Thanks so much..I've wanted to learn this for years. FYI, Vince played guitar also.....he loved cranking the amp up to '10.'....not like the nice acoustic tone you're getting. Thanks again for posting this....great job!
can you post the tabs? i have no knowledge of music theory so this is hard for me to find the chords you mentioned, even googling them gives alternate patterns.
so glad i was able to find this video again. i found it last year too late to learn it for christmas. i hope i have time to learn it as well as you play. thank you for your generousity. merry christmas
@Jimplify - thanks - unfortnately i dont think it will translate to Uke. i have a couple Uke videos posted. check out "santa clause is coming to town" and tell me what you think.
could you please send the tabs to me? i really need to learn it but im a beginner so im having trouble figuring out the chords :S, i have no trouble fingering it but the chords are the ones giving me a headache
Youtube's not letting me comment, but hopefully this will send. I just wanted to say thanks for posting. This is a great version of the tune that's not terribly difficult to learn, so thanks much. I added some ornamental bookends, but it's basically what you taught otherwise.
thanks for posting this. I love love love this music. I did change a couple of voicings for myself, an open position Emajor9 and an open A for the A major 7th, but it sounds decent. I really appreciate the tutorial. Thanks again.
Hi. I dunno if u even visit your site, but I couldn't help but stick my big nose in for a bit of a suggestion. I'm a guitarist by trade, but figured this out on piano years ago. If you listen to the bass line, you'll see what I mean about the chord progression in the verses as it simply walks down. (listen to the original, which never had an equal) I hope you enjoy the bit of tweaking I did to your arrangement, which otherwise is prime!! God Bless, & a Merry Christmas to you & your loved ones!!!
Hi. I figured this out on piano, & I too am an ear musician but I hear something different with the chord that corresponds with the word FUN for all, that (try 67669x for FUN, & simply play the high open E twice for "for all", (u bar the 6th fret with your index finger, of course) or an E with your pinky on the G string, 9th fret (so you keep better the integrity of the chord. Then strum 1x ..5766xx & play an E flat note once on the G string, 8th fret for the word "that", then do like u do...
Bloody Brilliant...vince guaralidi is such a brillaint composer... i love the fact that you made this so much easier to play than in the F major original...I've always struggled with some of the fingering changes needed for the original composition...oh man and I found a brilliant open D tuning version of O Holy Night off of ultimate guitar tabs if you're interested...i'm going to post a vid of me playing it here in the next few days so check it out and let me know what you think...keep rocking!

is this tuned differently????? cuz i cant seem to get it
vintagesoulny 6 months ago
@vintagesoulny - no - i tuned normal but i transposed the song 1/2 step lower (from F to E) to make it easier for me to play.
delpuckett 6 months ago
@vintagesoulny - nope - it's standard tuning...but i am playing it 1/2 step down from the original. E is a more "guitar friendly" key in my opinion.
