  • Communism was meant to be a good thing, it can be good. But it has never been done right, never has communism been offered by good people and stayed in the hands of good people. For that matter, neither has capitalism.

  • communism destroyed romenia russia east germany poland etc, bankrupt everything it was a judaic theory in order to make something very simple... happyness in slavery, you own nothing and work like a slave with smile in your face thinking its for a better good, while the top feasts and makes you live in a illusion

  • thank god my country was a fascist regime, nothing of this bullshit, the state was for order raising capital, colonial empire, this is just stupid, at least we knew why we didnt had freedom expression, because of the cold war ad their interest on the african colonys, here it made no sense, it as just about a couple of parasites who wanted to stay in power

  • I really hate scores from communist countries. For some reason, they all sound similarly annoying. So saturated with brass and percussion. I also hate the unison singing too. Yuck....idk why I hate that kind of music, especially singing so much. Just cant stand it!11

  • They forgot to tell in this documentary how if you insulted Ceausescu in the street you would get arrested. You had to "love" him even if you didn't want to.You were forced to "love "him

  • frumos

  • ail ele farzesco jafge!!!

  • What a great documetary! BBC still surprise me :)

  • this reminds me the beijing 2008 opening ceremony

  • I can't listen to this old commie saying that "at this time the party and people were one", "We were thinking and breathing together". I'm not Romanian but I also grew up in a communist country and I know what kind of bullshit is this pseudopropaganda. Why did authors of this document let only postcommunists speak? Not very fair...

  • Numai un Roman, patriot poate sa inteleaga ce-a fost odata si ce poate un Roman sa faca. Traiasca Romania.

  • familia "Da, deci" :-)

  • all romanians that appear in this clip are ex-communist party members and maybe even active intelligence agents. Don't be fooled...some still have leading roles in today's political life

  • @pleuu

Another 50 to 100 years and finally we will begin to look and act like a democracy when all these former communists will die.

  • @pleuu hahahahah you are too funny, but I must say that what you say is not so, I was living in an orphenage in Trasilvania and we (about a 100 in total) were taken to Bucharest to be part of those dances (i never did took part in the actual dance cuz I was not a good dancer and payed no attention to the coreography).

Anyway- is like a 100 lives ago.

  • @pleuu

    what is your point?

  • @pleuu : that explains what a shithole Romania is: the same dickheads running the show. They should've all been made to clean toilets.

  • @eric5906 the guys in this documentary who are former communists or symphatizers, in today's romanian politics they hold no real power and adhere to either far right or far left parties none of those being in the parliament. the current gov is center-right.

and whilst there are problems in Romania, this country is not a shithole, but i believe your mouth is, seing how it spews crap all over.

  • @Kamadeva01 sorry, Romania is a poophole. There, is that better? Point being, you can't have any of these people running a country. No management, no vision, it will be a dump 100 yrs from now.

  • @eric5906 At least it had its own energy source unlike North Korea who sucks China for everything.

  • Kinda reminds me of North Korea.

  • @Deathlordtwo

exactly - you can see the inspiration for the airang mass games from what was happening in romania...

  • @Deathlordtwo He looked up to Kim-il Sung of North Korea, so he definitely copied his personality cult after that of N. Korea.

  • @Deathlordtwo Russia is a big destroyer of Romania ,Russia is responsible for provocation a flow blood in 1989,all Romanian people know who are ,the first enemy of Romania ,and we will not forget this never ,RUSSIA THE FIRST ENEMY OF ROMANIA , the REVOLUTIONE 1989 IS MADE BY RUSSIA AGENT KGB ,THEY KILL innocent people ,and they make propaganda against NICOLAE CEUSECU from 1984 ,and in 1989 they suicides to kill him NICOLAE CEAUSESCU HERO OF ROMANIA

  • @iovixxx Foreign provocateur... Can't even spell or express yourself... Go shoot yourself you moron! If the Russians would have had anything to do with it, they would have interveined militarily, as Ion Iliescu had called the Soviet Embassy (from the National Salvation Front headquarters) and asked for support. Learn to speak, then learn some history, and then try and type comments. Maybe then your comments might actually have some value.

  • @iovixxx sa sugi pula si tu si toata familia ta de comunisti

  • @Deathlordtwo He was inspirew by the Chinese and North Korean parades. He got those ideas from his state visits there.

  • femeia in costum albu de la min.5;35 nu e cumva gainusa?avea neamu in satu bunicii mele...

  • most of these guys in the doc are nostalgic morons who couldn't(can't) adapt to the capitalism way of doing things or extremists like that Corneliu Vadim Tudor character who get laughed at whenever they try to rally support.

    Romania(as Europe) is old and has seen fascism and communism,monarchy,feudalism and every other form of government/leadership/social structure;

it will not go back to any of those.

  • Ceausescu was the greatest politician Romania had , he put Romania on the international stage , allmost made Romania a nuclear power . It takes 50 years of communism to build a country from the ashes of ww2 and 20 years of capitalism to destroy it .

  • He was an opportunist who played on public support against the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. He broke away from traditional Communists in that he spewed NATIONALISTIC sentiments. While this was smart on his part, he did this to consolidate his own power selfishly. He built lavish palace(s) while destroying Middle Aged churches in the name of Communism. Embraced what history suited him. Everything nationalized. No middle class. Ever heard of the Securitate?

