Bad Ass!!!! I have always been looking for a way to hear the original version of this song. Thanks to this, i have a continuous way. Thank you!!!! Long live Def Leppard. Their old shit is better than almost any other band. Pyromania and High n Dry was their absolute peak of excellence. Hysteria is second. To much commercialism on Hysteria.
This was reworked on in 1983 because Phil wanted to have a version of which he was on,so,the band re-recorded it,albeit with altered lyrics..it's strange to me,being used to hearing the remake, hearing the Original Lyric now, since I never heard this before!
The Best Def Leppard IS the original Def Leppard....Pete Willis and Steve Clark were a much better team. Too bad Pete couldn't straighten up but he did save his life...Unfortunately for Steve,it did not end up that way. It's a shame they fired Pete and did not try to help him.
it's interesting how rick's in the pic yet he didn't join til after this ep was made the drumming was done by another drummer they got to play on this album.
Anybody else find it ironic that it is Steve Clark who is holding the smallest bottle amongst the group? Either way, R.I.P, Steve. You are one of my guitar heroes.
pete is good i admit..i think phil just was better suited for leppard though, and def leppard has stood the test of time so whatever you think joe did wrong doesnt make too much sense..and without mutt hysteria wouldn't have made their break for them..just saying i love them all but please dont come down on mutt and joe
Pete Willis was a great rock guitarist. He wrote the best songs on "on thru the night", "High and dry" and "Pyromania". Joe Eliot wanted control of the band and let Mutt Lange turn them into a polished and pretty studio band. They sold a lot of albums but some of their later stuff sounds like bubble gum pop. Check out Petes other bands, Roadhouse and GOGMAGOG.
i like all the versions..but this is my favorite..older stuff is just bettter lol xD sav is just a babe lol i love all his expressions, RestInPeace dear Steve Clark..and personally i prefer phil waaaaay over pete though..personality and skill and everything =] hehe im too addicted to def leppard..and im 16! xD
@Metalhead0166 my mom actually listened to them a lot, not tons..but some..and then i got into it because of rock on..then i was obsessed with rock on and pour some sugar on me..and joe lol i didnt even look at the other people..i got a little into gnr then dokken and crue and alice cooper and now im so much into def leppard its scary..lol im obsessed with sav and joe still lol xD mutt was a hottie too..and everyone in def leppard
That's awesome!! Yeah i got into Def Leppard when i was around 12, now at 16 i still love them and always will till the day i die! AND THEN SOME!! Joe looked kick-ass in that concert live from Denver CO, (in the round in your face tour).
Between DL, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Metallica, and GnR....there is a tough fight.....still my favorite is Def Leppard. Even though Steve died during Adrenalize, that album still kicked ass!!! R.I.P Steve.... Def Leppard is just plain bad ass..
they need to seriously re-release all their original stuff, in the original versions as they were back in the 70's. This stuff is so awesome...the version of this song thats on retroactive sounds like shit compared to this
I have this on a 33 somewhere had it imported... Matter of fact I got two pressings, both recorded different but I still like this one the best. Man I love high n dry and pyromania... But the metal edge is taken away in hysteria and I don't approve as much...
I love the early stuff... Still metalish sounding, compared to modern metal anyways. And I really wonder what would've happened if they never met Mutt, I mean I love Photograph and yromania, but I still wonder... Hysteria may never have been!
And thats a bad thing? I think they sounded better on their first album. It sounded like metal not popish BS. Mutt Lang destroyed the Hard metal sound of the group..the raw passion they had
this song brings back memories saw them at the freetrade hall manchester england . im sure they were supporting sammy hagar early 80s i was only a kid myself!
Thanks for uploading this, TheBSPolice. I'd not heard this song before; it's amusing. DL were so young and raw in 1979. What is the title of the EP? Was in commercially sold? What are the other song titles on the EP? THANKS!
defenitly i wish they didnt give in to trends and become glam rock there early stuff is the best. they do have lots of great stuff though on hysteria and pyromania the 2009 album is shit im goin to see them july 12th
Personally, I think I liked everything up until Songs From The Sparkle Lounge, which was an ok album. It's still retarded how they can win a country music award, just for performing "Photograph" with Taylor Swift (blech. I will never insult my ears with that again. She is far from considering matching the original "Photograph")
man this is better than the rerecorded version, and..did you guys ever notice how pete willis always looked wasted in all these pictures, and steve clark ended up dying from it....weird? R.I.P. steve :(
might as well be though Kenning ditched before they went into the studio and Frank Noon was just on loan to the band. Rick came over and has helped out.
It took me 9 years to finally get this song so now my collection of lep songs (in one format or another) is complete. This song has a more raw song then the remakes.
