look to good not to!

  • @chocolatepugs haha very nice. : D let me know how it goes!

  • YOU always have an effect on me , you are a Beautiful dish.

    Feliz dia de San Valentine.

    Besos

  • @mcafee1971 aw, you made my day. Happy Valentines day sweetie!

  • love this video! Just wondering does quail taste like chicken!?

  • @prepareforvictory um well like the dark meat but it taste more like pheasant :)

  • I love your videos, I'm addicted!

  • @cyuskoff I know what you mean :). You are doing such an awesome job. Thanks for a great video!

  • @missnget thanks sweets. i appreciate the feedback. xo

  • Great vid. Who sings the song at the very end?

  • @pcilla10 i got it off 'friendly music' and the title says Oceo Le Vieux Cur but sometimes their titles are not always accurate.