  • @fiveoheye Compare all that with the current situation of Romania , every top politician of today has stole milions and milions of euros , they barely hide it , in summer time you can find them in Maui , Tahiti , Thailand , etc and the population is barelly living with 180 euros per month . Ceausescu did much , not for himself but for romanians (infrastucture , cities , mega projects , housing , benefits ,etc ) .

  • Largest palace in the world at start of movie. Whose palace?1 of many. Did u see the apartment blocks? For the people. Comm. ideology states all men (regardless of merit/class) live the same. That's why they all live on top of each other in apartments (unless u are Comm. official - hypocrisy!). Corruption found in ALL forms of govt. As for infrastructure, some Rus revere Stalin for same reasons whereas most recognize u can't sacrifice blood for infrastructure! U in favor of collectivization too?

  • Corruption anywhere find politics, capital. or comm. Flaw in old Rom. its ideology. Great grandpa worked in factory, owning it due to merit & luck. Comm. confiscated it. Way to treat business class (innovative pple). Folks went to med school, realize make no $ in Romania where drs perform 'for country.' Why pple always tried to escape like many uncles who were sent to jail. Parents escaped, told no one for fear of Securitate. Bribed official for papers. Came to US penniless, bec. successful.

  • Gee, always frightened of the government. 1 out of every 3 people in the Securitate. Yeah, Communist Romania was great, no? No offence, but I think you are a red sympathizer or a crypto-Communist. The best for the country was not Ceacescu. Antonescu, King Carol, anybody would have been better but history and time was not on their side. I, personally admire Codreanu, though I know how polarizing he is/was. I am, however, an an ardent anti-Communist and nationalist.

  • How about sit. in Moldova, another Communist Romania til recently. Since '89, Romania fared better than Moldova which is why so many Moldovans want to be like their brethren and join EU. Commies (Voronin under allegations of financial corruption) bled country til 1/3 the people migrated for work. Poorest in Europe! Sorry to keep bombarding you w/messages but Ceacescu (church destroyer) & corrupt Elena good, please. Industrialization not excuse for Stalinist action. Only Commie say such thing!

  • @fiveoheye Moldova is another thing in Moldova , the commies did nothing for the population , and the state was not a communist paradise but a mafia country .Why are churches so important , what do churches do for romanians , what benefits do romanians have from churches , nothing . I don't care about churches , there are 2 on every street , more are beeing built everyday and nobody ever goes to them .

  • Commies never do anything for the pop. Claim to make everyone equal but just make everyone equally poor! Communist paradise = mafia country, look at Transnistria. Churches very important. I'm orthodox but rarely go to church. Still a sign of our history and culture. Erase any structure (church or not) from Middle-Ages should be crime. Haven't u heard of hist. preservation? As for new cheap ones being built, I don't care for. Will respect anything, castle, church, even mosque, w/ hist. value.

  • @fiveoheye Communist romania and commie transnistria are two separate things . Esti roman ?

  • Yes, I'm Romanian, mostly. I guess you didn't read about how my parents escaped from Romania. While the countries have different political situations, they both shared the same corruptive ideology (Communism). You say it's apples and oranges while I say it's apples and apples.

  • @fiveoheye The People's Palace was built to house the government . You cannot speak about corruption back than since things were DONE . Total corruption is TODAY .

  • And why did the people's palace need to be so lavish? A government building should be plain, a church should be lavish. Yet, you advocate the other way around. Why can't I speak about corruption back then? In Romania now, do the Securitate steal you away in the night to send you away? No, not anymore. Does the government steal factories from the owners anymore? No. Like I said before, there will always be corruption in politics (from ancient Rome to now). It's still better now.

  • @fiveoheye A church should be lavish , hmm , modesty , beeing humble rings a bell ? Jesus was plain , orthodox high priests drive bmw and mercedes , their robes and outfits are insanely expensive , the romanian church practiced slavery until 1850 . Why did the communist party built , the channel , whole infrastructure (car and train) , iron gates power plant , houses ,8 out of 10 romanians TODAY live in them , agriculture all that , why ?if not for the people ?

  • Church shouldn't be made from gold but it should be aesthetically pleasing. Jesus was an ascetic (denounced materialism) but we can still admire and build beautiful churches in his honor. It's like spending a little extra on a nice suit or your favorite outfit. These can be looked upon as monuments and the ones in Romania have historical value. Vlad Tepes put up many medieval monasteries. Would you like to knock them over? In my city the only buildings worth taking a picture of are churches

  • We never had opportunity to administer ourselves properly because of Turk, Russian, Austro-Hungarian, (then Soviet) occupations. We were autonomous for short time before we became entangled in world wars like everyone else. Never had a chance to build. Do you think Communism is a necessary precursor for industrial development? It was his ties to the US (and Nixon) which strengthened the military industrial complex of Ceacescu not the false Communist ideology he was pretending to propagate

  • @fiveoheye Do you reckon Romania was established like the other central eastern European countries after the Paris Peace Conference as cannon fodder? Looking at it historically, it seems that way.
